Well I am thinking about those that are having surgery today. I hope you will come back and post very soon. I am going to start a thread so you have a place to post all about your surgery experience. I can't wait to hear from all of you!!!

I live in Kansas and I will be having surgery in Denver, CO.

It was only about 6 weeks ago that I decided to have a consult to get banded. I waited a few weeks and dropped $150 and then found out that insurance is a no go....so then I did more research and found Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver and made another consult appt and scheduled my surgery. Now I have less than a month to go. Part of me (a big part..pardon the pun) is afraid that this won't work. That part of me is almost afraid to get too excited. The other part of me can't believe that I am getting ready to start this VERY IMPORTANT step into the rest of my life. I want to start singing......I'M SO EXCITED.....AND I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT.....

I want to stay up until midnight and see my countdown have less than 1 month on it. How pitifull is that? October....here we come! :woot::eek::Banane42::biggrin::Banane53::Banane59::dita::tongue::tongue:

I read and I start to wonder if the many that are in our pumpkin patch that are currently on hormone treatments and antidepressants will need those after weight loss. Of course some will, and there is nothing wrong with that, but I know medications can be metabolized differently with a significant weight loss....and then there is the freedom we can gain from loosing half of ourselfs.

OH...I lost my post! Wow! Where do I start...These are in no particular order. My kids being able to put their arms all the way around me when they hug my waist. Being comfortable in my own skin. Not feeling like a toad on a log while sitting in the bleachers watching my kids play sports. Wanting to be in pictures with my family. CROSSING MY LEGS!!!! Being comfortable in airplane seats. (I am flying this week. ) Wearing cute short (to the waist) jackets. Not buying shirts that are long enough to cover my tummy. Not being so self conscious in the situation where you should be most confident. Intamacy with DH. (He has been married to me when I weighed my heaviest and my lightest. He loves me just as I am. :crying:) Not thinking about wether or not I am the heaviest person in the room. (Usually I am.)

Welcome to the Pumpkin Patch!!!:rolleyes2: We are smashing pumpkins around here. That is fast! I hope times flies for all of us before our surgery. I am still trying to learn as much as I can. There are some good books out there too. I love these boards. I wish I could spend the whole day on them!

I'm not scared of the surgery. I am scared of it not working for me. I know everyone says if you follow most of the rules and get fills to find you "sweet spot" it will work. I am nervous. I just got a big job offer yesterday and now I have that to worry about as well. I kind of wish I could concentrate on my surgery....but this will also make the time go faster.

I am having surgery on Wednesday Oct 29 and plan on returning to work on Monday. I just hope everything goes as planned. :girl_hug:

Oh my gosh! I am scheduled Oct. 29th with Dr. Kirshenbaum! We will need to keep in touch! I'm so happy to find this group! We are in the same boat!

I have told my husband and my primary care physician. I wish I hadn't told him. (We work together and attend church together too.) I don't plan on telling anyone else. We have a problem...finding someone to watch the kids when we go to Denver to have my surgery. I don't know what we will tell the person that helps us out with that. I have a big mouth, but every time I think of telling a friend I wonder...what if I the person this doesn't work for????

I used to sell slumber parties when I just became a nurse and worked night shift. The rabbit was the "Rolls Royce" of toys. It was even on Sex in the City. .....It deserved the name. :eek:

I just interviewed for the Clinical Informatics RN position at a hopsital being built. DH and I went yesterday and we like a small town nearby. Now the real question is do we want to up root our whole family for this great job offer! Anyone that does my job would jump at the chance to work in a new hopsital completely interfaced with no paper. They will even have vs machines in every room that will auto imput the data to the EMR and will begin with everything including CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry). We would have to figure out where DH would work. I'm getting financing in line and DH said maybe you should wait with everything going on. I told him I would pass on the job if I had to chose. DUH!:thumbup: He said ok. No problem. Good luck to all in their pursuit of a job they love!:eek:

I'm jealous. I will be in town the week before. I wish it was the same day!

Remember the ones that hurt are (as a general rule) not the ones to worry about it is the ones that don't hurt that your doctors are going to be even more cautious about. Better safe than sorry in the long run anyway!!!

I am looking into financing. Dr. K's office needs payment by Oct. 15th. Have you shopped around? Who was the easiest to work with? I have applied with surgeryloans.com and been approved, but I haven't heard what there interest rate is. I have a job interview on Friday and weather we move or stay the amount of the monthly payments will make a significant dent in our budget. Can you help me? Even though interest rates are partially determined by credit rating is there one out there you recomend?:thumbup::crying:

Oh My Gosh!!!! I have scheduled my surgery! October 3rd is the phone consult. Oct. 28 is the pre-op appt and I am having my very own band placed on OCTOBER 29TH at 11:00am hospital time (give or take 6 hrs.) :tt1: I am SO EXCITED!!!! I think I'll dress up as the luckiest girl in the world for Halloween! I can barely contain myself. I am keeping this private so I can't call and gush to my friends or family about it. My husband was the first one I wanted to call anyway. WOW! I can't wait!!!!! Love to all the world today from Kansas!!! (This is the best Monday EVER!!!)
