  1. So I made my goal weight of 165 about 15 months after being banded in Jan of 09. Since then I have slowly put on 15 lbs... No biggie right? Except that I FEEL FAT!!! It's just killing me!!! I just got a fill thinking that living tight again for a while will help me lose the damn 15 lbs that are a more like an elephant on my back than a monkey. Not happening. I lost 4 lbs right off the bat with the fill, but thats it.. How is it that I managed to lost 90 lbs and I cant seem to take of a meesly 15??

The nicer weather is coming, so I plan to get out and exercise more - I've slacked off on that quite a bit in the last 4 months or so.

I think this is more about the fact that Im worried that I really think I"m FAT. 175 on a large framed woman of 5ft 6in is NOT FAT. But I look in the mirror and I'm devistated. I dont want my BF to touch me and I get really pissed off when people say I look great.

How do I get this body image out of my damn head!

  2. Yes - is a mental issue more than a band issue. Thank you for making me be honest! I just looked up my dr. office schedule and there is a Post Op Only support group next Thursday... I'll be there for sure!

I agree with Reverie. Acid reflux tells me a fill might be a bad idea.

I would add that you could also look for a support group-- either your surgeon or another local surgeon's group and go to a meeting. If you can't find one of those, maybe an OA meeting. To me (and with only a little info), this sounds like a mental issue and not a band issue, if you know what I mean.

The good news is, you caught it at 20 lbs, not 30 or 100. Hit the restart button, do the liquid diet, find a support group, and it will be off in no time.

  3. I'm 2 years post-op. Was doing GREAT (key word here is WAS). Not sure what happened in the last 4 months or so, but I've managed to gain 20lbs :( and I have reflux all the time. I feel like CRAP! I know a majority of it is self inflicted. I'm not necessarily following a good diet - eating too much slider foods - not going to the gym. It's winter in NY and I'm in total couch potato mode!

With the reflux I've been suffering from, I"m just not sure that I should go get a fill and hope that living tight (and possibly not keeping down all those slider foods I've been indulging on) will "fix" my problem. Sure it will probably get some of these 20lbs off, but I just don't think that is the right "fix" for what's going on with me.

Not sure though how else to get myself back to my goal weight and back to better habits.

Very open to any thoughts you guys might have on how to get back on the "band" wagon!

    Thanks - and Happy Friday!

  4. I'm 7 mos out of surgery. Doing quite well. Lost about 65lbs (I need to update my ticker). My band seems to be very "testy". Some days I can pretty much eat what I want, but in small quantities. Some days I cant eat a THING! It's frustrating to say the least. Today I had a yogurt for Breakfast - no problem. Then I had some grapes - really good big fat juicy green ones - PROBLEM!

Could it have been the skin??

I also had some very well cooked string Beans -

Everything came up - all afternoon -

This goes down as a BAD food DAY

    :)

  5. Hi Hotties -

I got my third fill this past Tuesday. My usual PA is on her honeymoon so they told me that my surgeon would do the fill himself. At first I was nervous that he wouldnt give my much, but man, I was WRONG! He gave me the most aggressive fill. I had only lost 3lbs since my one before that and he was like "Oh this is not acceptable, we need to get the weight moving off you!". I was able to drink the Water upon leaving the office, and I can drink now, but I can't eat much at all. I think I just wasn't ready for this much restriction - it's good though. Just like someone else here said - This is what I WANTED! 4oz of soft foods and I'm DONE. I went to the supermarket yesterday for some sliced turkey and the lady behind the counter gave me a piece to try. So I ate it - slowly as I was shopping - and .... YEP puked it right up in the parking lot. It's a little frustrating because I WANT to eat, but I'm 6lbs to ONEDERLAND and very excited!

Thanks for the updates gang - glad we are all doing so well!

  7. I got my first fill this past Friday and I've already lost 4lbs! It's back to the beginning - and I'm sooo happy! Small meals (well shakes for now till tomorrow) are filling me nicely again. It's nice to have the restriction and not all the post-op pain.

My experience was great - I was worried for nothing. They don't use any local numbing agent at my office, and I barely felt the needle go in. The PA Jackie is fantastic at doing fills and I'll make sure to get her every time.

Apparently I had 2cc's in my band at surgery, so she gave me 2 more. I feel like it's going to be perfect!

My closet is getting dangerously empty though - I've already lost 2 pant sizes and getting dressed now is a nightmare - but in the more fun direction!

Can't wait for my Spring shopping spree!

  8. I had actually gained 2lbs the week before my first fill which was just this past Friday. I was eating anything, and pretty much everything. BAD CHOICES! But I think I was just happy to be able to eat. Now, hopefully I'm over that as I've already lost 4lbs since then and I'm so happy to be back to 4oz of Protein satisfying me. For those of you waiting for your fill, be patient! I'm telling you that the fills really do work!

I had 2cc's already in what the PA thinks is a 10cc band (the surgical report is not in my file yet), and she put in 2 more. Yesterday I thought it was maybe a little too much, but today I'm having a bit of an easier time getting my fluids in so I'm going to hang in there with this 4cc's for a while. I'd love to drop another 20lbs QUICK-then maybe see how it goes from there. I don't have another appointment scheduled until mid May, but she said for me to come in if I feel like I'm eating too much, or too little.... I figure as long as I can get in my shakes and Water, I dont care how much I can eat.

  9. Hi Y'all!

Im soooo glad I read this post! I'm eating WAY more food than I'd like to be able to eat. I'm TRYING to make the best choices, but honestly sometimes it's just hard. Like chicken is good right? But KFC chicken that I had for dinner tonight - probably NOT so good...

Im getting my first fill on Friday and hope that I can stay on track through this week. Being at work helps and I use the gym there every day so that should help too.

Thanks everyone for sharing your stories - I love this site!

  10. Hi Friends -

Im just past 2 weeks post-op and know how important the Vitamins are. However, I CANT stomach the chewable Calcium pills that I got from the dr. office. Im looking for a liquid Calcium brand that is comparable to the nasty chalky stuff I have.

If anyone has any suggestion of a brand of liquid calcium that they are using and can tolerate I would appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks so much!

  11. Thanks Bklyn!

We actually have some members now. Peanut was able to find the link and join the group.

Follow-up appt. tomorrow! Wish me luck - I'm thinking that if he offers me a fill I might take a little. Although Im really sick of liquids, I would like to feel a little bit of something like restriction.

    Thanks everyone -

    Best to all!

  12. Hi Fellow Bandsters -

Im having strong urges to test my band. I'm 11 days post-op, I'm starving on my liquid diet, and I really am having feelings like there is nothing even there! I feel like I need to eat something and get FULL - just to prove to myself that I can still feel FULL!

Is this normal? Am I just starting to get crazy on the liquid diet? My need to chew something is getting hard to fight!

    Thanks -

  13. Call you surgeon's office. I also had the same sensation but it was on my upper left thigh. I was told it just happens sometimes. Mine got better on its own, but you should call.

So glad you posted this. Mine is on the outside of my upper right thigh. When I had another surgery 6 years ago (it was much more invasive, lung surgery), I developed a numb spot on the outside of my upper left thigh. It has gotten better, but still is more numb at times than others. I never inquired about it because it was never too uncomfortable or seemed much cause for concern.

  14. I called my dr. office the 2nd day after surgery. I really needed some coffee. I was told I could have regular coffee, but that it did not count toward my 64 required oz of Decaf fluids. I have some regular coffee in the morning - just a cup or maybe 2 on the weekend, and if i want coffee during the day I have decaf. I go for my 2 week post-op on Thursday and expect that I will get more info then.

    Good luck!
