I had my surgery 4 years ago in October and so far I have lost 112 lbs, in April I had my 4th fill so I now have 7cc in my band. However since the fill I have had broken nights sleep waking coughing and being sick, also my eating has been sporadic, being able to manage a small fishcake, glass of wine, humus and dips, but then some days I can manage food other days don't even want to risk a drink. I find I can't drink before being awake at least 2 hours otherwise I am sick. My band isn't made easy by the fact I had mouth cancer 2 years ago and have a plate in my mouth filling a large hole so excess saliva can sometimes be an issue. I have today been up since 6.10am (UK time) and its now 13.25 and all I have had was half a cup of coffee which came back up. Its getting me down a bit now so would appricate your thoughts????

Hey guys I wonder if anyone can help. I had my first fill in over a year last week and now I'm having real problems at night time, coughing and waking with a mouth full of saliva then being sick, well gagging mainly! I had 5.5ml in my band and the doctor drained it to see how much was there as I couldn't remember after a year, he then topped it up to 6.5ml I'm now to scared to eat or drink anything as its causing me great discomfort during the day, I was ok thursday, friday, saturday. sunday but it started on Monday night. Any ideas??? I don't want to have it taken out if possible as had started to gain a couple of pounds and not quite where I need to be yet. Thanks

Well I'm home!!!! What a fantastic trip well worth every penny, the hospital is so clean you could eat you "last" dinner off it, the staff are more than helpful and Dr Chris and Fredrick are smashing.:crying: I am now looking forward to my new life with the band, the family are glad I'm home safetly and my husband was a fantastic support. I met some lovely people when I was there and will be staying intouch with them all. All the advice from the site has been wonderful and I would say to anyone to get as much from all the folk on here, it really helped me. -

How have people felt a couple of days later? I am planning on doing some walking on Saturday and Sunday to get myself up and around, at the end of the day I'm not ill, it has been my choice to have the op so I should get on with it. -

Hi everyone Only 5 days to go til my op!!!! Not doing very well on pre op, I am trying to get in all my favourite meals before its liquids and mush for a while. I have got my list of everything I need, but have a question about Vitamins, how can I take them if you can't swallow them whole or chew them?? I know it sounds daft but really want to make sure I'm not missing out on anything. My ten year old daughter asked my husband if I was going to die, trying so hard to explain everything to her but it really made me think for a while if I was doing the right thing, but then the likelyhood of me dying from obesity would be greater than the op itself! -

Hi world, I am trying my hand at this blog business, hoping to track my success with my band.:frown: A bit about me though first, I am a 34 year old mum of 2 - a girl and a boy, i've been with my partner Guy for ten years and slowly over time I have piled on more weight than I care to mention (well about 4 stone:scared2:). Guy and I are getting married next year in New York and I'm so excited :tt1: but one thing which has to change is my hidious body. I'm not saying I want to look like Kate Moss (truth is I have eaten her so she is on the inside) I just want to feel sexy again and not by my clothes from "Fat Lass Shops", my term so please don't take offence. At size 22 I am allowed too!!!!!:tt2: So today I have booked up for my Gastric band, been to see a clinic here in the UK but have decided to go to Belgium as money is dictating. I am heading off on Thursday 10th October so I hope you will come with me on my journey between now and then. I am hoping to BLOG everyday and tell you all a bit more about me, why I have got to this point and what makes me think I can succeed. :cursing: See you all tomorrow........

I have been trying to sort out which of my friends is coming with me, its been a bit of a nightmare as such short notice  so worried I might have to go on my own. Might be a last resort to have a word with my Dad to see if he will come with me, but not even told him I'm having op yet so not sure how it will go down. I'm am only child and only have my Dad left as lost my mum when I was 15, we are close now but not always been, thats another blog though. I've been going through some of the posts on the site and been making notes in my little blue book I got today, more cluded up now on what I might need to take with me for before and after. So feeling slightly better today, but still bricking in................ See you all tomorrow xx

Hi All Am wondering if anyone can tell me what sort of time you can go home a couple of days after the op, I know I have my op on a Friday and stay in until Saturday, then they recommend I stay until Sunday but didn't know if you have to go into the hospital on the Sunday or if I can go home after checking out of hotel (11am). Also as I am bring a friend with me can they stay with you most of the time? I know obviously not when in theatre or recovery but after that? Any help is most appricated. -
