But, because he has shown to be a humanitarian and has done sooooo much for the people of Haiti in the past, and will in the future also, I'm willing to overlook it. (Just like you liberals overlooked Reid's racist remarks towards Obama because he endorsed his campaign and did so much for the african american people. )

Let's just say that the majority of abortions are not done because of rape or incest. That's not the majority. Are their millions of rapes that end up in pregnancy each year that end up being aborted? no.

But I would like to note that you left out the rest of his talk about how he asks that people everywhere pray for them and give generously to them, and how his ministry plans to do the same. Also, about how his organization has helped the people of Haiti tremendously over the years, even before the earthquake hit them. It is true that God will keep his hand upon those who call upon him. He will protect his children from danger, calamity, and grief if they ask him to. If they acknowledge him, He will acknowlege them. This is one reason for why America is such a blessed Nation. We are a predominantly Christian Nation. The prayers of God's children go up to him daily here and he watches out for them because of it. "Blessed is the Nation that serves the Lord". Earthquakes, volcano's, and natural disasters occur because this is the way the earth is. It happens. But, when the people call out to God on a daily basis for their country, (as christians in America do every day) God protects them from what would naturally occur. If you live in a country where the majority of the people worship a false God, you may not have the protection of your creator if you do not acknowledge that He exists. But God uses these calamaties to draw those that have ignored him to himself. I noticed that many people were crying out to God for forgiveness and for his help after the earthquake. I see that through the missionaries who went there to minister to them many have come to Jesus as their Savior. Sometimes it takes a catastrophy before the heart of man turns to God. God is just trying to get their attention so that they will not be lost eternally. He did not bring the earthquake upon them. Nature itself did that. He allowed it though, because God is in control of all things. He loves them. To God, time is nothing. This life we live is but a breath to him he says. Eternity is forever. It is better to give your life to Christ now while you can, than to die and live eternally without him.

Phil, When a sperm meets an egg, a life is formed. God then forms that life in the womb. God does not control what humans do. He gives us much free choice. The consequences for the wrong choices as well as the right choices come whether we like them to or not.

He will love you, that is for sure. He will not support anyones choice to have an abortion, no matter what the situation. You can not murder a life that God has created. period. Only God can take life from mankind. Him alone.

If that were to happen, the best thing would be to put the child up for adoption. Any choice is better than murdering the unborn, innocent baby. The baby has NOTHING to do with the acts that happened prior to its conception. It should not suffer at its mother's hand due to the circumstances beyond its control. Mothers are supposed to protect their children, not kill them. Let me just say that the majority of abortions are done because of inconvenience for the mother. Not incest or rape. These abortions are rare. Therefore arguing about them makes no sense. Let's argue about the millions of abortions that happen simply because "it wasn't a good time for me to have a baby.":rolleyes: I'd absolutely LOVE it if the law changed so that only those who were raped could get abortions. It still wouldn't be right, but it would save millions of babies from being aborted from 'stupid, selfish' reasons that the mother deems appropriate for murder.

As I have said before, you need to take the bible as a whole, not just pull one scripture out and use it to make a doctrine on. There are many scriptures that teach that: Josph 'knew' not Mary until she had given birth to Jesus. This means that he didn't have any sex with her until after Jesus was born. So, she was a virgin at the conception of Jesus, but after he was born, she went on to have a normal marriage with Joseph which included sex. So, you can see that if you take ALL of the scriptures in the bible that relate to the subject of Mary's virginity, you get a truth that can not be denied. If you built your denomination on something other than that truth, you will fight to the death to defend it, even if it's wrong because you don't want to lose your denomination to untruths. BTW, who cares if she was sexless all her life or not? It's irrelivent. It matters not. The point I am trying to make is that you must use all of the bible to determine a position on an issue, not just pull one verse out to condone something you want to make acceptable. People need to have a foundation to go to when making decisions about laws. If you don't have one, then the laws will be whatever seems right in the eyes of the ones writing them. This should not be, for what you deem acceptable, I may not and vice versa. Especially when it comes to issues like abortion, b/c those who are against it feel that it is murdering a human being and no one should have the right to do that. If the law being considered were something of insignificance, no big deal, but this law is very significant. Liberals want conservatives to not only allow such atrocities to occur, but to pay for them through their tax dollars as well. How arrogant! Is it not enough that the law favors your 'choice'? You must also demand that those who oppose your 'choice' pay for it as well? How sick and demented is that?!

It is sooooo hard for you to imagine that someone would actually NOT abort a baby if they were raped!? I talked with my husband about it last night and he agrees with me. If I were raped, we would raise the child together, and he would hold nothing against the baby, for it wasn't his fault that he had to come into this world through the sinful act of a rapist. Besides, the child would be half MY child. How could I kill MY child? NEVER! I can understand how you could never find peace with a situation that is out of your control, like a pregnancy from a rape, because you seem to have no trust in God. You would be able to have peace and understanding if you understood how God would be with you through the whole thing and honor the fact that you would not kill someone because of the sin of someone else. Another thing that would give me peace and assurance about a pregnancy from rape would be the fact that I understand the sinful nature of mankind. I know how man is destined to be sinful and because of that, bad things happen to others, even myself. God can use even the horrible things that happen in life to bring Glory to Himself and to bring good out of any situation.

The catholics say that Mary was a virgin all her life but the bible teaches that Jesus had brothers and sisters. This is their doctrine, yet it is WRONG. It does not line up with God's word. The Jehovah's Witnesses say that Jesus is not God. This does not line up with the word. The baptists feel that you can't lose your salvation, ever. This is in contradiction to the word of God. So, you see, there are many people who feel they have it right, and do not. I am sure there are things that I feel strongly about, but may have wrong. But at least I admit that if it doesn't line up with God's word, I'm wrong about it. Now, what have I said about homosexuals, abortions or any other issue we are posting about here that is not correct as far as the bible is concerned? I will tackle them one issue at a time and show you through God's word that he is against them.

By going to war in Iraq, we have removed an ally of al-Qaida and cut off a large source of their terrorist funding. The liberation of Iraq is a crucial advance in the campaign against terror. We do know that there was a long history of Saddam Hussein and his regime and ties to terrorism, including al-Qaida. One of the reasons we went to war against Saddam was because he posed a threat in a region from which the 9/11 threat emerged. If we could have been successful in Iraq, if we could stand up a good, representative government in Iraq that secures the region so that it never again becomes a threat to its neighbors or to the United States, so it's not pursuing weapons of mass destruction, so that it's not a safe haven for terrorists,this would have struck a major blow right at the heart of the geographic base of the terrorists who have had us under assault now for many years, but most especially on 9/11.

Our leaders never had to 'simply' announce that we were being attacked. We knew we were being attacked! That is the difference. In 1946, there wasn't much communication that spreads like it does today. At that time, they could 'lie' and say their country was under attack and get the people to go to war through deceit. That's not possible today.

I understand that people interpret verses to mean different things. But you can not just take a verse out of the bible and make your own 'doctrine' out of it. You must take the bible as a whole and consider all the verses that speak of the death penalty and God's judgement and his just charachter and his laws and reasonings to form a biblical truth about an issue.

This forum is a "rants and raves" forum. That is what we do here. On this forum there are many controversial issues being discussed. The debate is about those issues. When I speak about them, you hear my point of view on them, whether right or wrong, not necessarily my of view on what people should be doing in life, like good deeds, caring for the sick and feeding the hungry. Conservative do not feel that taking care of the sick, feeding the hungry or those other things you mentioned are sinful. Where do you get that? But, if you want to know how I participate in these things, I will share them. They are high on my priority list. I contribute to my church food pantry and local food pantry often. I have taken in children to care for them. (I did 20 years of Foster care) And have adopted 3 abused and neglected children. I teach a local girls club class. I have taught Sunday school. I write weekly to a young man in prison, and I give to the prison ministry that is set up by men in my church. I donate to the clothing drives. I support missionaries in many countries. I support the Teen Challenge Program in CT that helps drug and alcohol addicted people. I have cared for the elderly for many years and bring entertainment and services to them. I am not a sit back and complain Christian. I try to do what I am able to do for my community. I do not believe that I am lying when I make a blanket statement about liberals. Jesus called the pharasees and Saducees 'hypocrites!' in a blanket statement. Did he mean 'all' Pharasees and 'all' Saducees were hypocrites? Or was he giving a generalization of them? As for being afraid to examine evidence that is contrary to my belief sytem, there is none. The bible is God's word and I believe it. I will never put any of man's writings or words ahead of or above His. I have looked at many things that people have written that they feel out trumps what God has to say, but I don't believe any of it. I am not afraid to look into it at all. I just don't believe it over what the bible says.

The death penalty is not for ALL prisoners. Only those who bring about death. Jesus said to remember those in prison because there are many who have committed crimes that are not deserving of the death penalty.

This is not true. If my child came out and told me he or she were gay. I would not change my stand on homosexuals. It is a sin to have sex with the same sex. period. I would tell my child that he may think that having sex with men is what he wants to do but that God forbids it. If he chooses to give in to his desires, he will be sinning against God. He would need to choose what he wants to do. Forgo sex with men or be obedient to God. It's his choice, and I would allow him to make it. Just like I allow all my children to make their own choices in life. I would not, however, change the meaning of scripture to condone the way he would like to live. If I were raped, and by chance became pregnant, I would be having and raising another child. No doubt about it. I would NEVER murder a baby simply because it might be too hard for me to go through being pregnant by my rapist. Murder is not the answer. 2 wrongs don't make anything right. If it were my daughter, I would do my best to talk her out of making a decision to kill her baby. ( I believe I know my daughter very well, and she would not consider abortion if she were raped either. We both do not believe in murdering the unborn for any reason except to protect the life of the mother) Even if she did it anyway because the laws allowed it, I would have forgiveness for her. But I would never change the meaning of scripture to condone her having an abortion.
