I just got the call today that my surgery is scheduled for February 7th! I'm both excited and nervous, I knew this day would come, but I'm still in shock 🤣

February surgery buddies 🥰

How are all of my fellow February peeps doing?? Hitting that 4-month post op was very exciting! I'll be honest, I struggle almost daily with my protein intake. I try, but usually only hit 40grams. I'm looking into what else I can add to make it closer to 70grams. Water intake is usually on point. The hair loss though...that **** is rough! Hopefully were on the tail end of that now. I can definitely tell a difference in my energy levels, I can't wait to get up and get moving most days now. I look healthier, cloths fit better, I just have a new outlook on life I feel like -

Cheers 🍻! That first couple of days home is rough. I was cleared to go back to work after 2 weeks, but I'm on a 20lb weight restriction for 4 weeks. Just make sure your getting up and moving and keep sipping that water! -

I had to do 2 weeks of low calorie intake and now I'm on 2 days of liquid. Are you nervous at all?? I'm kinda freaking out haha but not enough to back out. I'm just a really anxious person.. -

I had to do 2 weeks of a very low calorie high protein diet. Its actually going ok, but I do miss eating cereal more than anything else haha. 2 days before my surgery I start liquid only, then the day before I have to stop the protein drinks at 6PM, and NPO after midnight. I have to be at the hospital at 6:30AM for a surgery time of 8:30AM!!! Im getting more excited than nervous for now. Im sure that will change once the date gets even closer. -

I have my 2 week pro-op appointment this Tuesday! I'm really hoping I don't have to do a full 2 weeks of liquid diet before surgery 🤣 -
My surgery is scheduled for February 7th. I go in on January 23rd for my pre-op appointment to meet with the surgery team and the dietitian once more before then. Outward I'm fine, inside though, I'm freaking out haha. With this being the only major surgery I have had, I'm a literal ball of anxiety. I do plan on addressing this at my pre-op appointment, but I just needed to get it out there. I can't see myself canceling the surgery or anything, I just need to be dramatic for a moment 🤣

Thank you so much!! Being on here definitely helps is so nice to be able to talk to people who know what your experiencing 🥰

I don't think it's anything specific...I'm worried about waking up during the procedure (which I know is super unlikely), and I'm definitely worried about the pain/discomfort after (which I know they will help me manage).

How exciting!! My surgeon had a cancelation for the end of January but I opted for February so my work had more of a heads up and time to find coverage for me. -
A couple weeks ago I had my dietitian appointment and psych evaluation. At my psych evaluation she told me she was going to send a letter to my insurance asking them to waive the rest of my drug tests because I'm not a heavy user so me staying clean won't be an issue. I have my EGD scheduled on the 5th of December, and I go for my surgical clearance on the 14th! I'm getting nervous lol I haven't had a big surgery before 😅

Hello, it's me again with another sugar/sweets question... I'm slowly cutting out the sugar in my diet. I do not plan on substituting artificial sweetener. I am still getting a lot of sugar cravings during this process. I know it's my body detoxing from the sugar and everything. What are some of the "sweet" treats you guys eat when cutting back? I like sugar free jello, and I can't really tell its sugar free, but what else is out there?

I am very much in the pre-operation stages, but I'm trying to make healthier choices now, that way when the time comes it won't be so hard. My question is this: when stopping sugar, which is better- cold turkey, or slowly cutting back? Thanks for any advice.

Nasty smelling vitamins
Jessica Marie replied to Jessica Marie's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm not taking a bariatric multivitamin. Just a regular one. -
My doctor is having me starting some daily vitamins. I have to take a multivitamin with iron, zinc, and B-1. My B-1 that I have to take smells HORRIBLE! And they don't taste that good either. Does anyone have any recommendations on a less smelling B-1 vitamin, or a trick to get mine to not smell so bad?

michigan Hospital stay in Grand Rapids, MI
Jessica Marie posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am currently in the Pre Op phase of this journey. I will be having my surgery in Grand Rapids, MI when the time comes. I was hoping to get some insight from people that have had either the sleeve or bypass at this location. How was your stay? How long did you stay after surgery? Were the staff nice?
