I transferred the cash prior to travelling... ask to pay via worldpay.. it costs £9 compared to the other rate of £25.. quite a saving and one which my bank teller didnt offer ..it was quite by chance I found out about it.. once I got all the details correct from Frederick, the transfer of monies was very smooth... I didnt tell me gp until after I'd had the op.. was so scared but she was very nice about it.. xray post op is a good idea.. I would have liked one myself.. the peace of mind is worth the extra charge.e

hi.. yes I had lots of reservations to the point of looking for the nearest door out of the building!!.. but for a lady who'd lost 10st giving advice etc I would have gone.. as for the op..be prepared for a lot of discomfort, m ainly wind and pain at the port site.. I personally, suffered badly with nausea and pain.. my advice is to stay an extra day i.e 4 nights. just to make sure you're ok to travel.. DR Chris doesnt put in a fill at time of surgery. due to swelling from the op..makes sense..cos I personally would have been so much iller. I and the other ladies all had a 9cc band.. He recommends a fill 4 to 6 weeks post op.. so, mine is this thursday.. so far Ive lost 10lbs, but my appetite is improving so a filll is getting very urgent!.. Am I happy with the results?.. too early to say.. my scars are healing well.. port site is still sore..but I'm happy with my progress.. feel free to ask anymore questions

hi I had my band 4 weeks ago.. on the 4000 euro offer..it includes 6 transfers, hotel for 3 nights including your partner at the campanile.. surgery and all meds and dressings including one night hospital stay.. I thought it was good value.. some say its cheaper to book everything yourself, but not having to worry about anything was worth the price.. Frederick isnt very prompt at confirming details.. a conversation we did have!!..but be assured all will be in order..

C I emailed Dr Chris regarding a double fill which he only does in Brussels.. he didnt advise it for a first fill.. so, unless you've specifically asked for a double fill, I would assume its a single one.. this is what I'm having.. however, you could email him to confirm which it is...If it was a doublefill he puts some in the evening you arrive, and then the second fill the next day.. hope this helps

I agree with Chrissy... you've done really well... I lost 2lb 2oz in my first week... i thought it would be more, but in reality thats fine by me..little and regular is the way to go... it healthier and not such a shock to the skin!!!.. slower loss.... less sag...

well done you..I'm amazed i havent lost more cos i get terrible wind if eat too m uch... which is in fact a very small portion... yesterday i moved on to more solid food..mash veg etc... can eat less than a child sized portion...have booked a fill for 13/11 in manchester.. not sure i#ll need one given the volume I can eat now!!.. trapped wind is a huge problem!! I'm due to weigh again tomorrow... doing it on a weekly basis..don't want to get hung up on my potential weight loss!!

I do agree with the article chrissy has cited... it would be interesting to know how many failed bands have been fitted by uk surgeons..seems to me the people in the uk business of this type of private surgery feel their bank balance is under threat . What better way to fill the coffers than to scare people!!

hi. DR chris told us that the band is very unlikely to slip due to better placement. Nobody can say slippage will never happen..Is it only pain on swallowing you experience or nausea as well?.. has this been happening since the band placement?.. Try going back to liquids for a day or so..give your stomach a rest.. Have your gp look at your stomach wounds.. might simply be bruising. Its early days and things are still settling down. I was banded 8 days ago.. still have discomfort at wound sites.. but problems with pain on swallowing seem to have settled..

taxi fares seem to vary between 5 and 10 euros... myabe ask price before journey.. weighed myself yesterday..lost 2lb.4oz... how have you done chrissy??. emailed dr chris re double banding.. he said it may or maynot be done under xray .. said sometimes its not advisable.. have decided to stick with fill in uk for now too..

here here.... email them to make sure all is in order...at the airport look out for ECF card.. they wont necessarily have your name on the card. Frederick met me in the hotel late at night.. he'l tell you what time the taxi will pick you up..0645 for me...on discharge, go to reception , ECF use renault taxi only.. so dont get into any other or you'll be charged. he visited me at the hotel again on morning i was flying home.. taxis were promp. Travel light.. HELLO FREDERICK!!

hi After all we've been through we deserve a shopping trip. I have to confess to adding yoghurts and farleys rusks after 3 days. was feeling quite hungry..however, waves of nausea means I havent tolerated much at all... think my calorie count is very low.. will lose weight for that reason alone.. tried porridege this morning...very milky of course.. was good but again could only eat a very small portion.. given no restriction at the moment..I'm wondering how much I will be able to eat with a fill... my guess, a tiny morsel!!!.. My banding has leaked out at work.. apparently its the topic of conversation!!!...not what I wanted but there you go..!!

I'm sure you'll be fine..but I'm very glad i took my husband with me.. for instance.. you dont feel so alone .. you know you'll have a visitor.. if something was to go wrong.. you have him to help sort things out... I felt awful post op... my husbands support wa s invaluable.. my advice re taking hubby.. think again!!!!

hi. took a wander around to see if I could someone who might be you.think you might have gone to surgery before I managed to get out of bed!! unlike yourself, I am making a very slow recovery.. still experiencing waves of nauseous... and abdo. pain.. I dont know how you managed sight seeing aswell... I barely managed to get home without having to lie down in the airport !!! Generally my advice to anyone travelling, is to go home a couple of days after discharge... you never know how you'll feel... and travelling if feeling really awful is no joke..
