    did i make a mistake

i completly understand where you are at i'm about 3 weeks post-op and it does get better as far as the pain as the days go by. by that next week i really felt kind of good. i wasn't in any pain and when i saw how much i lost i was very excited. i was really wanting the liquid phase of the diet to be over also and it became old very fast, so i understand that part also. it's not a mistake and no turning back at this point, so you can't do anything but continue on your journey. they say "No Pain, No Gain", so consider all this pain a huge gain. Please hang in there it does get better by the week

    OMG Gas Pains

Hello Ovrplay, seem like you've had them BAD:scared2:. I'm about 2 weeks post-op and although i did not have them that bad i did have the uncomfortable feeling. Mines only lasted maybe 4 or 5 days after surgery and then all of a sudden i started belching out of no where which was a HUGE relief. I did buy the disovle Gas-X strips which did'nt help me :glare:but may help you. other than that anyone will tell you, walk, walk, walk, walk that's about it ! They will go away and you still need to drink to stay hydrated,DO NOT DRINK FROM A STRAW. trust me it may not seem like it right now but everyday you will see that it gets better. better to sleep, better with the pain, better with the gas! Hang in there:thumbup: Dr.Ernest C. Rehnke Palms Of Pasadena St.Petersburg, Fl.

    Optifast Ideas

Wow Camikat you only have to drink 3 a day:closedeyes:, i had to do 5 a day and there was no cups of veggies...lol Although they did give me 3 different flavors and to me none of them was that bad. Choc. is my least favorite and that's the one i still have some left of. I'm surprised you did'nt have a choice of the flavors:glare: but i have heard of people adding flavor to them or like they say adding coffee to the drink. purhaps if you drink it fast you won't be able to savor the taste:drool:. hang in there it'll be over as fast as it started ! Dr.Ernest C. Letter from Primary care Physican?

hello Jennifer, it seems like this is the letter that the insurance company wants from your primary just to say that they back or approve of the type of surgery you are trying to get and that you will be a good candidate, they always add the medical terms if you have a condition like Diabetes. The insurance company also wants to know if you have been seen by a primary care for over the years and will want to see that weight and height history(sometimes 5 yrs back). And all the different types of diets you have tried and how much you have lost/gained from each of them. It's one of the two depending on what the insurance requires for approval. The Psychiatric Eval is something you have to get done for approval also. when i went to my Consult or Orientation with the surgeon he had a list of Dr. to go through for the Eval and once you are done with the (very long) test:cursing: they will either give you a paper of your results or give it to your surgeon to give to the insurance company. I really don't recall but i do know that my surgeon's office collected all my paperwork (i had everything fax to them)and then once they had everything they submit it all to the insuracne company. Anyone cheat on preop diet?

i was just banded about two weeks ago and actually i started a thread with the same question. my 2 weeks pre-op liquid diet was pretty much Optifast and Clear liquids, no meat, none of that 1 meal a day stuff and i almost lost my mind. my body went into shock probably on the 2nd day and by the 3rd and 4th i did cheat with a boiled egg one day and a piece of cheese bread the other. i was also worried about if i had did something wrong, and did read RestlessMonkey's story and it got me back on the straight and narrow..lol i did call my Dr. office and asked if i could have a boiled egg, being that it is full of Protein and have some type of ingredient that will keep your hair from falling out ! anyhow my surgery went well, i am fine and although i don't advise it i do understand how it is ! 12. Hello Sooverit, Congrads on your up and coming Journey. you will find that everyone is different, so i can only speak as for myself. i went out and bought the disolve Gas-X strips and Liquid Tylenol to be prepared for what everyone was saying they had experienced. But all in all my gas pains only lasted about 4 days after surgery and although they were uncomfortable at first, everything gets better and easier as the days past. i did'nt need the pain meds and the gas-x strips did'nt really work. The only thing you can really do is walk, walk, walk, walk(you'll hear that alot). good luck and i hope that helps Dr. Ernest C. Rehnke Plams Of Pasadena St.petersburg, Fl.
  13. hello Nat0526, love your profile and love your pics. Congrads and Good Luck with your up coming Surgery next week. i know you must be excited and anxious !

  14. okay they need to go ahead and fill my band..lol i feel alot better, this is the end of week 2 post -op and i'm starting to feel and hear the hunger pains. the restriction is pretty much gone and i don't get moved up to mushies until next week. i hope they do something FAST !

  15. hello skyjoe, how are things going? just checking in with you!

  16. hello it's Alicia how are you doing? i'm just checking in on you since it's been awhile to see how you are doing? i had mine on the 24th and really did'nt have all the pains that i had worked myself up to thinking i would feel. i do have the 1 larger incision still, the tape has came off the smaller ones and you really can't tell they are there. where the port is still hurts now and then depending on how i turn and if i sneeze..lol i think i lost 11lb on the pre-op liquid and another 11 the week after my surgery, so you did well with that. i must confess that i broke down the other day and had 2 tablespoons of mashed potatoes. i still have 1 more week before i get moved up to mushies but i'm really starting to be over this liquid stuff. it has gotten old although i understand the importance behind it. i think it satisfied me more mentally than anything, boy it's been sooo hard ! i'm still off from work and don't go back to the Dr. until the 10th so i've started back on just the treadmill. i saw the pics of the belly scars, so how has yours healed so far ?

  17. Hello All i was banded Oct.24th and i first would like to say that Jack said it best :cursing:. for me them trying to place an IV was more painful :ohmy:than the soreness i feel now. i was so ready to be on the other side of pre-op until i wasn't nervous like i thought i would be. i had love ones there with me the entire time, i brought my MP3 player and listened to music and remained calm the entire time. everyone is different but for me it's worth it and very necessary being a type 2 diabetic who can't take pills or lose the weight and keep it off. knowing i have the tool to get the weight off and keep it off and don't have to worry about going up and down is worth it to me! yes i was in pain after surgery and yes it was an experience being that i had never had surgery before. but i'd rather go through that than dialysis from being a diabetic, it doesn't get better with that ! i've lost a total of 22lbs in 3 weeks from the pre-op and post-op liquid diet, i'm still sore but everyday it gets better. i'm not sure i would be able to say that if i had not done this ! P.s I Requested The DVD from my actual surgery and it's Priceless ! Dr.Ernest C. Rehnke Palms Of Pasadena St.Petersburg, Fl. 279/ 268/257
  18. hello kritzz, i'm pretty much right where you are being 7days post -op. im not in too much pain at the port site but i do feel it when i sit or stand. it does'nt bother me anymore to cough, but when i sneezed it almost killed me:bored::cursing:. sometimes even when i'm laying completley still i feel tenderness. and yes that tight feeling also like a weight is hanging..lol it's weird but nomal and i think it can last up to about 6 weeks post-op. i was told because that's where they had to cut and inplant the port . I don't have the gas pains too much anymore either, i'm able to burp more and that's a huge relief. but yes i've had that feeling the entire time now. Dr.Ernest C. Rehnke Palms Of Pasadena St.Petersburg,Fl.

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

hello babyface33, i was banded oct.24th and yes it's normal. your stomach is still swollen so you probably won't feel the hunger feeling until your 3rd week post-op or so. They just want you to stay hydrated right now. it's also normal to feel sore at your port site for about 6 weeks post op. you seem to be moving right along Dr. Ernest C. Rehnke Palms Of Pasadena St.Petersburg, Fl.
  20. oh my gosh i'm right with you on that, i feel like enough is enough already...lol but then i snap back and feel like it's important to follow the rules, which we both know is easier said than done. if you count the pre-op weeks this is my 3rd week liquid and everyday is a battle. my taste buds don't seem to be the same anymore! i am down a total of 22lbs so that's about the only thing that keeps me going right now.

  21. thank you, trust me your time is coming up real fast. at first you can't wait and you count the days and then next thing you know it's time for surgery and if you don't take pictures it will be over and done just like that.

  22. hello Penny, thank you for the friends request and thank you for the blog comment. i did'nt realize that someone had left a comment until days later. i was trying to figure out how to view and reply back to your blog, but it never took me to it! so how's it going so far?

  23. well i was 275 but trying to get in those "LAST SUPERSSSS" i gained 4lbs. so before 2week liquid diet i was 279, before surgery i was 268, and today 6days post op(still on liquids) i am 257. i'm starting to get nervous..lol i've never lost weight like this ever before. that's 22lbs down i have'nt really set a goal yet i just want to be rid of diabetes first.
