Hi bytheseaside, I didnt have any trouble at all taking that amount of money in, I just took in the biggest notes i could lol so didnt look like a lot in the end. If you are asking about trains running in Brussells at that time in the morning then yes they do:thumbup: -

Hi everyone, im back on British soil. I was banded on Weds and am feeling great. The hospital is so clean you can slurpe your soup off the floor lol. I have never seen so many cleaners, two at a time sometimes, not only cleaning the floor but under the beds and it didnt smell of disinfectant at all. The nurses were fantastic. I saw Dr Chris on the tuesday night, he is very efficent and goes through the whole procedure with you step by step and will answer any questions you have, he does talk a bit quick lol so make sure you catch everything he says. I was out of the hospital just after 1 oclock on the Thursday. I only had a bit of gas pain which was in my shoulders but I walked to the nearby town when I got back and its true what they say about walking the gas out lol then on Friday I took the train into Brussels and did a bit of sight seeing. For all of you that are about to go on this adventure, dont worry everything will be ok, your fears are only natural, I had many times when I asked myself if I was doing the right thing, but so far so good. In the hospital I met a women who was having a tummy tuck after losing over 10 stone in 18 months, she was looking fantastic and an inspiration, and now I know that I made the right choice even though its only been a few days after the op. -

You are right, it is a postcode lottery, and yes you would think the money would be there for preventative surgery but unless you fit the required recommondations, have co-mobilities, you dont stand a cats hells chance of getting it. I of course would have much prefered to have surgery here in the UK, after all we are the best in the world, but this is the only way I can have affordable surgery with a well respected surg of my choice:smile2: -

Wow you are one of the lucky ones then to get it done on the NHS because here in London its a lot longer than a 3 months waiting list, and I wouldnt of been over weight enough even though im obese lol. I did look into having it done private here but it was very expensive, and I know that there is no price on life, but needs must. In Brussels they speak English so no barrier there, and its only a couple of hours away. The Dr. has a very good rep so not at all worried about it -

Steve thanks for sending us that. You have done so well, congrates on the incredible weight loss. You must be feeling so much better having shifted all that weight and you look great. I noticed you had it done in the UK, would you of ever considered having it done elsewhere? -

Aawwww poor you Vanessa, sounds like you are going throu a bit of a tough time. Im sure they wont leave you at the airport chewing on your knuckles lol, I will be arriving on Tuesday so you will be done as im arriving lol. Well good luck to us both eh. Yes it did make me sit and think for a while, but any operation puts you at risk, and I am going for it because the only other alternative is to wait on for a couple of years putting on weight just so that I can become more obese, give the NHS maybe more problems to sort out if i develope diabetes or am unable to walk due to joint problems. I think having this op has more pro's than con's and im looking forward to getting it over and done with. -

Ooooo not much longer for you either. Im not doing to bad on the pre-op diet, just doing slimfast shakes morning and lunch and a big healthy meal in the evening, but I have slipped a few times with the odd bag of crisps, but have managed to stay away from the chocs and sweets lol:cursing: Is your friend being banded as well or just going for support? Im going on my own and feeling a bit lonely already lol:unsure: but im sure I wll ok, im just going to take a few books to read for the day after and hopefully go sight seeing Friday if I feel well enough. So here's good luck to both of us. I will let you know how I get on:scared2: -

Lol yes im getting very nervous and my buttock cheeks are firmly pressed together, but not because of last nights programme, I have been nervous since I made the first contact lol:ohmy:. To be honest it could of been any Dr. patient, slipage happens, its one of the downsides of the procedure, but it doesnt mean that the Dr. was at fault, slipage can happen because of many different reasons, she may of had a blockage, lifted something to heavy, been vomiting. I think her point was that the Dr. was not available to see her when she got into trouble and she had left it until she couldnt swallow her own spit and she must of been really scared. We all run the same risk having it done in Brussels, but if we follow the rules, look out for the symtoms we should be ok. I understand that Dr Chris and Fred are both available on the end of a telephone and email should something be worrying us, and of course there is always our own GP's. For me personally I am no more nervous having seen the news last night because I cant find anything anywhere that says Dr.Chris has been anything but professional, I have seen or heard no complaints about him or his team. :wink2: -

I dont know of any insurances, I have just taken out the normal holiday one, but you could get the EHIC which replaces the old E111, which would cover you should you need NHS treatment there. You can apply for it on line which will take 7 days, post office which i think is 2 weeks and you can also phone for an application which i think will take about 10 days. Hope this helps:smile2: -

Hi vanessa, not long now eh? How's the pre-op diet going? I want this to be over and done with now. If you are concerned about not hearing from Fredrick, give him a call or email him, im sure things are going to be fine and you are not going to be abandoned at the airport lol. Did anyone see the 10 Oclock news last night regarding Dr Chris and WLS. There was a woman on there saying that she had had trouble with her band due to slipage and because of Dr Chris not being in this country at the time she had to have emergency surgery here on the NHS. The news articule also said that some of the WLS abroad were not following the guide lines set by the BMC and were still operating on people with a lower bmi than recommended:w00t:. Dr Chris refused to give the BBC an interview. Just interested in what others think about this. Im still going for the band regardless because he has a good reputation and everyone here on this forum has only good things to say about him and his team. -

ooooooooo poor you Vanessa, just what you need right now, ear infections, hope you feel better soon:ohmy: Good on ya for getting extra, bet you felt cheated, esp as it was your last pud for a while lol, when you go there again you will be saying ooooooo thats far to much for my little tummy lol, can i have a childs portion please :crying: I havent gone for the package so not waiting for confirmation, im making my own arrangements, I wasnt aware about them at the time of booking although i did get an email saying that the consultation had been made for 8 oclock on the night before the op with Dr Chris and he then confirmed it to Bridget and thats that lol, im sure everything will be ok though they seem pretty reliable and know what they are doing - I hope:scared2: -

Hey Naomi, dont worry hun, your body is going through all sorts of changes at the moment and you will lose weight. It makes sense that if you are only having 400 cals at the most you will lose the 1bs. This is quite a common problem according to the other sites i have been reading, so you are not alone and you need to stay positive and know that it will eventually kick in and start working for you. Just losing the 9lbs is a very good start so dont beat yourself up about it.:crying: -

Yes im getting scared to but in an exciting way if that makes sense, im waking up during the middle of the night thinking about it, I spend all day thinking about it, but I think its quite natural to be aprehensive about the whole thing, its a big deal, but having this forum has helped a lot thanks to all the advise from the gang. We will be fine im sure and will no doubt have our ups and downs, but I cant think of any reason not to have it now lol, there are more positive posts than negative so it must be ok:smile2: Im into day 2 of the preop diet and everything is ok at the moment. Im having slimfast for breakfast and lunch with a snack bar mid morning and then in the evening Im having fish or chicken with loads of veggies so far so good, mind you I think what I have eaten over the last couple of weeks will keep me going for weeks lol:teeth_smile: Did you manage to transfer the cash? I am going to email him tomorrow to ask if I can, I didnt go for the deal so dont know if I will be able to, but I can ask -
