BORDER SECURITY STATEMENT: “We need tougher border security, and a renewed focus on busting up gangs and traffickers crossing our border. . . . That begins at home, with comprehensive immigration reform. That means securing our border and passing tough employer enforcement laws.” Then-candidate Obama, discussing the need for border security, speaking in Miami on May 23, 2008. EXPIRATION DATE: March 17, 2010: The Obama administration halted new work on a “virtual fence” on the U.S.-Mexican border, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced Tuesday, diverting $50 million in planned economic stimulus funds for the project to other purposes.

EXPIRATION DATE: Throughout the summer, fall, and winter of 2009 and 2010; when John McCain asked about it during the health-care summit February 26, Obama dismissed the issue by declaring, “the campaign is over, John.”

STATEMENT: “We’ve got a philosophical difference, which we’ve debated repeatedly, and that is that Senator Clinton believes the only way to achieve universal health care is to force everybody to purchase it. And my belief is, the reason that people don’t have it is not because they don’t want it but because they can’t afford it.” Barack Obama, speaking at a Democratic presidential debate, February 21, 2008.

"I respect what the Clintons tried to do in 1993 in moving health reform forward, but they made one really big mistake, and that is, they took all their people and all their experts and put them into a room, and then they closed the door," Mr. Obama said in November 2008. "We will work on this process publicly, it will be on C-SPAN, it will be streaming over the net." Mr. Obama repeated this promise at least eight times during his presidential campaign. Contrary to his vow, government health care negotiations are so secret that most top Democrats can't even see what's going on - which brings up another broken promise: that legislation would be posted online for five days before the president signed it. Mr. Obama broke that promise because the more Americans know about his agenda, the more they oppose it. Transparency makes it difficult for Democrats to ram through their unpopular big-government programs. Washington times

"We are going to ban all earmarks - the process by which individual members insert pet projects without review," Mr. Obama promised Jan. 6, 2008. Similar promises were made during the presidential debates. Putting aside that the $787 billion stimulus package was one giant earmark, Mr. Obama has signed multiple bills stuffed with earmarks, most recently the defense bill that he signed last month. That single bill alone had 1,720 pet projects totaling $4.2 billion. Washington times

"I can make a firm pledge: No family making less than $250,000 will see any form of tax increase - not your income taxes, not your payroll taxes, not your capital-gains taxes, not any of your taxes. And my opponent can't make that pledge, and here is why: For the first time in American history, John McCain wants to tax your health care benefits," Mr. Obama said on Sept. 12, 2008. The $250,000 protection against tax increases was promised dozens of times during the campaign. Mr. Obama first broke this promise last January with an increase in cigarette taxes. Since then, he has compounded the damage. Last week, for example, the president announced an agreement to impose a 40 percent tax on higher-quality health insurance plans. Washington times

"There is no doubt that we've been living beyond our means and we're going to have to make some adjustments. Now, what I've done throughout this campaign is to propose a net spending cut," Mr. Obama promised during the third presidential debate on Oct. 15, 2008. He made the same promise about a "net spending cut" again during the second presidential debate. Despite these talking points, Mr. Obama plans to increase the debt by at least $9.1 trillion over the next decade. In that period of time, Mr. Obama's programs will increase federal spending by $400 billion to $500 billion per year over what his predecessor, President George W. Bush, planned. Far from keeping his promise, this is the largest peacetime increase ever in government spending. Washington times

I post this not to say that I ,personally, am upset that any of these promises were not kept, but to say that Obama runs his mouth sooooo much about things, and promises you the moon, but is really talking through his butt and can't carry through what he says. He just likes to say what your itching ears want to hear. He's a people pleaser with his words. Promise Broken rulings on the Obameter No. 24: End income tax for seniors making less than $50,000 "Will eliminate all income taxation of seniors making less than $50,000 per year. This will eliminate taxes for 7 million seniors -- saving them an average of $1,400 a year-- and will also mean that 27 million seniors will not need to file an income tax return at all." >>More No. 30: End no-bid contracts above $25,000 "Will ensure that federal contracts over $25,000 are competitively bid." >>More No. 71: Allow imported prescription drugs "Allow Americans to buy their medicines from other developed countries if the drugs are safe and prices are lower outside the U.S." >>More No. 86: Direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to conduct a comprehensive study of federal cancer initiatives "As president, Barack Obama will immediately direct his Secretary of Health and Human Services, in collaboration with agency officials, academic researchers, cancer survivors and advocates for people with cancer, and state public health officials, to comprehensively examine the various cancer-related efforts of federal agencies, and provide recommendations to eliminate barriers to effective coordination across federal agencies and between the federal government and other stakeholders." >>More No. 221: Double the Peace Corps "Barack Obama will double the Peace Corps to 16,000 by its 50th anniversary in 2011 and push Congress to fully fund this expansion, with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean." >>More No. 234: Allow five days of public comment before signing bills To reduce bills rushed through Congress and to the president before the public has the opportunity to review them, Obama "will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days." >>More No. 240: Tougher rules against revolving door for lobbyists and former officials "No political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointee will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration." >>More No. 249: Double funding for afterschool programs "Will double funding for the main federal support for afterschool programs, the 21st Century Learning Centers program, to serve one million more children." >>More No. 292: Urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws As president, "will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws." >>More No. 313: Allow bankruptcy judges to modify terms of a home mortgage Will repeal provisions of the Chapter 13 law that prohibit bankruptcy judges from modifying the original terms of home mortgages for ordinary families -- regardless of whether the loan was predatory or unfair or is otherwise unaffordable -- "so that ordinary families can also get relief that bankruptcy laws were intended to provide." >>More No. 339: Support human mission to moon by 2020 Will "endorse the goal of sending human missions to the Moon by 2020, as a precursor in an orderly progression to missions to more distant destinations, including Mars." >>More No. 379: Pay for the national service plan without increasing the deficit "Will maintain fiscal responsibility and prevent any increase in the deficit by offsetting cuts and revenue sources in other parts of the government (to pay for a national service plan that will cost about $3.5 billion per year when it is fully implemented). This plan will be paid for in part by cancelling tax provisions that would otherwise help multinational corporations pay less in U.S. taxes starting in 2008 by reallocating tax deductions for interest expenses between income earned in the U.S. and income earned abroad. The rest of the plan will be funded using a small portion of the savings associated with ending the war in Iraq." >>More No. 428: Give annual "State of the World" address "I'll give an annual 'State of the World' address to the American people in which I lay out our national security policy." >>More No. 431: Reduce earmarks to 1994 levels "Barack Obama is committed to returning earmarks to less than $7.8 billion a year, the level they were at before 1994." >>More No. 508: Allow penalty-free hardship withdrawals from retirement accounts in 2008 and 2009 "Obama and Biden are calling for legislation that would allow withdrawals of 15% up to $10,000 from retirement accounts without penalty (although subject to the normal taxes). This would apply to withdrawals in 2008 (including retroactively) and 2009." >>More No. 511: Recognize the Armenian genocide "Two years ago, I criticized the Secretary of State for the firing of U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, John Evans, after he properly used the term 'genocide' to describe Turkey's slaughter of thousands of Armenians starting in 1915. … as President I will recognize the Armenian Genocide." >>More No. 515: No family making less than $250,000 will see "any form of tax increase." "I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes." >>More No. 517: Negotiate health care reform in public sessions televised on C-SPAN To achieve health care reform, "I'm going to have all the negotiations around a big table. We'll have doctors and nurses and hospital administrators. Insurance companies, drug companies -- they'll get a seat at the table, they just won't be able to buy every chair. But what we will do is, we'll have the negotiations televised on C-SPAN, so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies. And so, that approach, I think is what is going to allow people to stay involved in this process." >>More No. 518: Create a public option health plan for a new National Health Insurance Exchange. "The exchange will require that all the plans offered are at least as generous as the new public plan and meet the same standards for quality and efficiency."

Obama's Gaffes, Lies, Hypocrisy, Broken Promises & Exaggerations! Thursday, May 13, 2010 Obama's pledges are worthless Obama “firm pledge” on taxes now a “preference”...another promise crushed by Obama: Read the following excerpt from the Daily Beast’s LLoyd Grove: Remember President Obama’s supposedly inviolable pledge—repeatedly uttered during the 2008 campaign and at countless town meetings since the inauguration—that he would never raise taxes on middle-class citizens who earn $250,000 a year or less? This morning at a Manhattan breakfast sponsored by Thomson Reuters, White House Budget Director Peter Orszag threw that pledge out the window. Instead, he described Obama’s “read my lips, no new taxes” pledge as a “stance” and a “preference” that is subject to study by the president’s newly formed bipartisan Commission on Fiscal Responsibility. “The president has been very clear about what he prefers,” Orszag said under questioning from Thomson Reuters’ Chrystia Freeland. “That was his stance during the campaign, and he still believes that’s the right course forward. But he has also been very clear that we shall let the commission go do its work.” Folks, this is not funny anymore, all of Obama's promises was a big fat Lie. And we are on track to add another one and a half million jobs to this total by the end of the year." THE FACTS: The success of the Obama-pushed economic stimulus that Congress approved early last year has been an ongoing point of contention. In December, the administration reported that recipients of direct assistance from the government created or saved about 650,000 jobs. The number was based on self-reporting by recipients and some of the calculations were shown to be in error. OBAMA: He called for action by the White House and Congress "to do our work openly, and to give our people the government they deserve." THE FACTS: Obama skipped past a broken promise from his campaign — to have the negotiations for health care legislation broadcast on C-SPAN "so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies." Bet you're sorry you voted for Obama now

ariscus, Obama has broken most all of his promises. You and I know that, but those who worship him will never admit to it because where would they go from there? He has the answer to the world's problems as far as they can see. What a shame.
  12. It was not my "wish" that their business would close down. I "asked" God to intervene and bring justice to me and help in some way and to show them thier wrong way of doing business with people by cheating them out of money. I'm not even saying that they went out of business because they cheated me. All I'm saying is that you will reap what you sow. Maybe they treated many of their customers in this horrible way. I don't know. Maybe God, after witnessing their deceit many times in the past, heard my prayer for his intervention in my being slighted $80. and he chose to allow them to go under. I don't know. He does say that vengence belongs to him. He honors his children who don't take matters into their own hands and instead asks him to take care of their problems in life. If others lost their jobs because the owner was crooked to his customers, how is that God's fault? You know what happens when you are unfair to your customers? They all leave and tell their friends about you. Eventually, you lose business and it doesn't end up good finacially for you. All I know for sure is that God's law of reaping ind sowing is valid in life. It is as sure as the law of gravity.

    Health Care

I am never against a hand up, and I am glad that the government is there to help those who need it. I was one of them at one time in my life. The problem is that it is TOO much now. The government has grown increasingly powerful and intrusive as well as financially indebted. We are talking about a debt of close to $170,000. per household. That is unsustainable! Cleo's often portrays me as one who doesn't want to help the poor or the elderly because I am against government handouts. This is not true. Some government help is fine. But, where we are at today with "so called" help is a farce. Obama himself admits his goals straight forward. He wants to redistribute the wealth around. Some who live in an apartment and rent and live paycheck to paycheck and are just getting by are not happy with that. I wouldn't be either. I lived that way once. We were at the bottom, but we (or anyone else) didn't have to stay there. We worked real hard, counted and saved every penny, sacrificed alot of 'wants' and even 'needs' to save for a multifamily house. I could never afford to pay a mortgage without rental income to help, so we sacrificed and lived with people over us, but, we still owned our own home, and we were proud of it. I saved for school and my husband worked long, hard hours and we eventually were able to buy a second multi family home right next door to ours, and now that's almost paid off as well. Our retirement should be okay due to the rental property and our 401K's and savings we pay into, even if SS is not there for us in 15 years. Some people start off sacrificing everything they have to start their businesses and then build up for themselves a great company and deserve to have their big expensive homes and be able to purchase things like HI and Life ins. and fancy cars or whatever they feel like buying. Obama feels that if you are rich, then you need to give some of that to those who are not. And, if you are poor, the government will make sure that you are cared for by coersion and thievery from those who are rich. This is sooooo wrong. Even if you feel that rich people should not be selfish or that rich people should 'share'. It's no ones place to tell anyone (rich or poor) what to do with their money that they worked hard to get. I am not rich by any means. I am comfortable and content, I guess. But I wasn't always. I know how it is to be both very poor and financially secure. I am not against paying taxes at all. I understand the need for them. Waterbury, CT is a big city in my state. That city is in so much debt. Their property taxes are already the highest in the state, but now they need to raise them because they have a budget crisis that they can't find the funds for. This will cost on average another $2000. a year for homeowners there. They can't find the funds? How about cutting some of the big spending and doing some state layoffs or getting rid of the humongus pensions that those who retired recieve? It's always bleed the citizens dry! Never cut the spending! Did you ever hear of a government program that ended? I haven't. Obama has no right to redistribute the funds. They're not his.
  14. I've never been bullied really, so I can't comment on that, but I do know that we all will reap what we sow. I can remember a time when I brought my car to a Chevy dealership in town. They were gonna change my brake pads. I had a warranty cause my car was brand new, but they said I couldn't use the warranty because the brakes were used excessively by me. In other words, they suggested that it was my fault the brakes went bad so quickly after buying the car and it wasn't a faulty product. I felt cheated because I never wore the brakes on any other car I ever owned so quickly and knew it was the brake pads that were faulty. Either way, it was under warranty and the Chevy company would have paid for them to change them anyway. I told them to forget about changing them and decided to have my husband do the job to save money. They said okay, but would not return my car to me until I paid them $80.00 , which was their charge to look at the brakes. They did nothing! We paid the $80. and afterwards I was upset that they ripped me off $80 bucks and did NO work on my car. I took the car to another Chevy place in another town and they changed the brake pads under the warranty, no problem. Well, I let God know how I was feeling about that Chevy place that ripped me off. I just prayed for justice. Well, in less than one month, they were out of business, just like that. They were in business here for as long as I've lived in my town. (28 years) You reap what you sow!
  15. We are all a product of our time and the circumstances prevalent at the time. If I had lived with the Europeans in America during the 19th century, would I have embraced what was going on then? If I had lived with the Germans in the 1930s and 40s, would I have embraced what was going on in Germany then? If I had lived in Scandinavia during medieval time witnessing the horrors of slavery and killings, would I have embraced what was going on then? (The Nordic countries practiced slavery - träldom - during the middle ages, a master could for any reason kill his slave. Abolished in 1335.) These are hard questions for anyone to honestly answer. It is easy to toss around opinions now, at the end of the 20th century being conveniently removed from circumstances and conditions in a distant and foreign time. I would like to think that I would have been against all that if I lived in that time period, but I guess I will never know. What I do know is that even though man sinned, God used the outcome to form a nation that was Christian and full of a majority of people who worship him and love him, even till this day.
  16. Condones? No. God hates all kinds of offenses against his creation, mankind. He abhors murder. What the Europeans did to the indians when they arrived here was not in God's plan for America, but it was what mankind did nonetheless. Man chose to fight with the indians that were present here instead of living with them and getting along. It wasn't right, but neither were many things that people have done in the past, like enslaving black people. Even today we go on sinning. BTW, What happened to the Native American's was not done "in the name of expanding our Christian nation". It was done in the name of sin. It was done, because that's what man does. We do wrong every day, all the time. Jesus would not have approved of any form of sin. Why do you think God had to send Jesus to take our punishment for us? Because we are not able to live our lives righteously. It's not possible. Christian's, God's family, are not sinless, just forgiven.

Bet you're sorry you voted for Obama now

    Secret admirer??? Very funny!
  19. Merely living on the land does not confirm ownership. Where do you get the idea that America belonged to the Indians? The white man's record is not clean, but the only land the indians owned is the land they cleared, lived on and cultivated. To suggest that they owned the whole country simply because they rode around it on horseback is pure poppycock. Most, if not all indian tribes did not believe in personal ownership of land. They did not consider a plot of ground theirs to be passed on to a son but ground that was owned by the tribe for the good of all. The same attitude was held toward food. If a brave took a bison or deer in a hunt, it did not belong to him but to the tribe. The shallow thinker says, "That's magnanimous and unselfish." but it is also socialism and could be one reason why the Indians were living substantially the same way when Columbus arrived as they had lived 500 years earlier. Also, just because man is born unto sin, doesn't make the truth of America starting as a Christian Nation any less true.

    He already did that.
  21. They are still there because We have to fight those who oppose our heritage every step of the way. If it were up to them, they wouldn't be. All things pertaining to God would be wiped away if they had their way.
  22. Not true. We don't want what we have out there taken away. In God we trust is on our money and should stay there. Noone should attempt to remove "the Creator" from our Constitution. No one should be offended by the monuments with scripture references on them all over Washington. I could go on and on, because the God of Christianity is everywhere in this country since it's beginning.
  23. Man, is that ever true! We cater to every faith as well, except the faith of our Father's. Nothing can be said against any faith except Christianity here. Any putdown of Christianity is acceptable, but dare to say anything about any other faith, and you're in deep water!
