  1. Hey there !! Any new results or developments? Just dropping a line to stay in touch :-) I'm stalled at 220 grrrrrrrrr It's so frustrating, especially when i have another 100 or so to go yet. My goal is 10/14/10 - exactly 2 years from being banded. What's new with you?

    Calorie Counters ??

    Does anyone else just count calories ? I mean, obviously Fat and Carbs count as well as size and amount, but do you concentrate on Calories? When I first got banded, i was under the impression i could eat whatever I wanted - as long as it worked for me, and in MUCH smaller quantites. However, i find myself stalling out alot. So, i am now trying to just count calories, and waiting to see if this approach works at all or not. If you DO count calories, how do you do yours? Online or om paper ? Anyone have any thoughts ???? Thanks! :smile2:

    I agree with the saturated fat ... i try to really watch that as well. I also tend to be very good about journaling, and tracking while I'm at work, but at home? Weekends? No way. And I can't figure out why that is!! Goofy ... I wear a pedometer all the time - it tells me how far I've "walked", how many steps I've taken, calories burned, the time and my weight is recorded on it so it knows how to calculate everything. I really like it. HOWEVER ! I never remember to check and see just how many cal I burned compared to how many i consumed! WHACK !!! <slap upside the head> LOL
  6. Good Morning! So i bought a tub ( the only size avail ) of Fage 0% ( the only kind they had ) and i really like the taste and texture of it! I was surprised! I used it on my potato last night because i was out of FF Sour Cream. I could eat the 2% by itself, but the 0% is too tangy alone. What do you mix in with yours? How do you use it? I need IDEAS ! please :thumbup:

    "Small" bites?!!!

    Yup, Pencil Eraser size :-) thats why its important to chew well, and only take small pieces. No more eating chicken or ribs off the bone! lol I've been banded for over a year and i STILL sometimes take bites that are too big... It's a constant learning / doing process... Best of luck! :-)

    Great Food Finds

    Ok, so I actually have a food that I can share on here! Ususally I'm the last one with a new item, or new idea to share, but I found a wonderful item at the store this weekend. i'm sure you all have heard of it, but here goes ... EarthGrains brand 100% natural Thin Buns! I got the Multi-Grain ones. ( earthgrains.com will give you the other flavors, and more nutrition info ) Serv Size - 1 bun Calories - 100 Fat - 1.5g Carb - 21g Pro - 5g They're very Skinny buns. I used one for Sloppy Joes on Fri night. I have a hard time with most bread, but these worked beautifully! And this morning, I toasted one and put Honey on it. NUMMY !!!!! Anyway, I wanted to tell you about these - I can finally eat some bread :-) ENJOY !!

    Great Food Finds

    These are some really great ideas! Thank you so much for sharing :-) My dr is stictly on a Calorie base, not a Carb base. I'm supposed to eat between 900 - 1200 cal a day - of course getting in 40-60 gr Protein a day in there also. As far as Carbs, it's whatever we can handle, without going over cals and getting pro. Make sense? Thanks again for the great ideas .. I LOVE this site! And we're all SOOO worth it !!!

    What the heck is a kcal?

    what we normally refer to as a "calorie" is technically a Kilocalorie or Kcal. Stretching way back to my Chem 101 days, 1 Kcal = 1000 calories (little "c") So, if we say we burned 65 Calories in the normal vernacular, we really mean we burned 65 Kcal or 65,000 calories (little c). Incidentally, 1 pound = 3500 Kcal or 3,500,000 calories. Hope this helps

    Fage 0% - what do you mix in?

    ALSO !! Any suggestions for thinning it out a bit? I put a 1/4 cup into a container to eat once i got to work, and added 1T Almond and Vanilla granola , and some almond extract. NUMMY !! But it was thicker than paste ! Was it because i waited an hour to eat it and the granola absorped ANY liquid that may have been there? I loved the taste but not the thickness. Oh sure, as a Mayo substitute or on a baked potato ? Perfect! But just to eat plain ? Any thoughts? Ideas? Thanks!!

    Who else is on 800 calories

    I'm curious! May I ask you all what you eat on 800 cal a day? Could you give me an example of a menu ? My nutritionist says 1000 - 1200, but some days i know i consume twice that, and other days no where near that. all depends on my band... But I'd like to find a happy medium - 800 - 900 Any help and suggestions would be great! :-)

    Losing weight thanks to more protien!

    I'm new to the No Carb way as well ..... I also can't do just liquids. in fact, i can't do ANY liquids!! I drink tons of water , and love my morning coffee, but shakes? Smoothies? Protein Drinks? No Thank You !! I could never drink a meal... it doesn't work for me at all. I gag , to be blunt. I never set out to be a No carber, but since most bread, pasta and rice get caught or stuck, i really dont have much choice. I do, however, get carbs in other forms, so technically i'm an Occasional Carber :-) dairy, sugar, etc... What are some of your favorite foods that you fill up on? I LOVE fruit, but cant eat much of it any more :-( I'm also limited on the Veg that i can digest, which really stinks, as i actually DREAM about veggies! lol As far as meat, I like Rare steak, Fried / Broasted Chicken ( Dark Meat ), Chicken Strips, and ALL seafood. I can eat Lamb Chops on occasion, but not crazy about pork, except for Ham and Bacon ( go figure ) Thought ? Suggestions? :-D

    I had thought about Nutri system at one time also ... if for nothing else, to get used to actually SEEING the portion sizes!! I measure some stuff, others i just guess. But i LOVE the idea of having everything already portioned out. I've just never tasted any of it. I admit, i'm a bit leary of it! lol Even Marie Osmond can't sell me that it TASTES good! hehehehehehe Which entrees and meals and snacks do you like ?
