  1. 1st, let me edit my comment...not necessarily '100% success rate' but no deaths with this practice. 1% have complications. I am not worried..I am scheduled for 4/9 (April). Am on the Optislim/fast today...not too bad......I think a presurgical diet is good preparation for post procedure guidelines + it shrinks the liver and stomach down, making it easier for the surgeon to navigate around for the procedure. Just my opinion. I am rather glad we (my partner and I) are doing a pre procedure diet. Feels like we are losing already!
  2. Hi all...new to the site as well......surgery scheduled for April 9th. I start the 2 weeks of Optifast Thursday 26th March. I've heard the 1st 2 days on it are a bit rough as in HUNGRY...but my partner is doing this with me (her surgery scheduled for the 23rd April) so she wants to semi start her VLCD (Optifast) the same day. That way we'll be supporting each other and I'll be coming on the site for some too! I am not nervous about the surgery; actually, I am looking forward to it. I am looking forward to a healthier lifestyle, decreasing health risks, more energy and being able to buy off the rack! I have some asthma and it is said the lapbanding/weight loss will help with that and the GERD. I am 47 y/o, and it was time to stop fiddling around with all the diets that don't have f/u. My surgeon is Dr. Blamey at the Avenue Ctr. for Bariatric Surgery, and they have a 100% success rate. I know it is VERY important to follow the guidelines and instructions in order for this to be effective, as with any intervention. The only negative stories I've heard are from people who haven't followed the guidelines, f/u and utilized the support of friends and family. Good luck on the 3rd! Let us all know how you go!
