white people do keloid also i just think it's more common among AA people. i had one took off maybe 10yrs ago, that went well and did'nt grow back. i got another one from my hair dresser accidently pulled my ear ring out with the comb. but the flip side of that is that i have piercings and they are fine. i also hear that you can have the Dr. to inject your cuts with steriods and they will heal up and not grow there. Question .. has anyone asked for pictures of the inside of their stomach before and after the band ? i think it'll be a great motivation tool to place on the frig.or maybe that's just my weird self..lol !. okay all my pre-op testing i got done this morning and i pick up my pre-op diet on friday. and thanks to all the advise and support from the site i have already purchased liquid tylenol, gas-x strips, sugar free popsickles, etc. i'm getting my gear ready ! -

i think for me it's about a life style change along with droppin those bad eating habits. so this type of restriction is going to be perfect for me. i saw some before and after pics on here that has both inspired me and made me a true believer. i think we'll do just fine:wub: -

yes saninbham can you please elaborate a little on that ? the only concern i would have as an African American is developing keloids from the incision cuts. -

Mrsace13 i completely understand where you are right now because i'm there myself. i was doing good while seeing the nutrionist, she had me on a pre-lapband diet to get me use to chewing and trying different Protein shakes. i was doing food and exercise journals everyday for her, even after they said i was approved i was still doing good. mines just hit me this week and i find myself trying to get in things because i feel i won't be able to anymore. i pick up my pre-op diet this Friday which is also my Birthday:blink:. so now i feel like i have a deadline to meet, but don't want to go back heavier than i was in the consultation. my surgery is in about 2weeks and i know that the more i put on now is going to be the more i'll have to get off later. for me i try to spend most of my free time in the gym and not think about it but i do know what you mean by those funsize candies in the office. i have a real fear of having excess skin as i lose weight, afraid it wont bounce back. and of course the tv show Biggest Loser is no help because they all look firm :wub:! it's extremely hard and takes allot of will power.:wub: Dr. Ernest Rehnke Palm Of Pasadena St.Petersburg, Fl. -

Congrads and Good Luck to All of this weeks bandsters, I go in for my pre-op testing in the morning through my primary care Dr. and i pick up my pre-op diet(optifast) on Friday Oct. 10th. the closer i get the more it feels real. :w00t::wub: i just want it to hurry up and get here already !!:redface: -

Program Fee (to surgeon) & WLS

I Have to pay $1,000 for the program fee which i still don't understand, but what can you do. I'm not sure if it depends on your insurance, the Dr. or the Hospital you're going to ?? good thing we have a nutrionist that visits our job every tues. or i probably would of had to pay for my 6months history. and i'm glad the fills are the same cost as a regular co-payment($25-30). i do know if it was'nt for me having to come up with this fee i would of been banded already ! oh well oct. 24th is around the corner -

The Dr. Did explain that you will have gas and walking is the only thing you can do to get rid of it:unsure:, or take something for it. your shoulder pains are coming from when they filled your stomach with gas, it's your diaphragm.:tt2: -
Hello Nicole914, yes i am also required to do 2weeks on Optifast. In my case it's $200. it comes in Vanilla,chocolate, and strawberry. I can't tell you how is taste i go for the taste test when i pick it up on Oct.10th to decide which flavors i like. i will be picking up 3 boxes/ 2 week supply Dr.Rehnke Palms Of Pasadena St.Petersburg,Fl.

Hello Hazard79, as for myself i have BCBS of New Jersey and i know when they asked for the 5yr history, they wanted that history that you've been going to the Doctor over a 5year period and needed your Height and Weight from each one of those years. part 2 of that is like Flowers said, they want to know every diet you have tried and how much if any have you lost or gained. -

Hello Jet919 let me first start off by saying congrad on getting a surgery date. you go in 1 day before my birthday and 2weeks before my surgery. secondly everyone i different depending on the Dr. with mines i was given a lsit of things i will be able to have from week 1 all the way up until i get my first fill. the nutrionist i was seeing also provided me with a similar list. it's mainly water, crystal light, 100 % fruit juices, chicken broth. they consider clear liquids as anything you can see through. not sure about whey powder(protein shakes) right out of the hospital but my Dr. did say if i had any (pre-op diet drink) optifast left over i can drink that. now they do sell protein powder at Walmart,GNC, etc. but make sure you can have it first. and if so i found that the Vanilla Flavor with Vanilla Silk(soy milk) is surprisingly good:thumbup:. You're Right We Do Have The Same Date, I Don't KNow What Time Mine Is Though. I Guess I'll Find That Out The Day Before On My Pre-Op Date, I think that's where i under go all the testing huh ?? Yes we are going to have to keep up with each other. i'm so anxious and ready until i can hardly hold it in anymore. -

First and for most thank you Lori this is a very good idea. My Name Is Alicia, i'm 32yrs old, no kids and always thought of myself as Fat n Fabulous/BBW. Until i was told i was a Type II Diabetic about 3yrs ago, after a denial period and failure to get the weight off and keep it off i decided to follow my Doctor's Advice. :wink_smile: I went back and forth with BCBS Of New Jersey for a few months but after my approval in Aug. Iv'e Eat,sleep,Dreamed and Lived LapBand. This Is A Very Emotional, Life Saving Journey For Me that i am Soooo Excited,Grateful, Anxious,Nervous and Ready To Take. :teeth_smile: My Birthday is Oct.10th, so i have decided to start my (2 week) pre-op diet the day after that:drool:, for which i have several things to Celebrate that day:blush:. My Pre-Op Testing is Oct.23rd, and My Surgery Date is Oct.24th and can't get here fast enough:lol:. Thank You Sunshine for posting that Info. You have No Idea How helpful that Was, I have Copied It and will have it along with the rest of my reading tools. Thank You Meschultz , i know the feeling. even reading the entries of people already banded and looking at everyone's progress photos make me anxious even more to start this journey. my, my, my if i could fast forward time a lilttle bit i would do it. i can't even imagine or try to picture myself smaller( although i've tried). we have alot of rocks to climb i think my first three....1.finally getting approved 2. getting through the pre-opt diet for 2weeks with out eating, 3. getting through the post-op period before your first fill. -

you're right i'm so anxious i can't contain myself. i watched some of your videos on youtube and must say that gurl you are doing it! if you don't mind i do have a question for you. i have always had a concern about losing the weight and having alot of excess skin around the arm and other areas, have you heard anything about how to firm this up to make sure it bounce back ???

Not to get All Nosey but is either one of those procedures covered by your insurance? i know my insurance (BCBS of New Jersey) went back anf forth with me for months. i am responsible for $200. for 2 week supply of pre op diet drink and $1,000 for the assisting Dr. and that was my biggest struggle to come up with. that's why my date is the end of Oct. and my credit is not so good either. i tried to get the $1,200 from the medicredit and apfusa and was turned down. so i completely understand about the money part. i'll have to get it the good old fashion way , which will only make me that much more proud of myself in the end. well stay positive and keep me posted on how it goes.
