Are you kidding me?! If that's the way it is, Heaven is going to be empty. God will be sitting there all alone. Because every man is a liar and a sinner. EVERY human! "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." There is not ONE who will get there on their own good works or merit. BTW, you are so wrong about Christrians.

Once again, I do not advocate for NO regulations whatsoever. Just as I don't advocate for NO welfare ever. I just feel that there are too many of them, and it is getting out of hand now. Many on these forums have a yes or no, all or nothing, mentality. What ever happened to a middle ground? The government has crossed over the middle and is heading to far to the other end.

Of course they did. :smile2: It is not my place to point out to people (personally) their sins or wrong doing. Before you jump all over that statement I want you to recognize that this is a rants and raves forum and these are very controversuial issues that we are discussing, so when I point out wrongs, IMO, on these forums, it is because this is the place where I can do that. I would never personally tell someone that they are doing wrong. God will one day reveal their wrongs to them, just as he did for me.

You have no clue about who I surround myself with. I only tell you one or two examples for the sake of not having to write all the cases out. There are plenty of people who I know or have heard about who are taking advantage of the systems in some way. I had 5 kids on WIC back in the day. I used to practically live at that WIC office. You wait there forever and talk to everyone who is collecting the food checks along with all the employees. I'm not the only one who knows what a sham that program is.

People are the government. Those who are running it know who they are. They know full well of their own corruption, deceit and crookedness.

I have a better suggestion. STOP all the SPENDING!!! STOP making more programs and adding to them on a weekly basis. We can't afford them. My advice is to get out in November and vote the rats out. This is the only place I go where if politics is talked about, I am the odd duck. At work, at gatherings, at my husbands job at the bank, among friends and family, Obama and what his administration is doing to our country is held in disgust! I just happened to get caught up with the few of you here who love our government and all the spending sprees and the welfare and who love having the feds take care of your needs financially. Well, I prefer independence as opposed to dependence on them for my welfare. sad lot.

Exactly. And our duties are just that. OURS! Not the governments or anyone elses. For we will answer to God for the things WE have done in the flesh, whether good or bad. Not the things the government or anyone else has done. And thank God for that, too. Cause most of the things that our government has done will send them to hell.

    Health Care

Obamacare is the next step toward socialistic America The federal health-care bill passed last month has a monumental omission: It allows the denial of coverage until 2014 for children with pre-existing conditions. As this was a frontispiece for President Obama in his promotion of the bill and Democrats made so much of it, it boggles the mind they could have omitted it. One is left to decide whether Democrats are incompetent or stupid. Or maybe it's something else. The bill is designed to destroy the private insurance industry. It requires all Americans to have insurance and provides for penalties for those who do not comply, and for businesses that do not provide coverage for employees. But the penalties are far less than the cost of a good basic health-care plan, so it makes financial sense to not have insurance until you get sick, at which time you can buy it because you no longer can be denied coverage. The Internal Revenue Service is supposed to levy the penalties and expects to add 16,500 employees. The problem is the IRS cannot make you pay. Democrats have not made failure to have coverage a crime. The Joint Committee on Taxation said: "The use of liens and seizures otherwise authorized for collection of taxes does not apply to the collection of this penalty. Non-compliance with the personal responsibility requirement to have health coverage is not subject to criminal or civil penalties under the Code and interest does not accrue for failure to pay such assessments in a timely manner." No seizures, liens, interest, or civil or criminal penalties. No way to collect. Now why would anyone do this? The answer is to destroy the private insurance industry. Only sick people will seek insurance. That means healthy people, who are crucial to making a system work, will avoid coverage until they need it. That means a huge drain on the insurance system and monumentally high premiums; eventually more than anyone realistically can afford, and eventually they'll drop out. It's a death spiral, and it is what Obama and the Democrats intended. They will destroy an industry so that they can institute single-payer and control all of medicine. That means the loss of the 65,000 insurance jobs remaining in this state. It means another industry lost to this state. It means enormous losses of salaries, jobs, property taxes and losses to related industries. I cannot remember a time when the federal government sought by design to destroy an entire industry. I cannot remember when the U.S. government went to war against its own people. Welcome to the new world. You have congressional Democrats to thank for this. Remember them in November. And what of those promises of keeping your doctor and your plan if you choose? Forget it. They are as worthless as every other promise Barack Obama ever made. This was never about health care. It's about complete control of your life, and this is the first step. Just wait until you see financial reform, amnesty and cap-and-trade. They're all puzzle pieces to complete the transformation of this country into the United Socialist States of America. John Kanca III

The government should never give away our tax dollars to corporations either. People who are in business need to take care of their own finances or get out of the business.

This is exactly why the government should stop producing all these stupid, wasteful spending programs. Once a program is started, you can't get rid of them. You just continue to pay for them forever. They just keep adding to them and adding to them more and more and before you know it, we're right where we are right now. In financial collapse and destuction and bankruptcy! The people cry out when you take away something that you have been enabling them with. When you take away their WIC, for example, then they have to use the money that they have been using to go out to dinner once a week on juicy-juice and milk instead. They get angry when the gov. takes away something that they have become dependant on. Therefore, the gov. shouldn't have even started giving free things to the people. People should have to use their noggins and figure out ways to come up with the extra 20 bucks every week to buy 'extra' groceries. How about lawn mowing? Or shoveling snow in the winter? Aside from your regular job. How about selling those craft projects you're so good at making on ebay once a week to come up with some extra money for heat next winter. Why not have a tag sale. Just one tag sale can come up with enough money to fill your oil tank next year. Put it away and save for that hard time when it's cold out. Then you won't need to apply for energy assistance. Let me tell you, if the government didn't provide it for you, you would do just those kinds of things and many other things to stay warm next winter. But because the feds are there to provide it for you, you take it. You become dependent on them and the rest of America is stuck with your bill! It's just not right.

You are right when you say that we should protect the kids. But this is not the point I am trying to make. The point is the OVER regulation to the point of not wanting to bother with starting a business because your end profit does not justify all the work, regulations, requirements, etc. to get that $3.00 an hour you charge to watch someones child while they work. Where at one time you could babysit in your home and make money while staying home with your kids, today it isn't possible due to the government. Do you know that in CT you have to buy a 'special' license to fiish in the Atlantic ocean? $45.00 a year! That used to be one of those things that Americans could do on their leisure time like riding a bike or walking in the park or hiking that was free to enjoy. But the gov. needed to get involved. It was just another way for them to make a buck so they could continue to support all those wonderful programs that they have that gives things away for free. Oh, and of course now they have to employ wardens to cruise the Atlantic and fine those who don't comply. These government workers make two to three times more than the average private sector jobs, they get lavish HC and retirement and pension benefits as well as much more sick time and personal time than anyone else in a regular job. The government simply wastes our money like no tomorrow!

Governments have to find reasons to keep their programs going and thus have the (tax) funds to run them. When the people running the WIC offices tell those who apply that they have to have a medical reason to be on it, and they don't have one, these workers will make something up. I don't believe that children will die if WIC wasn't around. BEFORE WIC came into existance, there was not ONE death that came from a lack of cheerioes or juicy juice. There are many programs that can be eliminated and you can be assured that people will not die because of it. I was on WIC when my first 5 were born and until they reached 5 years old. Then I didn't get it anymore. My last 5 never had WIC and they're not malnurished or dead. My neighbor's son had WIC till he was 2. He stopped getting WIC vouchers when he was 2 and now he's 5 even though she was still eligible for them. He's not dead or unhealthy for that lack of 3 years he didn't get any WIC vouchers. It is bogus!

There are many private businesses that watch their pennies. Big businesses that are corrupt, are grouped in with private sector small businesses where the government is concerned. When there is a regulation for big business, it goes for small ones too. This is where the people who want to open a business get screwed.

You don't know me from anyone. Like I said, it WASN'T good for me. I had every opportunity to continue to abuse the system back then. I could have lived with my boyfriend instead of getting married, and that would have kept both welfare and his income coming into the house. You know, I didn't have to say a word about my own experience with welfare, but I thought that it would shed light as to how people abuse the system. I am confident enough in myself to admit to others that I am not a perfect person and that it was wrong for me to get on welfare and accept WIC and energy assistance when I was in my early 20's. I know people who are abusing it right now. People work under the table and collect unemployment. They lie about how many people live in their households. They meet the income guidelines because they dont tell all their income to the fed worker they are applying with. I see it all the time.

I am against corporate welfare, but because I don't know much about it, I don't rant about it. It's not because I favor one more than the other. I am just corporate welfare illiterate.

What may be a 'good' thing for you may be yet another pain in the butt for someone else. When there are too many pains in the butt, you get aggrevation and higher costs for those who want to be in business. It may even be the last straw that turns people away from going into businesses of their own. This calorie posting thing is only one out of many thousands of regulations that small businesses have to comply with. When government keeps adding to the list, it gets costly, time consuming and aggravating. It even deters some people from even getting started in owning their own business, because they take a long look at everything the gov. requires just to open a restaurant, for example, and get turned off with all the petty regulations and requirements. Where once you could sell hotdogs on the side of the road, today you need to have a license and many other requirements just to eek out a living. I'm not saying that ALL regulating is bad, so don't go off on a tangent. But there needs to be a balance, and the gov. needs to back off some. It is too much now. Aren't they trying to create jobs? It seems to me with all their regulations, they are trying to deter people from owning businesses that employ people. When I first started my daycare business, there was approx. 4 pages of rules and requirements for operating an in home day care. That was about 20 years ago. (before that people didn't need a license to babysit and get paid for it. Anyone could do it) 12 years later, the pages grew to 38. Everything from "a daycare provider could not keep her perfume on her dresser" to "the bathroom garbage can needed a lid on it". Absolutely these are good rules to follow when caring for children, but does the gov. really need to get involved in what people do in their own homes. It's not like a daycare that cares for 50 kids outside a home in a facility. Moms know that kids can swallow perfume if they get ahold of it. I raised 10 kids and always kept my perfume on my dresser and they never touched it. It's a matter of principle The gov. doesn't need to regulate and set sooooo many rules for us. This is what I refer to when I speak of some of those freedoms that are being taken away.

My opinions on government waste have nothing to do with being a Christian. Just because Cleos's assumes that I had some kind of talk with teachers about kids who are getting free lunch doesn't mean it happened. That's her imagined scenerio. I overhear what is being said about others, and I happen to know alot of people in my town personally. As a Christian, I believe in giving to the poor and helping those in need. I am a very generous person with my finances, and time. It has nothing to do with that. Government steals from people to give to others and themselves, in a sense, when they are not good stewards of the money (taxes) they take in. When they pass out funds that they don't even have, they are putting us into deeper debt. Just because I don't feel that head start is something the gov. should waste their money on, doesn't mean I'm a selfish Christian. It means I don't feel the government should WASTE our money.

You are determined to believe that the government is our end all, be all. The government is scrambling for ways to be able to pay for all these programs without raising taxes, because the people can't afford any more taxes, yet they will NEVER eliminate wasteful programs, because there will always be some donkey out there who will say "but, the children....." "But the homeless......" But the park is needed......" "But the teachers will have to get laid off...." But he needs a college education..." But.... But... But.... Where will it end? It is NOT the governments place to support the people. It is not the peoples place to support each other financially. They may if they choose, but this should never be forced. Taxes to helpsome who desperately need it for a time is acceptable.

Did that all make you feel good about yourself? I have seen ALOT of welfare fraud by others. I includeed myself, at one time, because I want to make it clear that even people who try to do the right thing in life will take what is given for free if the opportunity is there for them to take it. Whether they truly 'need' it or not.) You're right when you say I wouldn't do that today. I was 19 then, now I'm 48. People change. I'm not afraid to confess my wrong doings or my past mistakes. But many do take advantage of the system. Most of these government give aways are not "needed". Oh, yes, they help alot. There is no doubt about that, but essentially needed? No. What did all these women who had young children do before the WIC program began? They bought their own milk and eggs. The income guidelines for WIC are crazy. I was working at the time, and could afford my weekly groceries. WIC, to me, was a free bonus. I would have gotten by without the $400. in free oil I got 2 years in a row, also. That, too, was a bonus. I know MANY, and I mean Many, who take advantage of the energy assistnace program. The government should ONLY give free oil to people who have absolutely no resources and need it.

I must have missed that question. I am a CNA in a Skilled Nursing Facility that primarily cares for Alzheimer's patients, but not all. I do some companion work also. I've done that for the past 2 years even though I've been licensed for about 15 years. I worked in other convelescent homes and did alot of private duty care. Before that, I ran my own daycare business for 12 years when my own kids were young.
