    Self Pay and Denied Financing...Help....

I am so glad that I am able to be of some help. I noticed that your surgery date is in October. Did they suggest what to drink for your meals before that? I dropped two chix boullion cubes in a cup and nuked them in the microwave for two minutes. You would be how satisfying it is to feel as though you had a hot meal. (For some reason I was actually happy to also drink it because it was something that I could smell like real food. lol.) Also, Jello is more filling than you would think...especially if eaten with a spoon with a small "bowl" like a tea spoon.

    Self Pay and Denied Financing...Help....

Hey there, I don't know the names of the meds, but one is for acid reflux or gas. The other is for blood clots, it is injected in the stomach daily for two weeks and the last one is hydrocodone. As I said before I told the primary care doc at the VA that I did not want the pain med because my friends all said that they hardly needed to take them..... You might want to check out the "International Hotel" at Harper hospital. It isn't bad at all and check out time is 11:00 on the next day...believe me, you will be in such a hurry to get out of the Hospital (they're nice) that you wont have a problem. The hotel staff are all friendly and your fellow hotel mates have a lot in common with you. Besides, you can save that money for a nice new outfit to wear back on the plane. lol Good luck again. Now that all of us here on Lapband talk will be rooting for you and waiting for you to write as soon as you can.

    Self Pay and Denied Financing...Help....

Dr Webber did my surgery at Harper hospital. Here is a little something that you should know. You and a family member will get to stay at the "hotel" on the hospital grounds for two days. Your guest will be able to enjoy a continental Breakfast of donuts and coffee. There are no restaurants close to the hospital except McDonald's (we searched high and low). Make sure that you take $400.00 with you for your post op meds!!!! I didn't and was horror stricken because no one told me anything about the meds. Luckily the Veterans Hospital was down the street, I took my prescription there and was given all of my meds within an hour!!! (I'm service connected vet.) I have been in chronic pain resulting from a broken back twenty some years ago (and hate them) so I left the pain medicine at the va pharmacy. Luckily, I didn't even need an aspirin two days post surgery on the long drive from Detroit to Southwest Missouri. Take care, god bless and I can't wait until you see the weight melt...It's great.

    Self Pay and Denied Financing...Help....

Hi Since I got my lap band installed in Detroit, MI and I live in Southwest Missouri I am forced to drive four hours away to Dr. Malley's clinic in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Could you or anyone else tell me why other doctor's wont see me? There is a Lap Band Dr. in Branson which is 12 miles away but he wont see me.

    Self Pay and Denied Financing...Help....

I haven't found anyone who will give me a loan yet.....but I will. It took me nearly three years to get my lap band...I don't think that any of this is going to be one hundred percent as easy as it seems for all of us. We have to stand at the end of the rope (one the tug of war game) and just hold on until the other side gets tired...and pull as we walk backwards until our side wins. (I figured that one out in a tug of war game in basic training at Lackland Air force base....and they thought that all we did was march.) lol
  9. I hope that everything is going well Juney. As for family members agreeing, you have to follow your heart. If you feel tired of not feeling and looking your best you have to make your own decisions about your health with most people in your life. You have to ask yourself: "are these people going to sit by the side of my hospital bed, wash me, feed me, give me my shots, etc? Also, are they going to pay for your insulin, tens unit, pain pills? I love for my family and friends to help me with their advice because I don't know everything. But I had all sorts of physical problems (high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, severe depression, agoraphobia, and sleep apnea, back and knee arthritis). When they started telling me that they were against the surgery I listened to each of their complaints regarding bariatrics. I looked up answers for all of their concerns and only after I was satisfied with the answers and the percentages of complications I let them know that my mind was definitely made up and didn't look back. So far, I have lost 71 pounds as of last month.....I will get weighed in at the veteran's hospital tomorrow!! Hang in there girl.
  10. Did you try Dr.s Webber and Dr. Weiner at Harper Hospital? Dr. Webber did my surgery there in Detroit at Harper in 2007.
  11. The nearest that I can think of is in West Hills hospital. Dr. Paya. He's also a great lap band surgeon and does financing.

how do i know when i'm full

I was banded on October 24th of 2007 and never felt "stuffed" but after all of these years of feeling hungry all of the time I can eat a cup of food and walk away without feeling as though I were being deprived.

    Denied..& Have Trouble Financing!!

Shy girl, Please don't give up. Anything that will make you feel better physically, mentally and emotionally is well worth the fight. It took me nearly three years to find financing. I was finally able to use my medicare benefits at Harper Hospital in Detroit on October 24, 2007. The funny thing is that within two months they were able to speed the procedure up. I just had to keep focused and "nudge" people when I was at my strongest emotionally.
