1 hour ago, im2bz said:I just found this website while surfing the internet to see if I was on target for where I should be. I had my surgery on 12/18. As of yesterday, I have lost 60 pounds, which is also halfway to my goal weight. I have no idea how much I should lose by this time. The strange thing is that nobody seems to notice! I have yet to receive a comment about my weight loss and I am literally around about 100 or so of the same people every day. I found recovery from the surgery very easy. I used none of the pain medications or digestion medicines I was prescribed. I have had no reflux or nausea. My biggest issue is struggling to get in enough fluids and nutrients each day. I am usually full by the time I finish my Protein, leaving no room for the veggies. Before this I ate few meat products. Now I feel like a carnivore! When will this change? Despite this I am barely meeting the Protein goals. An odd thing I did not anticipate is that the health problems that should be getting better have all become considerably worse (sleep apnea, joint pain, allergies). I know this will change at some point, but it is frustrating in the meantime. The other odd thing I have noticed is that the fat is coming off in a completely different pattern than how it came on. At what point will the stubborn belly fat go away? Overall, I am super happy that I did this. I hope to get to my goal.
Yeah. I have some that haven’t noticed but you know what, I didn’t do this for them. At my weight (315) I still look fat to people. I however I’m down from 412 (43 since surgery and the rest preop). What they don’t see is I have to wear smaller clothes, can fit back into my bra, and I can move and sleep better.
I had my surgery about 10 days after you. I’m down 43 pounds over all. Sadly I am struggling to keep my losing on track. I tend to stall for a week or two and then drop like 5-7 pounds 🤷♀️🤷♀️.
60 pounds sounds like you’re right on track. the important thing is how you feel now. As far as how the weight comes off it varies person by person. It depends on if you work out or walk a lot. So however you “burn fat” will affect where you lose faster.

Myself: before liquids my highest weight was 217
Before surgery 207
Now 187 🎉
So far it has been ok I guess. The surgery was “text book” according to the Dr. I had no pain after and I started back to the gym for treadmill and low weight machines on week 3.
I followed the plan. The last two weeks since I started soft foods has been hard. I’m 5 weeks out today. I am down 28 pounds since surgery.

I have hit a stall. No loss in a week. I have had a couple of “slips” but nothing I can’t come back from. I unfortunately am not as restricted as I thought I would be. I was able to eat a whole filet of fish sandwich with no problem. Why I ate it is because I am still an emotional eater unfortunately. The good thing is I could only eat the one and now the huge chunk of food I use to.
hopefully as the weather gets better I can be out more but I need to work on my “out of the house” food plans. I got my little cooler I just have to work on the best stuff to put in it. I can’t wait to go back to fishing !!here is my picture about one year a part. A total of 75 pounds difference

I am so ready for warmer weather and I am in GA so it's warmer compared to some but just give me the spring/ summer. I want to be outside walking not on my treadmill lol
Hey there yeah it has been so cold here in Georgia.
I can’t wait for the warmer weather for sure!!

Hopefully in the update, they’ll fix the background and text color so that you can see what you’re typing when you’re posting on the original post. I mean you can see obviously when you’re replying to somebody but when you go to make an original post you can’t see anything because it’s a black background with black text or dark blue text or something. That would be a nice change for the update.

Just now, GreenTealael said:Yeah. It just says Fluid. And I usually have a cup of Decaf tea in the morning that is equivalent to three cups. I never put that in my tracker. I am just figuring what I count in my tracker which is more 8 oz cu I use to drink. From my large water bottle (64oz).
I’m sure it will be fine. It will all work out. I just have to watch fats that I am taking in. Even if it is “healthy “ fats

Thank you for your reply.
Yeah, I focus on the most I’ll eat is maybe 4 ounces I measure it out as like a half a cup. It just seems like after I eat that half a cup couple hours later i’m “hungry” again. I think a lot of that is that I just want to eat like meat or something like that. I was a big meat person before surgery. I mean the last meal I ate before surgery was almost a half a pound of primary rib. I think that’s what I’m missing. The most is the meat. I’ve been adding canned chicken in the blender with my broccoli and cheese then have a half a cup of it. I made salmon salad , instead of tuna salad, and it came out to be a half a cup. I’m using my half cup measuring cup for everything. It just feels weird. I do notice that if I eat something too heavy or maybe a little bit too much I hiccup. I also use my digital scale for stuff that I have to weigh that’s not puréed like cheese, or the tuna, salmon stuff like that.GreenTealael and summerseeker reacted to this -
I’m about 2 1/2 almost 3 weeks out of surgery. My doctor said to go ahead and move onto the purée stage for about a week. My concern is that I have no problem eating. I can eat 4 ounces without any hesitation I can drink an 8 ounce glass of Water without any hesitation. it almost feels like I didn’t have surgery. Now if I drink too fast, or I tend to eat something, maybe a little bit more than I should’ve maybe like 5 ounces I will get sick. Or I will just feel sick. I guess that’s how I remember that I had surgery and I’m not supposed to eat so much. It just seems so weird outside of surgery so soon that I feel like mentally I could sit and eat a burger and fries. I know physically I can’t eat a burger and fries but it’s getting my mind to correlate with my body. I know there’s a lot of mental work that has to be done after surgery and I thought I got myself prepared for that before surgery. so I guess I just need to work harder on the mindset of eating 4 ounces every couple hours to keep myself from being hungry. Because I do feel hungry at times. I do however recognize when I’m just bored hungry. So I’m hoping I can start moving out of that board hungry state And into not being hungry even when I’m bored.
I know this week I noticed that I didn’t lose as much as I had been losing and I think a lot of that has to do with moving onto the purée stage and actually eating food. Also, I noticed that I didn’t get all my water in. The most I’ve been able to remember to drink has been like 48 ounces instead of 64. So I have to be better focused on getting my water in .GreenTealael reacted to this -
I’m three weeks out of surgery. I’m feeling kind of the same way technically. For my tracker I weigh twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays. I noticed this week from Wednesday to Sunday I didn’t have the weight loss that I was kind of expecting. I’ve also started the purée stage where I’m actually eating stuff now. One of the Support groups that I’m in there is a woman there and she said that this is normal and I talked to my doctor and he said it was normal so I guess it’s normal. I know I’ve heard of the stalls that happen within the first few months. you’ll have stalls as your body adjusts to the new eating habits. Just make sure that you’re eating your Protein, getting your Water, taking your Vitamins, and eating foods that you should be eating, such as puréed vegetables, or soft foods, or whatever that are healthy. Your body will adjust as time goes on and will all feel these kind of oh my God moments. But we got this we’ll get through this. I’m not gonna start worrying about the stalls until I’m six months out and not losing any weight by then, your body should be on the role of losing. I hope that helps.

Honestly this is the main reason I haven’t told my ex. Him and I interact daily and I just never said anything to him. He will bring up everything negative and it isn’t his business what I do since we aren’t together anymore. But he isn’t even supportive of me even losing weight.
I told him I was doing the slimfast diet thing and he has been trying to sabotage me ever since.
You don’t have to justify a damn thing.NeonRaven8919 reacted to this -
My pre-op was 2weeks liquid as well.

Hey there! I had my surgery on the 27th too. I have my 2week post op on the 11th(tomorrow) and hopefully move on to puréed stage. Tonight was the first night I feel kinda off. I didn’t get all my fluids today. I threw up and not sure if it was blood or the red koolaid mix. Also had bloody bowel movement but that is a common issue due to hemorrhoids.
so I am going to wait until tomorrow. I have a fear of the staple line leaking.
what was the issue that put you back in the hospital? Did they have to do anymore surgery? -
I have been in other support groups and people say that a slow or even a stall is normal in the first couple months because your body is adjusting. When you start eating healthy foods and more intake your body will start burning again. The weight will start again. The slower weight loss is actually better for your recover is my understanding.
I am 10 days out and down 15 pounds. I’m not in any hurry and as long as I’m still losing I will just follow my plan and keep going.
keep us posted!

You know I was coming on to say the same thing. You are further out than me I’m on day 10 but I was hit with the same thing yesterday. I just all of a sudden didn’t want to get out of be in the morning but made myself. Ran a couple of errands and was ok until about 6pm then bamm I was exhausted and couldn’t keep my eyes open. I ended up going to bed. Hence the reason I’m up at 1:30 in the morning reading and typing this lol 😂
from others I have talked to in another support group, they are recently had surgery, they are feeling the same way. Some say it goes away after a couple of months. I sure home so.

25 minutes ago, Onwensdaywewearblk said:Girl you and me both my hunger isn’t really there more than my thoughts of wanting to eat food to feel normal again. Its been emotional for me and bc of my sampling food it makes me feel more down. It’s frustrating not being able to drink Water or pretty much anything my water/ Fluid intake is so low. Im soooo over these Protein Shakes i bought and the thought of them now has me wanting to gag lol. I’m not reallt taking in any Protein shakes and just doing Soups but can only do 2/3 ounces at a time. I can do yogurt i had half a cup for lunch and a few tablespoons of Tomato Soup for dinner. Feel free to message me anytime my surgery date was 12/18 im happy i got the surgery but definitely want to feel normal again. I’m being patient but if i could have at least be able to drink water it would be easier.
i had a hiatal hernia and its been so hard to drink is anyone else feeling that feeling? Then when i do drink its like im swallowing air 😫😩😫
I have been “doctoring” up my shakes. Take a vanilla shake and add some cinnamon , nutmeg, vanilla and 1/4c SF Applesauce. Mix it all together in the blender taste just like apple pie.
also I get a flavor Keifer and mix a 1/2c with a vanilla shake to make it taste different (my flavor was strawberry)I also bought some powdered Peanut Butter and add 1 tablespoons to a chocolate Protein Shake. Taste like peanut butter cup.
I have other recipes if you want some more ideas -
27 minutes ago, Onwensdaywewearblk said:Yea I am at week two going on week three i misunderstood my diet and was eating soft foods a week early lol but I do find it hard to swallow the most annoying part is not being able to drink Water comfortably really anything ive tried Hot Drinks and for some reason its better for me to take warm drinks. I got sugar free hot cocoa bc its been cold so far so good also caffeine free spearmint tea has been great. I’m down 16 lbs so far im hoping for a good 10/12 lbs moving forward per month but we shall see! I’m going to start my walking routine tomorrow and im excited for that. Happy loosing 🥰
Yeah that happens. I did that with my pre op diet. I am starting my walking on Monday morning. I am 6 days out so I don’t want to do too much but I want to get started. I can’t wait for week three 😂

I have a question for y’all! I am about 3 1/2 weeks post VSG and my hunger has returned with a vengeance. I’m not sure why. I’m trying to remind myself of everything I’ve learned and remind myself of things I am permitted to have. But I’ve been sampling small bites of various things to see what my tummy likes and what it doesn’t like anymore. I don’t want to fall back into old patterns and eat just because I like the taste or because I CAN tolerate it, you know?Has anyone experienced their hunger returning? Still struggling to get enough Water intake so maybe that has something to do with it? I’m averaging 32oz Water a day. I wish I could drink normally because I used to easily get 64 Oz/day, but sipping has shown to be a challenge for me lol. Thanks ahead of time friends!
I am 6 days out and I was so hungry today! All I can offer is stay focused on getting enough Protein. The protein will keep you fuller longer and keep you on track. Also, stay away from carbs. Sadly you’re the only one that can make the changes.
what are the foods you’re eating? Maybe you have to find alternatives in a healthier option.
-
I use bariatrix and I’m tracking everything. I am at about 500-600. I have Protein Shakes, Jello, and popsicles. I am making my shakes with 1% milk and some I am mixing in powdered PB or nonfat Greek yogurt or Keifer
I am 6 days out of surgery
-
I’m 6 days out and still on liquids for another week at least. I haven’t had any issue with taste though. I wonder what has caused it. Does your doctor have any options?
I would maybe try getting some unflavored Protein Powder and mix with something you can drink.
-
I am 6 days out and so far it seems to be going well. Hardly any pain. Staying in my schedule for Protein Shakes and fluids. Finding a sleep position is the only issue I have been having really. It is hard too because I use a cpap machine.
I have had time of being hungry. But they passed.

Check in from 12/27 surgery date:
So here I am settled into home and getting on my Fluid schedule (shakes, water, tea). I set alarm for every hour to remind myself to drink what when.
Pain is a bit more today. I think I might have been doing too much up and down out of my chair yesterday. Also maybe the way I slept. The recliner wasn’t cutting it.
I found last night I had a sweet tooth urge. Thankfully it was time for me to take my Calcium supplement so I had one of those.
I also can’t get out of my head yet the “want” to just go in the kitchen and make something to eat. Thankfully I live alone and I purged my kitchen so there isn’t anything to make anyway.
I have plenty of broth on hand. Getting all my fluids.
Thankfully I have not had nausea or anything. The doctor gave me meds for all the nausea and pain but I have not had to use any of it. Even when I was overnight I only used pain meds once the night of surgery to help with my back pain.
I did have a AH HA moment. The fact I just had surgery and they removed 80% of my stomach. It is surreal at times still.
Is it wrong that I can’t wait to cook chicken wings in the air fryer? That is one food I can’t wait to be able to eat again.
I weighed myself this morning and I am down 8.4 pounds -
-
I hope I’m not doomed!!!
I ate more than I should have Christmas Day. Got on the scale and it says 2.6 pounds up.
What have I done!! I have been working so hard the last two weeks to get it right!!
Surgery is tomorrow and I don’t want to hear it isn’t happening anymore.
I mostly over ate on meat. However I did have the carbs (in moderation)
I didn’t set myself up better for success and now I am mad at myself. -

Hey! I’m the 27th! There are a lot of us around the same time. Getting off the new year to a bang ‼️. Hope your surgery goes well.

I’m going through the same slow down. I don’t know. I think part of mine is I have not been to the gym in about a month. I am struggling with mentally not with it.
as far as your dr I’m sorry they are not better informing you of what to do. I know I am not in contact with my dr office except for follow up appointments but they gave me a whole packet of information to refer to for each faze. I am almost three months out now (it feels surreal I’m that far out already) but this is what my dr gave me for 6weeks and beyond. So it is a guide to what you should be eating. Each meal should only be about 1 cup. I do 1.5 if I am having salad but that is filling.
