    February 2024 Surgery Buddies?

I eat the turkey pepperoni as a snack while at work. Never thought to microwave them into crispy chips. Also, speaking of the Cedars brand. Have you seen the Dark Chocolate Hummus dip they have? I slice some banana's or strawberries and use it as a chocolate dip. I also sprinkle some monk fruit sweetener on it.

    Help !

I would definitely go to a Bariatric doctor to get any confirmation. My surgeon gave me a run down on issues where a regular doctor doesn't know the things a bariatric doctor does. Maybe you have a twisted bowel and by knowing you've had bariatric surgery they are assuming rather than confirming. I know someone that had a twisted bowel and it gave them a lot of problems. One of them was diarrhea. This doesn't mean that is what you have. But simply a suggestion from someone that isn't a doctor. See a Bariatric doctor ASAP.

I'll have to give this a try as well. When I have a sweet potato I usually get some Greek yogurt add some pepper and ranch seasoning. Never thought about blending cottage cheese.

    Intake Tracking

Baritastic App is very good. If you see a dietician they can access it and work with you. Get back on the horse, get your fluids in. I'm 3 months post op RNY. The Dietician has me at 100 Grams of protein and 59 grams of carbs. I'm sure you being a couple years post op would require different numbers. But, it's a good starting point until you can get in to see a doctor or dietician. Never stop moving.

Thank you! The exhaustion isn't fun. I power through it anyway. Hopefully it starts getting better soon. Because I feel much better other than that. I hope all is well with you.

I heard the samething about hair loss. I've not experienced any yet. However, it does seem to grow slower.

@BlueParis As I mentioned before my bariatric docotor and dietician both said exhaustion is a thing up to 4 or 5 months before your body starts getting back to normal. Low Iron and other problems could contribute. From my blood test results that's not the case. Exhaustion is part of the process. The dietician wanted me to stay close to 100 grams of protein a day. My average is around 135 grams. I log everything through the baritastic app that she can access. Seems weird to me that I should stay close to 100, but they've done this many times before. So I'll follow the guidelines to see what happens. @NickelChip i weighed myself the night before my DR. Appointment. I was 241 lbs. The next day on the doctors scale i was 245 lbs. I think my scale is 1 or 2 lbs off. Either way, I gained overnight and that is frustrating. But, the part I took away is all the inches i had lost. The Doctor and nurse both have had bariatric surgery. They kept reassuring that the process is working, but it can be slow.

Safe travels. Hope you see those numbers when you get back. I had my 3 month post op appointment with the dietician and bariatric doctor. They took my measurements and compared to the first visit. Ive lost 4 inches in my neck 10 inches in my waist. Officially lost 41 lbs since surgery. My issue has been exhaustion. I was told that is part of bariatric surgery process. That it happens and should start getting better in the next month or so. Had a lot of blood tests as well. The results have been very good. B-12 is off the chart high. So I will be taking only one multivitamin and one B-complex a day instead of two. The Doctor was very impressed with how much visceral fat I have lost. They have a machine that measures body fat and muscle. Visceral fat went from 40+ when I started back in October. Down to 18 now. The goal is to have that number at 12. She explained it usually takes a full year to get there. Being 6 points away 3 months post op is very good. All the blood tests haven't been finished yet, but so far so good. I was hoping there would be something to help with the exhaustion, apparently that happens matter what you do.

I've had cellulitis infections twice in both legs since 2016. The last one I had in 2019 got bad enough that It went into sepsis. I had to get a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC Line) put into my arm and gave myself antibiotics for 15 days. That was after spending 4 days in the hospital getting a couple bags of Antibiotics. I hope you're able to get healed fast.

I've been impatient because I lost 79 lbs. leading up to my surgery day. About 39 lbs. From surgery to today. In nearly the same time frame. I was expecting more weight loss after surgery. It's moving in a positive direction, as long as it keeps doing that surely good things to come. 😃

You look Great! A few weeks from 90 days out and your halfway there. That's a great accomplishment. Congrats! I think I figured out my stall phases. I'll stall for 2 or 3 weeks, then lose a few pounds. Stall again... rinse and repeat. That seems to be how my body is reacting. The Doctor in the online support group I attend, said our body believes it may be heading to starvation. Because of the mal-absorption of having Gastric bypass. So it has to adjust, I think these stalls are the adjustments. At least that seems to be the phases my body is going through. Again you look great!

Take pictures of yourself, even if you're not comfortable sharing them. You can go back and see the progress yourself. My brother took a picture of me just before I went back to prep for surgery. The difference in almost 3 months is great to look at and know there's progress even if it doesn't feel like it is. You talked about visual of what your body looks like. I can tell you, that's happening to me, maybe not so much of the boob thing. But my inner thigh and belly is all over the place. As not so attractive as that looks. The thing that keeps it all positive is when it the scale doesn't move. My clothes seem to fit better. I'm in 35" waist jeans for the first time in 24 years. Looks for the small wins.

So here's a couple pictures from 2019 and one silly recent one. Seeing these old pictures definitely shows how much has changed.

It does sound amazing, I may try to make one this weekend. I use PBfit chocolate every time I eat greek yogurt. Surprised I haven't burned out on it yet.

Sorry, I realized that probably didn't come across as well meaning as I intended. Now I don't have a big craving for sugar. If I do I just add monk fruit sweetener to Greek yogurt. I had a keto sugar free cheesecake recipe that used monk fruit sweetener. Also used almond flour for the crust. I'm not the best baker, but It was pretty good. I thought about making one and putting PBfit chocolate in it to make a PB chocolate cheesecake. 😃

You're eating 100 Grams of protein or more and actively walking 4/5 times a week. Seems like you've got a good routine down. I would just keep doing what you're doing and follow your doctors advice.

Thank you! I thought I had already responded to your post. Apparently I didn't hit submit reply. As I've mentioned in other post's. My weight has been stalled. However I weighed today and I'm down 4 lbs. I'm at 245 lbs. I'm not sure if the scale is playing with me or not. So I'm going to wait a few days before testing it out again. My biggest progress that I see is in my clothes. I'm in pant sizes that I haven't been in since 2002. The other big plus I see with you and everyone else. We've just started this journey. In the next 6 months all of us will look dramatically different. I intend to post more pictures along the way. I hope everyone else does as well. Your progress pics look great. The progress is real and will only get better. I wish you and everyone else the best with progress to your goal. 😃

    February 2024 Surgery Buddies?

Thank you! I was the same about taking pictures, since I had gained a lot of weight over the years. I didn't like my picture being taken. I deleted a lot of them a few months ago. If I run across some pictures from 2016 when I was at my highest weight, I'll post. Those pics are very few, I was 454 lbs. and I didn't want any taken. I thought I would feel different by posting my pictures. I have to admit, It has made me feel better showing them. I'll post more pictures as I progress. From what everyone has posted, it doesn't seem like anyone is going backwards with the progress with weight loss. If anything, like myself, the progress seems slow. But, it's still progressing in the positive.

Thank you for the kind words! I'm a little jealous that you get to travel to so many great places. Sure it's for work, but just to see it sounds amazing. I've never travelled outside of the states yet. Something I need to checkoff. My Dad was stationed in Germany when he was in the Military and had some great stories going on leave to Barcelona. You have done a great job walking. Keep it up.

I'm in the same waist size jeans that I was in 2004. My belly will be the last to go since that's primarily where a lot of my weight was. Side pucker was about 3 weeks ago. The stalls just seem to be there as a test.
