Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
peachwood replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am starting to think food with the recipes you guys are exchanging!! I will not be able to eat until March!! But I will save them because I like to cook. I am already thinking how to liven up the liquids. I pulled out my ice cream freezer to make high protein ices and I will work on the protein in the jello and make some high protein popsicles with Tupperware popsicle makers. Remember them!! I pulled them out too. Someone had mentioned egg drop soup. I love it. I had major head and head surgery years ago and that was a lifesaver. So good!! Just because we can not eat like we used to doesn't mean we still can not be creative in the kitchen. I do plan to spend my down time cleaning out drawers and sorting pictures. But that could take years!!! So maybe I will get one done! Katy I hope your problems get resolved. Keep us updated. Love hearing about all your progress. Jane -
February 10th bandsters! Where are you?!
peachwood replied to serenity55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been eating all the things I know I will not be able to have for awhile like bread, shrimp, etc. But not overeating. As of Monday it will be CL for 2 days and then two weeks of FL. I will have to get creative. Need to do a little shopping. Gas-X strips, Miso, Papaya enzyme ( just in case)to add to the regular items. -

I get banded next week and that is one challenge I constantly think about - cooking for the rest of my family and not tasting it. I may get some surgical masks to put on in the kitchen. It will be funny to see the food stains on the mask!!!!:laugh::thumbup: -
I was wondering if the port site is affected during a mamography? Because you have to stand and press against the machine at about the port site, has anyone had any experience?

Thanks for the encouragement. I have been popping into the FEb 8 bandsters to see how you are doing. It certainly is motivating. Keep up the good work. :bananalama:

peachwood replied to serenity55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Had my preadmission testing today and just waiting to make sure that Feb 10th will actually happen. I had an abnormal EKG and so I had to had an ECHO and a stress test and I think they were OK but have not received official word. THe "pioneers" are adding up and soon we will join them. Let's keep in touch. -
Just have to do CL the day before. BUt I think those of you that had to start early will not be in shock post op. I have been working with the protein supplements and have found a few interesting ones. The protein shots are actually pretty good and 42 grams!!!

Old Band out -- New Realize Band In
peachwood replied to alicat3924's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I find this discussion fascinating!! What I would like to see on this forum is for everyone to tell what band they have and then monitor everyone's progress. No cheating! It would be an interesting informal study. -
Well the time approachwa

Any February 2009 Bansters?
peachwood replied to exumtam's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow it is February and in one month we will be on our journey. Some of you have already been banded and we are hoping to hear from you. This group will be a major support to me on this journey. I have given it lots of thought. Today I had an echo and a stress test and the techs have had a few patients that have had it done and they do well - moving better, no medications, etc. i hear the concerns about the diet and I too am concerned but if I am not so hungry I think I can do better. At least that is my focus. Also if I can sleep better without the extra weight I will definitely be in control. All the best. Jane -

Any February 2009 Bansters?
peachwood replied to exumtam's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have the time to exercise and I do, so that will not be the hard part. I am worried about head hunger. I am hoping the band will help. I will try to push the Feb bandsters to exercise. I really mix up my exercise. I play tennis 2x a week, I do 2 Zumba classes a week ( lots of fun!!) and Yoga 2x a week followed by weights. I have found it helpful to have an exercise buddy and to do it away from home. It is so important to the success of having the band. I am trying to figure out what I will be able to do immediately postop. I will keep you updated.:cursing: -

3 days post op, update
peachwood replied to twiggysmiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI, Your remark as to why I did this hit a nerve. I have a Feb.10th date and that is all I can think of. Should I do this? I am scared but I should probably be more scared of the consequences of not getting this weight off permanently,:scared2: Wishing you the best. Keep in touch. -
