  1. I did 1 protein shake but stretched it over the course of the day. then 1 6 ounce piece of lean meat at night. Celery as a snack and zero sugar gatorade that you can mix in water. good luck, you are only at the beginning and its the roughest part.
  2. I am really noticing a uptick in comments from when people see me post surgey in a good meaning way , but it is causing a bit of body dysmorphia where my mind hasn't caught up with my body changes. How do you guys cope with that? It has been 11 months since my surgery. I had a small bout of it early on in my journey but not it is becoming more pronounced.

    May 2024 Surgery Buddies 😁

Six months out, one incision hasn’t healed. It’s the one where the stomach was pulled out of. Bodies heal differently, it’ll eventually go away.

I have felt like this after my surgery. I know it’s rough, power through. Try mixers like sugar free lemonade/gatorade, you can get them at the grocery store assuming you are in the states. That helped me get through the liquid stage.

    Help, pre-op mistake :(

I mean, I had a bagel two days before my surgery, I needed something after a lot of travel. A one off won't kill your chances, but you need to be strong, and not do that again. If you do, you need to let your doctor know. The worst thing you can do is conceal something that can affect your surgeon's ability to perform your surgery. The when you have to fast the day before your surgery and you eat something you need to stay strong.

As someone who has lost over 180lbs since my surgery (in December) it’s mind blowing. It may not be as fast as that, there is a lot of factors that makes everyone’s body unique. Try to set little realistic goals and try to blow past them. First it 30, then another 20 then more and more and more. Good luck and be sure to follow your doctors post op plan!

Is it easier to drink than normal water? Honestly unless it has a powder mix in it, I’m not drinking it.

Hi Sandra, Two weeks of shakes are the hardest but once you get past the surgery you will kill for that. I would not plan on staying in bed often after the surgery during the hospital stay. It is best to start walking at least once an hour. I was the only one of the 12 people who got the surgery who was up all night just walking. Hospital beds are the worst to sleep in. Best of luck in your journey.
  9. I am 4 months out and down 185 pounds. Looking at these two photos is mind-blowing to me

    I want solid foooooooood!!!!

I hear ya, trust me, it gets easier. Just drink a lot of water, dehydration got me good. I waited an extra week to go solid, start small when you do, a slice of deli cheese will tell you if you are good to go or not.
  11. For me, I am cautious with every food I have been trying. Thankfully, with the exception of chicken, I am not finding myself adhering to that rule, again cautiously. It all depends on how your body is reacting, everyone is different.
