Wow, I think it's starting to sink in
nomorediets commented on zeama's blog entry in My Lapband journey begins after child bearing is over
You sound just like me. I was wearing a size 22-24 and until I looked at pictures of myself, did it actually sink in that I had let myself get absorbed into food so badly. Many, many bad things happened in the last 20 years and I ran to food to make me feel better. Those days are over. I can now wear a l6 and that is loose!!! Just think, this is for LIFE. No more dietcenters, weight watchers, nutrisystem, etc. etc. I have tried them all. I had high cholesteral, blood pressure and was 100 pounds over weight. Have lost 60 pounds and feel like a new person. Just turned 50. It is my turn to live. Took care of my mother with Altzheimers for 3 years. Father died in 05, husband died in 99, granddaughter died in 07, niece died in 03. Food was my friend. Not anymore. I'm buying a Harley next year and my new husband is four years younger than me and races cars. We are going to LIVE and have some fun. Good luck to you. You have made the right decision in having this surgery, I would do it again in a heart beat. -
First fill down 2day
nomorediets replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go Stacy! Don't be afraid to get another fill if you don't feel any different in a week or so. Stay on top of the fills. You will get to a point where you know you are in the right "green" spot. They are not alot of fun to get, but they work. I am up to 7 l/2 ccs and finally at a point where I know I'm full and when to quit eating. Don't feel hungry all of the time. My problem was "grazing". I babysit for my grandbaby and while she is sleeping, I get bored and want to snack. That is a big NO NO. Good luck girl, don't be afraid of those fills. -
When you get the urge to eat, drink a glass of the protein mix. It will fill that void.

Go get another fill. When you eat, don't eat the "slushy stuff" that does through fast. Eat SLOW. Don't drink while you eat. I had the same problem, but remember, when you get on up to 7-7 1/2 cc's, you will NOT be able to eat large amounts. IT WILL COME UP, whether you like it or not. Sounds gross, but true. Go get another fill and talk to your Dr. CHEW, CHEW, CHEW. I would have never made it without getting the fills about every 3-4 weeks. 1/2 cc at a time. I have lost 60 pounds, surgery was in March 08. It is a sloooww process, you are not going to lose 20 pounds in two weeks. Go through your paperwork that the dr. gave you post-surgery every once in a while and refresh your memory on the procedure. You can do it, I know it's hard, but this band is only a tool, it has to be adjusted to fit you and you have to work with it. I wish you good luck. P.S. I'm not a know-it-all, just have been exactly where you are. You will get past it.

Hi there. Don't be nervous. It's really an easy procedure. Think of it as the first day of the rest of your life, but remember...this is only a tool. You have to follow the directions given to you and really concentrate on YOURSELF. This is for you and your health.

That is hilarious! I too have had this enlighting experience and of all things, ON MY LAWMOWER!! Mowed my grass the other day, and thought something felt funny. Looked down and there was seat showing on both sides of my thighs. Its just the little things isn't it?

Okay, here goes. I'm a newbie to this forum. Just found it through my bariatric clinic newsletter. I turned 50 this summer and had my surgery in March 08. Have lost 56 pounds. Seems like a slow process, but trying to look at the big picture for the rest of my life. Feel soooo much better, but emotionally, kinda like a roller coaster effect on family and myself. Our lives revolved around our gatherings, which meant a big meal, with me being the host. Food had always been the main reason for us all getting together, especially holidays. Not to say that we don't love each other, and want to see each other, which we do almost on a daily basis. But...my mom and dads home was always the gathering place and they are now both gone. So this ritual has fallen into my hands. Any who...My weight had become out of control and a friend of mine had the surgery and convinced me to do the same. Would do it again in a heart beat. Had a little mishap with one of my fills, got tooooo much. Couldn't eat, much vomiting, dehydration, etc....Had to have a cc taken out. All is well now, but seems like the loosing gets slower and slower. After reading some of the comments here, don't feel alone. Thank you.
