Where are all the Michigan people at??
slim&trim replied to Cinnaberry's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know its easy for me to tell you not to be scared, I was scared also at 58 it was a big step after living my life the way I wanted, I'm still scared, I want to succeed but to do so I had to take that step, I know it's a live changeing surgery, but I just wanted so bad to not be this big any longer. I can happily say I weighted myself today, two and half weeks after surgery and I have lost 14 pounds, of course I can't eat yet, I'm still on full liquids but my pants are actully looser. So all I can say is if you are ready to make a big change in your life meaning little meals and little pieces of food and excerise etc., you will get the strenght to forge ahead. I wish you all the luck in the world, please feel free to keep me posted. -

Thats great, I take blood presure pills but have for a long time it sure would be nice to get off them. I hope I will be as suscessful as you have been. I did weigh myself on Monday and was down 13 pounds, I know it will slow up once I get to eat some solid foods but I want to still keep my eye on the calories. -

Hi Teachlady: I'm glad someone else was banded in Port Huron, I know the lady at work also did it there and she was just trilled, that is part of the reason I went there, she hasn't had any problems at all and she told me she can eat anything which was vey exciting to me because I don't vomit. Too bad your so far away but if you ever come this way we will have to meet for what else (dinner) but together we can make it a small food dinner or we can share. -

I live in the Thumb pretty far from where you are at. It sure is nice to know that you have lost so much weight, I hope I can be as lucky. My husband is pretty good, no snaks, thank goodness he likes fruit alot. I don't go on this site much either, dial up and all it's pretty slow. I know there is a group in Port Huron and I plan on attending once I can get more information, but I really would like to keep in touch with you I'm sure since you have had yours for a while you can give me a ton of pointers. I do have some questions like have you had any problems with eating food or any medical problems. I still worry and of course I'm not really eating yet, I can start full liquids next week and that will be for two weeks and then I can do soft foods. I know I have lost a few pounds because I really don't eat much but I really don't feel very hungrey either. If you have any infor please feel free to pass it on and I will be more that than happy to support you anyway that I can. -

Hi, I just had mine done in Port Huron, did it the 22nd, I was pretty disappointed with this site also, maybe Michiganders don't go onto the internet, anyway, I would love to hear from you and how you are doing, and it would be great to talk with someone who has also had the surgery, I'm 59 and my husband is being great but it's nice to have someone who knows what you are going through to talk to. -
sept 24 surgery date anyone else?
slim&trim replied to littlesweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had mine on the 22nd (grandsons birthday), today is my 6th day with the band and I feel soooooooo much better, had a lot of gas and found out that I really need to up my protien, did more portien yesterday and feel so much better today. I have been doing stuff around the house, took the week off from work returning tomorrow. I do walk everyday, it might not be a lot but I go get the mail (about 1/4 mile walk) and did some shopping yesterday. It still hurts some where they put the port, all in all I feel better. I did read a book that was recommended to me (Weight Loss Surgery with the Gastric Lapband), was pretty informative. I hope everyone out there does well with the lapband, at 59 I finally realized that I needed more than just anothere diet. Looked into other things but they all seemed so dangerous and as we get older we are more carefull, I feel that I am ready to change my life, older and smarter I guess we also get more concerned about safety, I now believe that I can eat less and still be happy that I don't have to have 3 slices of pizza I can have 1 and still feell like I'm ok. My husband seems to be supportive of this surgery, I did take him with me to the seminar so that he would understand better why I was doing this. I haven't weighed myself yet, will wait until tomorrow when I go to the nurses station at work and see what has happened, I don't expect to loss a lot of weight fast it took a long time to get here and I'm sure it will take a long time to change back. Good luck to you and everyone out there that has had the lapband. -

Beneprotien should only be used as a supplement to add to your protien intake, I did try to get most of the things I eat now with protien in them but if you need supplyment it is a good way to add to your food without makeing it taste funny I did hear that K20 water is really good also. As for gas, walking has really helped me, thank goodness it is finally coming out, sure does feel better. -

I got my band on Monday the 22nd, a little tender in the tummy but I'm glad I had it done, don't worry about the eating I reallly haven't felt hungry and as a matter of fact didnt even eat everything they gave me at the hospital which included (supper) two popsickles, juice, jello, non fat milk, broth and tea, I did one popsickle, milk (protein) and did drink the tea later. Today I did basically thei same thing, but since I've been home I have had some coffe, two yogarts and I'm planning on eating some jello, but I really don't know if I will be able to handl the jello yet. Good luck to all and my birthday is also end of the month. -

I haven't had surgery yet, it's this Monday, my daughter gave me a can of Beneprotein, by Nestle, she has to give it to my grandson in his feeding tube, it only has 25 calories and can be either mixed with water or put in soft food it's high qualitywhey protein with rich amino acid profile. I know we have to check with our Doctors but it might help with the protein we need. -
