December Surgery Buddies!
Jayallday28 replied to AshleeHarvey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! It's cliche but we all know It is not easy but it is worth it. Since posting that testimony I have lost another 12 lbs and am now at 82lbs in 7.5 weeks. I workout every morning at 530am and night at 630pm at my boxing club in Iowa. I wanted to share the start of my journey to help tell people that IT IS OKAY TO CHOOSE YOURSELF. In fact, always choose yourself. Proud of everyone who is taking this journey. 🙏 Yesterday is on the right. December 1st is on the left. -
December Surgery Buddies!

Had surgery on December 13th. I had the exact same fears. First night after, I had some crusty blood vomit and thought leak, then had all black stools for a few days after and thought upper GI bleeding but it was not, it was from the incubator and breathing tube, then I shoveled snow and had bad sharp stomach pain(Stupid idea, I know but we got 24 inches). Same thing no leakage. Now after getting out of my head and not microanalyzing every feeling or symptom I had, ans focused my time on prepping food, doing a work journal and cardio and I feel amazing. I am 7 weeks post op today and down 70lbs. Follow the program and life gets so much better every week. It sucks in the moment in the first 4 weeks but my 5, 6 and 7 have all brought on improved energy and happiness little by little. Everyone's progress is differant. My goal is 250lbs loss so I have a long ways to go but I am thankful so far for this journey but I have lost a total of 46 inches with 8 off my chest and 7 off my waist. Tomorrow I have my 8 week post op and get to start taking my vitamins. I pray for you all to continually feel the blessings of this journey. 🙏Some progress photos from pictures taken at an award ceremony on December 1st vs pictures 2 weeks ago. Wince the photo on the right, I have lost another 17. That vest on the left fully zips with wiggle room now. 🙏 -
December Surgery Buddies!

I am 3 weeks and 3 days post op and do also experience the same tiredness and fatigue. Couldn't even grt going for work yesterday and had to reschedule 2 meetings to go back to sleep. My nurse and Dietician said this process and the lack of nutrients during the healing stages will make you extremely tired/weak to the same effect covid does. She was right, very much so. I've now had both. But I am feeling much better aside from that. I lost 22lbs on the 2 week preop diet and have lost 34lbs since surgery December 13th. Had my follow up and down 56lbs since November 29th. One day at a time. Process is more important than the goal. We can all get to our goal but I believe the process comes first. -

Your able to eat mashed potatoes and chilling over the clear liquidate? Just wondering is rhe Chilli with beans, tomatoes etc? Thanks! I am on full liquids and not able to eat more than 2ounces per meal 3 times a day and it's only yogurt, pudding, cream soups but nothing with chunks or mashed consistency. Trying to get some ideas for when I go to pureed next Thursday. Its been a long 17 days on clear/full liquids(including preop diet). Thanks -

I am 10 days post op(December 13th). Down 39lbs and my happiness is very high. I want to share my story. The first 3-4 days sucked. Gas pains are rough, mind games are real. I even thought residual brown blood I coughed up was me bleeding from the staple line, no no it wasn't it was from the incubator and breathing tube lol. Constipation is real with the shakes but I was able to easily manage it and you can if you start a 100mg Colace twice a day, 2 days before surgery and maintain through the diet phases. I also got disolvable omeprozel instead of the horse pills to limit acid in my stomach to help healing, I got Gas Strips off amazon and Gas X for when needed. The gas pain from the CO2 is real but it gets better every single day. It eventually trys to exit out the left shoulder and is a little uncomfortable but I managed to walk 1.5-2 miles per day during recovering by going to the mall and taking my time. The physical side is much better each day. I do still get a weird 3-4am hunger pain in my tummy that is fixed by 2 ounces of premier shake and then back to bed. It is tough watching family and friends over the holidays enjoy snacking but I remind myself I did this at 35yo as an investment to a longer life. To watch my 6.5yo son get married and to enjoy my own grandkids. I just wanted to share that every day is a better day and to take it easy and feel blessed and reminded that the recovery and fluid phases are not permanent and your normal is right around the corner. Enjoy the process of life change.
