I think given the choice we'd all opt for a uk banding..however, due to obstacles as discussed, most of us have no option but to either abandon the idea or look abroad for assistance..the latter, thankfully, is affordable, and is most cases reliable..

I think its other peoples input that caused me concern.. like any surgery considered 'cosmetic'.. people have an opinion, most often not very constructive in nature...it reminds me of all the hype that surrounded breast implantations when they became popular..

I asked Frederik about insurance cover for this type of thing.. he said, I didnt need any special holiday insurance.. on further research, it would appear that there is no cover that can be purchased for cosmetic travel insurance..your ordinary travel insurance doesnt cover it either.. maybe someone else has found a policy but I have been unsuccessful.. vanessa

money transferred successfully..... by world pay.... hi am having difficulty transferring the cash..My bank HSBC dont seem to have the account number.. tried 3 times now.. two were digital errors by belgium, but 3rd is correct but still wont go through.. will try main bank tomorrow.. if not.. will have to travel with sack load of cash!!.. however, has been done before so not sure what the problem is... if you do try yourself.. ask to transfer via world pay.. cost £9 compared to the £25 bank had originally quoted!!!... naughty of them dont you think??

I agree.... I'd like to lose about 2lb per week.. maybe 3 to start... actually, anything would make me happy.. I was initially considering a gastric balloon, but after great consideration , I decided the band was a better option..boought a book via amazon.. laparoscopic adjustable gastric band... seems quite comprehensive.. will let u know if its a good read..

hi, I'm very much the same as yourself..5'2..and 14.1.2 st and climbing..I'm having my band on the 14/10.. my family think I'm mad, but also understand that this is my decision based on how I see my weight spiralling out of control... so, if you think its right for you , then you have to go with your instincts.. hope this helps..vanessa

hi.. am considerng a band. had looked at beautiful being in prague but noticed that people thik highly of this dr in belgium. can u tell me whether everything was satisfactory.. aftercare etc.. travel arrangements and any tips.. also. did u have to pay cash.. this sounds rather odd to me..
