Here is a story for you and I'm sure that you will disagree with our decision in it. My son, who is 28 years old, smokes marajuana, and he has resorted to selling it also. It is against the law in Mass. where he lives. He was arrested once for posession when he was in college and we bailed him out of jail. He was arrested again when he was 24, and his friend bailed him out. We told him that if he continued this lifestyle, we would not bail him out of his consequences again. He was recently arrested in Dec. for intent to sell, cause he had 2 lbs. in his friends trunk that he bought and was returning home with. He called us and asked us to bail him out. ($1040.) We said no. Not because we didn't have the money, because we did, but he is a grown man and makes his own decisions and if he chooses to live doing illegal things, then the consequences of his actions are also his own. He sat in jail for 2 weeks, but it could have been 2 months had his younger brother and cousin not come up with the funds to get him out. He now owes back the $1040. plus a lawyers fee, and he lost the money he paid for his marajuiana. He needs to go to court also. Those are big consequences for the risks he takes in breaking the laws. The people he sat in jail with could not believe that his parents would not post his bail. Who does that to their child? They are unloving and uncaring about their son. My son said the same thing about us. He could not believe that we would leave him there. The 2 weeks that he was in jail, I threw up once, lost 7 lbs. from not being able to eat, passed out during a class I teach, and had cold sores all over my lips from stress. I cried every night. But, I don't love him? I don't have compassion for him? Never! I love my son with all my heart. I left him there because I love him. There is nothing better for a person than to endure the consequences for their own actions. Now, this woman who week after week chooses to spend her $75.00 on a carton of smokes rather than buy food for herself will surely see that without food, her stomach will be in pain. She will have to decide what is more important for her. She will eventually choose the food over the cigarettes, cause without the food, she can not go on living. When others enable her to smoke by continuing to supply her with the food that she needs each week, she will never get to that point of helping herself to quit and choose food over cigarettes. This is the problem with democrats. They enable people to be dependant on the government for their needs, instead of themselves. They are afraid to let the consequences for the peoples actions, or lack of actions,to occur.

At least it's not the ones who are supposed to be on your side. (the government) What's the difference which greedy, profit making company controls your decisions? At least right now, 85% of the people are okay with what they have. Who knows what they'll get if the government is in control. We all know how government programs turn out. failure. bankrupt. deficits. higher taxes. waste.

So, we should go from one corrupt form of HC practice to a worse one? I say that since 85% of Americans are happy with their HC the gov. should back out of their plan to change things.

I didn't say that animals were not an important part of God's creation. I just said that they are here today and gone tomorrow. They are not like people who have eternal souls. Jesus did not die for the souls of animals, but for the souls of mankind. They are more important to him than the animals. Otherwise you might be hearing the stories of how he died for them instead of mankind. BTW, how is my stating that animals don't have souls uncompassionate and unloving? Did I create them that way? no. I didn't have a say in whether they would live eternally or not. So how does that make me uncompassionate? wow! -

I want to make sure that you all understand my position on that . I do not feel that God would ask us to give up our lives for the sake of someone elses life.(the mothers) I believe that every woman has the right to defend herself from death. I believe that every person should be allowed to defend themselves from death without repercussion. But according to our laws, the unborn baby is not given that right. He can not defend himself from an abortion. If a woman finds herself in the position while pregnant that her life is at stake, then, and only then, should an abortion be performed. -
Obamacare must lead to medical care rationing. Despite the democratic rhetoric, the government (taxpayer) will be unable to afford basic treatment for everyone, let alone the lavish care most Americans expect to get for free. Those to be denied first will be the aged and the chronically and terminally ill (poor bang for the buck). After that, the U.S. Dept. of Wellness will exclude people with self-inflicted illnesses, beginning with smokers and fatties. Based on what's happening in England, drinkers should also expect to be on the short list for denial. The cash-strapped National Health Service spent $4.4 Billion in the last fiscal year treating patients for drink-related ailments or injuries. Admitting they no longer can afford to subsidise Britians growing binge-drinking culture, a consequence of the sloth and idleness that comes with socialism, NHS officials promised to help HC providers "deal with" the mounting medical bills related to alcohol use and abuse. The clear implications is the NHS is moving towards defunding the coverage and redefining universal care as medicine for everyone whom politicians and government beaurocrats deem deserving. Imagine what our government will start denying us fatties if they are in control of our HC?

Because I believe the promises of God as he has outlined in his words to us, the world will one day be the way God and I both want it. You, OTOH, will not have it the way you want it, unless you turn to God and desire what he wants. Every Christian knows that they have the victory in the end, because the Creator of all of this wins.

God tells us to choose His ways, instead of our own ways; shameful acts done secretly do not please Him. Proverbs 1 29 Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD, 30 since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, 31 they will eat the fruit of their ways Ephesians 5 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. God tells us to CHOOSE to fear the Lord. He tells us to find out what pleases Him. Is God pleased when we end a life that He was in the middle of creating? We should exert a lot of energy and prayer, and Bible study into finding out what pleases the Lord. Often times what pleases Him is not what we would normally do. Have you ever noticed the secrecy behind abortions? Women can go secretly to have them done. Even underage girls don't have to tell their parents! when doctors get together, they often talk about their work and what they do. I have NEVER heard of an abortion provider openly talking about his/hers abortions that were performed that day. There is a mild to moderate amount of secrecy and even shame that surrounds abortion. Most women feel shameful even to mention what they did. It is rare indeed for a woman to talk as openly about her abortion as she would a hysterectomy, tubal ligation, or other gynecological procedures. Likewise, it is as rare for a doctor to talk as openly about his abortion practice as he would other parts of his practice. This is truly a shameful, secretive practice. Find out what pleases the Lord!!! ___________________________________________________________________________ -

The Bible specifically condemns partial birth abortion as against God's will Exodus 1 15 The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, 16 "When you help the Hebrew women in childbirth and observe them on the delivery stool, if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live." 17 The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. 18 Then the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, "Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?" 19 The midwives answered Pharaoh, "Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive." 20 So God was kind to the midwives and the people increased and became even more numerous. **The king of Egypt commanded the midwives to kill a male baby just as he becomes visible from the birth canal. This is known today as partial birth abortion. The midwives FEARED GOD [because doing so was against God's will] and did not do it and so God blessed the midwives 1) Notice that even the king of Egypt recognized partial birth abortion as murder when he told the midwives to KILL a baby as he becomes visible. 2) God blessed the Hebrew midwives for not carrying out partial-birth abortion -

Job 31:15 Did not He who made me in the womb make them [Job's servants]? Did not the Same One for us both within our mothers? 1) We are a unique creation of God. We were formed directly by God before we were born. This means that unborn babies are special to God. Should we abort a baby that God is working on? Should we interrupt Him and destroy his "wonderful" masterpiece???? 2) The womb is intended to be a place where God works His creative action, not where man works his destructive action. -

We have a hard enough time trying to get the laws to support the abolishing of the murders that go on with abortions, never mind trying to figure out if someone intentionally killed their baby with drugs or overeating or alcohol. Let's stick with the abortion issue. Just so you know how I feel about your question, it's yes. If she intentionally does drugs or drinks alcohol in hopes to kill her baby, then she is attempting murder. -
I do not like the idea that people line up at the food banks that are there to feed the poor, yet buy a carton of cigarettes at approximately $75.00 every week. These people could be using that money for food and the food pantry could be giving their donations to those who really need them. If you have a problem with that, too bad. Whether my pastor knows how I feel about that or not is no concern of mine or his. But, if he doesn't, I have no qualms about sharing my opinions with him.

One thing I noticed on this thread was that there was NO response to the clip I posted concerning "The Silent Scream". Did anyone view it? It showed the abortion process and what it does to the poor, undeserving, innocent baby. -

I agree. Psalm 51:5 "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." Here the Bible states that David [and all mankind] were sinful at the moment of conception. Surely we could not use the term "sinful" to describe a piece of tissue that is not alive! To be "sinful" you would at least have to be alive! As humans we have inherited a sin nature [a.k.a. the flesh]. This sin nature was inherited at the moment of conception. A sinful nature is not found in "primordial tissue" that is without life. The term "sinner" refers then to those who are alive. -

Exodus 21 22 "If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows. 23 But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise. 1) If a woman gives birth prematurely, but there is no serious injury--i.e. the baby lives without harm, then a fine results to compensate for the assault. 2) If a woman gives birth prematurely, and the baby dies, then the assailant is to be given the death penalty. This point is HUGE!!! What God is saying here is that the value and worth of an adult man is equal to the value and worth of an unborn fetus who was young enough, or injured enough, to die. God equates the loss of an unborn baby as the loss of a life, for He says, "you are to take life for life,..." This point cannot be emphasized too strongly. God considers the unborn baby alive, and the loss of that life is considered murder. This murder is punishable with the death penalty. This verse demonstrates three truths: a) The unborn's life is equivalent in value to an adult's life in God's sight :tt1: This also outlines God's Law against criminal feticide. c) The killing of the unborn is murder -

Anyone who intentially kills another human being is considered a murderer. "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those who are perishing." Proverbs 31:8 "The chief purpose of government is to protect life. Abandon that and you have abandoned all." Thomas Jefferson -

Hummingbird, You are right. My response was uncalled for. I'm sorry. Will you please forgive me? Sometimes people are so rude and disrespectful to me, that I respond in kind not even realizing that I am being the same way. I apologize. Patty -
No. I have found a preacher who uses the scriptures accurately. He prays for the Holy Spirit to guide him in all that he says and does, and therefore, what he speaks lines up with the word of God which is the truth. I have that word in my hands and can confirm what he says within it. If what he says contradicts what I know to be true from reading God's words, then I would know he were wrong.

Just as abortion is legal and should be,( as far as you're concerned)why not make drugs legal then? Duh! Because they shouldn't be!!! Just like abortion shouldn't be. Just because someone might use drugs in the back alley illegally (like they might have an abortion in the back alley illegally) doean't mean we should make them legal so that those who think of doing that won't get hurt. That's an analogy. -

I have sat for over 20 years and listened to the sermons of my Pastor for that long. I adamnatly agree with all that he says. If I didn't, I'd be having church elsewhere. Obama sat under the preaching of that man for the same amount of time, and never left becuase he, too, adamantly agrees with his stand on things. Don't tell me that he sat through his sermons disagreeing with him just because he liked the donuts they served afterwords during fellowship time. I think we all know better than that.
