cindyn replied to Born To Loose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too have to medicate before dental work and I got a call for my pre-op tests and get my EKG on Monday. I would rather know before being put under!! The anesthesia person takes good precautions. -

Anyone with Sept 11 as their banding date?
cindyn replied to cindyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just watched the video and it definately shows why we need to lose at least ten pounds!!! My hsband and I have booked a cruise to the western CArribeen on April 22. -
Thanks for the input. I bought some of the unjury protein powder, unflavored and vanilla. I tried the vanilla this week and it is pretty good and the unflavored will be helpful to up the protein. Popsicles are a good idea. I also have apple juice on mylist.

My surgery is Sept 11. I am trying to get all stocked up. Would low sodium V8 with unflavored unjury be a good liquid?

What reason did you give your job for being out of work?
cindyn replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had plans on telling only my daugher and husband. I have felt terribible guilt on not telling my sister who I share it all with. I told her I had suregery coming up and I opted for the ovary thing. Well today I fessed up and I feel like a weight has been lifted. I cannot lie to her of all people. She is very supportive and I actually sent her the info. She said not one has to know and she will not tell people which she will not. We are very close. As far a work people I am not telling anyone. -
What reason did you give your job for being out of work?

I am scheduled Sept 11. I have told my boss I will need to be out 2 weeks and it is just surgery I "need" to have done and this is true. That is it. No ones business. I told my husband and daughter and a woman I work with who is having it done too. I do plan on telling my sister. We talk every day and will think it weird of me being out of work two weeks. I hope I will be ready for work at end of second one. I have a desk at work but there is a bit of walking aroudn as well. what I said to my boss was I hope to be back on the MOnday following my second week but I will have stiches with this procedure so it depends how I feel. He said no problem. Just let me know. He is a great boss. -
What is a norm dinner you order after being banded if eating out? (getting my ducks in a row..) Banded 9/11/06 (not really excited about date!)
-
My insurance mailed me a copy of insurance approval and when I came in house after work there was a message to call Dr. It was too late to call so I will call them today. My date is soon!!
-
Now that I am getting closer to a date, I was wondering how long it was for people to resume sleeping on their sides!! I sleep mostly on my right side which will be port side. (sounds like a boat, ha ha). I anticipate sleeping in my recliner for a few nights and our couch is comfy for back sleeping. Inquiring minds like mind wonder.. Thanks so much.
-
Thanks for all the suggestions. I plan on getting a girdle band thing like you suggest.
-
Met with Surgeon today and she said the approval will be here in a week. Said my insurance will definately pay!! She said wait for my call most likely in August!!
-
Thanks so much, I am waiting my date and was looking for such a list!!
-
Now I need to actually stock up on things to have first few weeks. Any suggestions?
-
I am curious how many are at my height. I need to lose 90 to 100 pounds. I am 5' 11". I am still waiting for my date and official approval. THis is the best website I have found!! I was on last night for an hour or so just looking at the inspiring before and after shots. If I work the band, what do you you all think will be a good amount to count on losing in a year from my surgery? (dreaming a bit here!)
-
5' 11" My goal is 190 - 200 (180 would be a dream come true!!)
-
I have appt with Surgeon on July 18 and from there wait for my date. What type of program did any of you do to lose some before surgery weight? I am thinking low carb.
-
I got an appt in mail today and my consult to set surgery date is July 17. Letter said that it can take 6 weeks to petition the insurance company. Looks like end of August first of Sept. How long did it take rest of you to get approved by insurance. So far they have paid for all my appts. I have anthem.

My husband and daughter (24) know. My daughter plans on helping around house while hubby is working during day for few days. I too will share with a fat stuggling person because usually the advise for a person who has no weight issues is "why don't you just cut your calories??". LIke I have not tried that...anyway, I feel it is none of anyones business. Just sit back and watch fat Cindy change!!!

I meet with appt #2 with the dietician for a quiz of sorts and to go over the food after surgery etc. I have to turn in a "diet history" to tell her what plans I have tried. After this I can be contacted to have my consult with the surgeon to be scheduled!! I am shooting for an end of August date. I need to lose 10 pounds before surgery. Exciting exciting!!!

I am a straw user big time. Will I not be able to drink with straws? I think it will help with sipping...

I am not sure what programs count so much as whether or not you were successful. I have tried em all!! Plus I take meds for Blood pressure, have swelling in legs, aches and pains of a typical overweight person. My thoughts are yes there are risks but staying this way is a risk as well.
-
Ilive in Maine and BC/BS will only cover it if it is deemed medically needed and you have other medical issues (high blood pressure, edema etc etc) and if you have documented proof that you have years of other diet trials that have failed. My Primary physician has tons of documentation. BC/BS does take a bit of proof but keep trying.

My husband and daughter, one woman I work with who is having it done at same time I am and medical staff who need to know. There is so much judgement on WLS I do not want to explain and have people watching every move I make!
