thank you so much for all that great info!!! I live in houston tx. are you are a fellow texan? at this time i do not know if my family will have cigna... we have phcs but, my dh is interviewing with a co that has cigna (i made him check that info at his first interview:-)... the company (CB&I) seems interested so i am on a "fishing" expedition as far as cigna is concerned. the co he works for now definately covers it but, if he switches co i want to know what will happened.... sorry for all this "useless chatter" i work in a hospital and was called out for an immergency last night and could not sleep.

Lap band while having crohn's dz

Thank you all so much for your responses! I am more of a reader then a responder but I think this forum is #1 as far as support and kindness is concerned:clap2:. Having lapband as an exclusion is SO stupid especially when (at least for me) the less food you put into your system the less work load is put on the intestince the easier it is for us "crohnies:) " to live with this dz. I have a friend who has severe crohn's and when it gets so bad he can't tolorate it, he admits himself into a hospital and lives on IV drips for a few weeks to help his gutt rest.... I would think the Lapband would achieve the same results without the needles and allowed you to look pritty good in the bathingsuit in the process;)

  11. Hey dear Texans I am new to this forum but it seems great!! I live in NW Houston Area and I have narowed my MD search down to Spivak and Naaman any one have any sugestions on either one??? How helpfull is their offices in getting ins co. to pay?? I am on the 6mo dr diet before I can even apply for Lap Band surgery! I will be eligable to apply only in June:mad: Until then the offices do not even want to talk to me. My bmi is 38 right now (and I have sleep apnea) I don't even know if my ins will cover it or not (have PHCS/Benefit Planers) Has any one had a simular situation and had surgery covered? Please help I don't know if I should continue to jump thru the proverbial hoops or just go get a loan and pay for it myself:phanvan
  12. Hello All I have PHCS Benefit planners has anyone have any experience with them?? Thanks for any responces
  13. Does anyone have PHCS/Benefit Planers and had them pay?? I am considering Spivak as well but the impression i got is that you can not see the dr until you have done all the necessary pre surgery stuff is it true???

  16. Dear All Even though I just joined this forum I have been reading it for a while. This place is wonderfull for help and support. Right now I am waiting on the "mandetory 6mo doctor supervised diet:heh: " I have a few questions to ask maybee someone had simular situations? I am around 38 BMI and the diet seem to only increase my weight:confused: I have Crohn's Dz (have been symptom free for about 3 years) I have never "suffered" with it like others and never had a malabsorption issue either. I have some health problems related to obessity (not diebeties or High bp) My family has PHCS (Benefit Planers) and I have narrowed my doctor choices to Dr Naaman or Dr Spivak in Houston TX. My question is: Has anyone have this insurance provider and <40BMI and had it pay for the lapband?? Thanks for any advice you all are wonderfull:clap2:
