Charlie- I understand what you’re going through. Beef (after trial and error) is still a big trigger for me too. Two or three bites and I’m visiting the porcelain goddess for tribute. My doctor said to try it again in a month. -

VGS 10/16 and I’ve lost about 32lbs since the surgery. I’ve definitely hit that weird zone with no weight loss that everyone has been posting about. I’ve been bouncing around +\- 3lbs for the last four weeks. It’s hard to not be discouraged and cheat on the diet (I’m an emotional eater). So I’m looking at other wins- smaller clothes, walking the dog, going up stairs, better movement in general. I have to keep telling myself- It doesn’t have to all be based on the number on the scale. -

I was getting ready to back into the office for the first time since my surgery (3wks post op and a week and a half of Covid). I’ve been living in pjs and lounge pants (comfy bra when needed-right ladies?). I was shocked at how loose my jeans were. But I visited my storage room and pulled out my “skinny clothes” -let’s be honest- we all have a full range of sizes squirreled away. I really want to save money, especially now that the medical bills are finally making themselves known- so I don’t want to buy anything new. But I’m looking at these clothes and thinking this isn’t me… this isn’t me… but I’m also not sure who the real me is, yet. I don’t feel like me anymore… I know there’s more change to come, so having an identity crisis this soon is crazy right? -

I had my VGS on 10/16- and was losing pretty regularly. I have noticed a stall just recently and I even went up a little. I was just released to regular food though so I know I’ve eaten more carbs lately. I’ve got to get back to my protein shakes but the taste of them makes my tummy upset. the worst part is trying to get my water in- it’s been next to impossible. I’m just not thirsty or tempted to drink. Sugar substitutes trigger dumping now so additives like crystal light are out. I’ve done lemon and orange zest and it works for a day or two and then it’s back to the drawing board. Coconut water (urg empty calories) and Gatorade are now my go to- so frustrated. -

@Walter- it can be difficult not to panic since it’s an intense surgery. Every time I found myself worried I took a moment to check in with myself- evaluated the situation- wrote it down- set a timer for 20 to 60m- did anything to distract myself (forced myself to think of something else)- when the timer ran out, I reevaluated. If I was still stressed, then I reached out to my surgical center for advice. -

VGS Surgery on 10/16- finally starting soft food stage today!!! For anyone who has never had cinnamon in their cottage cheese- it’s a game changer! Soo yummy I added some peaches and it was like eating dessert for breakfast. -

VGS Surgery on 10/16- I get to start purée on Tuesday and I’ve been counting down. It’s hard to not just skip to soft stage but I know I’ve got to do it right. still having a really difficult time with my fluids. I picked up a few different sports drinks to try and tempt myself but other than some killer heartburn it was no good. The only one I loved and finished was some coconut water. Which isn’t the best option. Suggestions? I tried crystal light/Gatorade/protein water- my go to was diet A&W rootbeer packets but it’s just too sweet and tummy upset from sugar replacements. -

today is day 4 post op vgs and I’m not sure if the pain I’m having is hunger pangs or pain pain- it’s all feeling the same. I didn’t feel hungry at all during the preop diet. I’ve got to try and get more of my protein shakes down - I finally showered yesterday but was so tired afterwards that I went back to bed and slept 5 more hours. Needless to say I did not hit my protein or water goals 🤣. -
I’m two days post op… I’m struggling with getting my required water and protein. I’ve noticed more of an after taste with my pea protein powder that I’m having a hard time ignoring. I thought id be thrilled to get my soy/almond milk mixed protein shakes back (I wasn’t allowed dairy in preop diet) but I’m finding dairy difficult- lots of coughing (ouchy). I’m gonna go back to water tomorrow. Anyone else?

Week 1 of pre op is done… just protein shakes (mixed with water) and veggies. Surgery date is 10/16- VGS. Any suggestions for vegan/plant based shakes? I’ve been using Planta and it’s pretty tasty but at four shakes a day it’s getting old and I need to change it up. I can get my required water intake in easily- love love love those sugar free A&W rootbeer packets.
