  1. i had my lapband the same day as you 1-0/29/08. I only lost 8 lbs. How did you lose 26. I have my first fill dec. 15. when is your first fill? congrats on losing weight!!!!

I think you were talking to me. I have continued to say no to bread, potatoes, rice adn Pasta. I keep my food record on www.sparkpeople.com and I average 1000 - 1100 calories per day. I have started to the gym. i've gone twice and I am getting ready to go now. I watch my carbs. I have been doing pretty good with the bandsters guidelines. I posted the guidelines I have been trying to follow on my blog. You can check it out there. I hope that helps. My first fill in next Tuesday!:):Dancing_biggrin::unsure:

  2. Hello all well may i say that i have had my first fill today and it was not bad at all and i am down 17 lbs total from 10/22/08. I have a question how that i have had a fill will i lose more weight now just wondering.

    BootyBee,

My understanding is that the goal is to lose 1-2 lbs per week without battling hunger. I'm starting to worry that I won't get a fill next week like scheduled. I am losing although it is really slowing down but I think I'll still hit the 1-2 per week.

I get hungry about 3 hours after eating instead of 4 like I've heard it should be. That might get me my fill. :confused:I can eat more than 1/2 - 1 cup of food, but not 2 cups. I am ready to start on regular food and I need to stay away from soft stuff now. I've been keeping the cottage cheese industry alive single-handedly for the past 3 weeks. :blushing:I need to start following my Protein with veggies. I have some great veggies from green giant that microwave in their little pouch at work.

I just started to the gym. My goal is 3 times a week for 30min of cardio. I hope to make it more, but to begin with I will allow myself no guilt if I get there at least 3 times a week. I will start some weight training after my fill next week. That will put me at 4 weeks out. I have my Wii too.

You know what. That Wii is a danger to my health. My hip isn't the same since I found hula-hooping. And I haven't done that in a week. It is still sore. Just to clarify I am not 75 years old. It's not like I've worn out the poor hip.....I'm only 34 for crying out loud! :rolleyes2:

I figure if I'm still afraid that I won't get the fill on Tuesday I'll call on Monday. I don't want to drive 7 hours for a "sorry not today" speech.

Its great to hear how everyone is going. Keep posting!!!

  3. Sorry if this question seems ignorant, but what is the significance of Protein in a very low calorie diet? I know we need to have a certain amount of Protein for general health reasons (obviously), but I'm curious about what a high protein intake does to help with weight loss. I've recently switched from drinking a Meal Replacement shake with 12 grams protein twice a day to a 35g protein drink twice a day. I hate the taste of the higher protein drink and am missing the sweet chocolate-milk taste of the earlier drink I had, but am willing to stick it out for the remaining 11 days of my pre-op diet if the higher protein content helps me. If it doesn't, then it seems like I might do better just going back on the earlier drink.

It doesn't seem ignorant. When you are on a low calorie diet you want you body to burn fat, right? Of course, but if you don't get enough protien your body can start breaking down muscle and you don't want that. Protein is food for the muscles. Protein also helps with hunger. That is what I have been told and what I have noticed.

  4. At the present time I am not exercising. I had a port replacement last week because I lost the sutures and it flipped over. I am a little hesitant because I think that I may have over done the excercise and training hard with a personal trainer. Has anyone heard of this happening to anyone else? Thanks!

I have heard of it. I had some pain about a week post op while sitting at my kid's concert. I will be happy after my first fill to make sure my port is ok.

  5. Hey guys I'm back. I'm about 10 days post op and feeling good. I have a question for you. According to my dietary guidelines that Paula gave me it had me on a liquide diet day 2-14 but able to start to transition to soft food during week two. Well I did transition into soft food on day 7. I feel great. It made me start to feel like I was healing. My question is with most people telling me this is a really fast transition to soft food I am a little worried that I read this wrong.

What was your experience? Also I have my first fill in a couple of weeks. How did that go for you? I know every doctor is different. That is why I wanted to ask you about this.

Thanks for your support. I know I am an October baby....but I kind of think of you guys as older (and wiser) sisters.

  6. Help me. I just had two sugar cookies....well the dough anyway. I am thinking about having frozen pizza for supper. I haven't had bread, potatoes, Pasta or rice for a month. I have been very good. I am not usually hungry....well I eat if I am. I have been eating 3 meals a day and a Protein Drink 3 times a day. I ate around 800 calories yesterday and 900 the day before that. Before that it is 600 and then down in the 300 range because I was on fluids post-op. Would it really be bad to have a piece or two of pizza? I need more calories anyway.

I am afraid if I start to eat something I shouldn't then all will be lost and I will start to eat like crap all the time. What should I do? I can't be good forever. I have done good until today. HELP!!!
