You are welcome. I enjoy posting with you and the others here, even if most of the time there are none who seem to stand with me on my views.

I weighed 281 on a 5'6" frame. I had diabetes, too. I had the lap band put in and haven't been on diabetes medicine since the day after my surgery, nor do I need it any more. But, I've only been able to achieve a 60 lb weight loss after the first 9 months and I'm holding steady at 220 for the last 9 months. I am happy to be 60 lbs. less, and off meds, and I am soooo much more comfortable, but was hoping to get down to a reachable, realistic goal of 180. I am 40 lbs. shy of that, and because it has been 9 months since I've had any weight loss, I'm assuming that this is my reachable weight with the lap band. I've weighed about 215 most of my adult life, and am comfortable there, but my last 7 years I gained those 60 lbs from the diabetes meds I was taking, and the lap band allowed me to tkae them off. I had no complications from it. It helps me from overeating, and hopefully it will keep me from ballooning to 281 again. So, everyone has a different story to tell about their lap band experience. I hope mine helps you.:w00t:

All I needed to know about HC reform was that the government wanted to have their own plan and be in charge of it and eventually get rid of all other HI plans and be the only option that the people had. That's all I needed to know to be against it! That's socialism. Never mind the fact that now that it is not going to happen, they are meeting behind closed doors to reform what's left and giving the unions and others opportunity to be exempt from their plans through 'deals'. It's been one corrupt bribe to the next with these democrats! All Obama wants to be able to say is "Look! I reformed Health Care!" Even if the reform stinks.

leave it to a liberal to take the least educated person and classify him with the conservative group and say he represents the whole of us. wrong. First of all, I believe that paying my bills is my responsibility whether I agree with the companies policies or not. Personally, I wouldn't use credit cards myself. 2nd, I did not use going to the ER as a reason to not have the HC public option. My reason was mainly to NOT have the government involved in it. As for the 'reform' part of HC, If the bill was so great that they are putting together, then why does everybody fight for a special exemption from it. It must stink. His last statement,

It's not enough for us to raise our voices, we must raise our princples to match bible principles and raise our children to do the same. The preachers of permissiveness have produced a jungle for our posterity, and when you realize the moral environment our children must grow up in, by comparison, Sodom and Gomorrah must have resembled a monestary. Just as the sodomites have come out of the closet and the fornicators have exchanged the sleazy motel rooms for co-ed dormatories, so we Christians must leave the safety and the security of the churches to tell men that Jesus Christ is the only hope for this world, and the bible morality is the only hope for our civilization. My grandchildren will not point to me someday and acuse me of cowardice for not raising my voice against pigpen morality. We Christians have confused meakness with weakness for too long. We have been too quiet and patient with those who tell us that prostitutes, pimps and pornographers are not villians, and that we must be careful not to bruise the constitutional rights of the atheists, abortionists, and anarchists. It seems that the communists, criminals, and moral cripples have more rights than those who make up the largest group paying the taxes, fighting the wars, building the factories, and producing the goods. We Christians have shown little class and less courage in our opposition to the forces of evil that are degrading our cities, demoralizing our citizens, and damning our children. We really need a code of Christian principles to follow. -

liberals march and scream over the slaughter of baby seals in Newfoundland, but they can't squeeze out a single tear for the butchered babies who can't even raise a whimper of protest against their slaughter. They profess to be terribly concerned over the horrific problem of child abuse, yet their spokesmen tell us the answer to the child abuse is to slaughter the babies before their birth! My, my , with 'defenders' like that, those innocent , helpless ones don't need any enemies. This proves once again that the only thing consistant about liberals is their inconsistency! -

It is interesting to note that those who advocate abortion almost always are against the death penalty because it is 'cruel' and 'unreasonable'. Let's see if I understand that. They don't want a convicted killer executed, but they do want innocent babies killed if they may become an inconvenience to the living. I believe such non-thinking proves that reading the New York Times and the Washington Post has a tendency to rot the brain of liberals. -

Do you laugh at fools? I do. 1 Corinthians 3:18-21 18Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness"[a]; 20and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."[b] 21So then, no more boasting about men! Scientists may say or feel that they have all the answers, but only God has all the answers. -
more are satisfied with the cost of HC than not. 83% percent of Americans rate the quality of healthcare they receive as excellent or good, while only 15% say theirs is poor. Slightly less, 70%, say their healthcare coverage is excellent or good. These ratings have been fairly stable in the seven years in which Gallup's Healthcare survey has been conducted.

I 'know' what the scientific method is. You think I don't have a foundation but I know I do. And that's what matters. A foundation is the basis on which something is grounded. My thinking is grounded in biblical understanding. And yours? I believe, are your own life's experiences and thoughts. Whether they are 'scientifically' proven to be true or not is irrelevent. I don't need science to authenticate what I believe. I have the bible. And in it, my God tells me that he laughs at the so called 'wisdom' of man. -
85% of all americans are satisfied or happy with their healthcare right now. With those high percentages, why mess with it?

Is Obama in trouble? No one in the White House is celebrating over the latest polls. President Obama’s job approval rating has dipped below 50 percent in a flurry of recent surveys. Rasmussen has him at 46 percent; Quinnipiac at 45; in Gallup he’s clinging to 50. The Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor Poll released Thursday had some heart-stopping numbers for Democrats: The president’s job approval was at 47 percent, down from 61 percent in April. Only 26 percent of respondents said they strongly approved of the president’s performance, compared to 38 percent in April. Just 39 percent said they would probably vote to reelect him, just 23 percent definitely. To put this into historical context, Gallup’s Lydia Saad notes that: Obama's initial approval rating in his second year as president is among the lowest for elected presidents since Dwight Eisenhower. Only Ronald Reagan -- who, like Obama, took office during challenging economic times -- began his second year in office with a lower approval score (49%). However, Obama's disapproval rating is slightly higher than Reagan's was (44% vs. 40%). (Washington Post)

Those for this reform of HC say that it will bring down the deficit and save Americans money. This is true, but only in the first 5 years after the plan starts. Why? Because nothing happens for the first 5 years except the collecting of taxes from the people. Then when the reform begins (in 5 years) they will be able to pay for it with the collected money + the continued collection of money. But what happens in 10 years from now? When they have only the money they are collecting and none of the 'saved' up money left. That's when we are screwed. Because there won't be enough tax coming in to support all this HC. That's when the rationing will begin. (You can't have what you can't pay for.) But what does Obama care? He won't be around at that time to take the heat for what he's done. It will be another president who we will be cursing and pissed at.

Pattygreen: Christians (usually conservative republicans) for the most part try to live moral, virtuous, nonsinful lives.

What are your thoughts on hunting?
pattygreen replied to jessress87's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If a democrat had done that and donated the game to a food bank you would have called that a worthy cause. But because it was Cheney he doesn't get a pass. How typical of you. Now, noone knows for sure if the game was donated or not, so , my opinion on hunting is if you're not eating it, you shouldn't kill it unless someone else is going to eat it. If you want a shooting, or bow and arrow sport, use a target board or cans. As far as animals in general go, they are put here for the use of mankind, and some for man's companionship, and others for food. They have no eternal souls that live on forever, so once they are dead, that's it. They're gone. In light of that truth, I don't judge others who use them as sport. But I feel that it is wasting God's gifts to mankind. -
The ONLY reason you people don't like her is because she is a Christian. You may not 'think' that's your reason for not liking her, but it is. You can't really put your finger on your reasons for your hatred towards her. You say she's unintelligent, she hunts, or some other stupid reason to hate her, but really, are those real reasons to hate someone? She's never done anything that's so so bad. She's actually a nice person, a good mom to her family, she's a working mom, too. She cares about people and is very giving. So, what exactly is it that you hate about her? I know. It's her Christianity. You can't stand the fact that she claims to be a Christian, and she actually is one. You don't like her because others who don't agree with your way of thinking like her, and this bothers you. For there are no real reasons to choose her from the many other people out there to not like. Sarah Palin is a well liked woman by conservatives, and others as well. You have no logical or legitimate reason to hate her, so it must be her faith. God said to Christians, "Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you." (1John 3:15) This is the true reason for your hate for her and any other proclaiming Christian: Because Jesus said this to Sarah, and all Christians alike: "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is better than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they would obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.(God) John 15:18-21

Let's examine the word "Extremist." It's a time honored tradition of liberals to use it on Conservatives, but let's take a closer look at the real meaning. Extreme;last, final, radical,as extreme social ideas, farthest,as the extreme boundary. Those are just a couple words used to describe it. Now, let's examine the so-called Right-wing and what they stand for: Pro-life for a "choice" for the baby of being alive, Marriage being between a man and a woman, Low taxes and Fiscal Responsibility,Being Proud of your Country and what it stands for, Defending the Security of this Country and taking proper measures against the terrorists who want to kill us,etc. Now, let's examine the "left-wingers ideas-Pro-choice-meaning a woman has "reproductive rights" and can choose to have her baby murdered, changing the meaning of Marriage to include anyone marrying anyone under the guise of "equality", High taxes to pay for all of the unnecessary bills that they are trying to push on the American people,Being embarrassed of your Country and what it stands for and having to make around the world trips to apologize for our "divisive and derisive actions" taken over the years?, Being lax on security, because the alleged criminals who are attempting their "man-made disasters" on us, are also entitled to an attorney and their Miranda Rights and a full-blown, paid for by US, trial, etc. Now, after examining the REAL FACTS, who would you say are the Extremists??.

Like I said, you have alot to learn about God. I did not grow up in a Christian or religious home. I was born again at the age of 25. So, your 'brainwashing' theory is all washed up. I didn't know what wisdom was until I found God, and neither will you. Also, knowing God does not mean that I am not responsible for my own actions. Just what actions are you talking about that I, or other Christians, am not being responsible for? You should 'think' about what you write before you spout off your mouth.
