    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I have just noticed that too. I have heard it doesn't last long. I have heard some say it is because of too little calories or too much protein or not enough or just rapid wt loss. I guess as long as I don't become bald it is something I can live with if it means not being morbidly obese anymore.

    Oct. 24 pain in side

I haven't had a pain at my port. I have gotten a pain or "stitch" in my left side if I eat too much. I would call your doctor and let him know. He should be able to answer that question. I know everyone is SO different. Great job on the 35# so far!!!
  4. I've had my Wii fit since November. I love it. I haven't played online with anyone yet. I usually don't really wok would much on the wii because I go to the gym 3-5 days a week. We'll have to see how it works out. Carefull iwth the the hoola hoop. It killed my hip for about a month!

  8. Yep I get on my wii fit EVERY morning and weigh myself. Even if I don't do a lot of working out on it (because I go to the gym all the time) but keeping track and weighing in really helps me alot!

Can you go in soon er than that? How long has it been since your last fill? Is your doctor flexible for you? I canceled my last appt and although I think that I would be okay with a fill, but so far I am doing okay and sice I got stuck once I think that I would rather not be on the tight side. Let us know how you are doing!
  11. Hey Sarah,

Where have you been? How's it going? I haven't heard from you in a while. Let me know.

    JA

  12. I'm so glad that you are feeling some restriction! It took me a while before the full force hit me. That is great news. Go with it!

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I think that best therapy for me would seeing myself in pictures and liking what I see. I was at that point 9 years ago when I lost weight due to a medical problem. I liked what I saw. Maybe that would help. I think that what I see in the mirror has NEVER jived with what I see in picutres. I know now that what I saw in the mirror before surgery was not my true weight. I saw me as about 40 lbs lighter than I was. I didn't realize how out of control I had gotten until I saw myself in picture and almost didn't recognize me because I was so big and uncomfortable looking. I can't wait to not recognize myself because I am so slim!

Don: I think it is great you have started bowling again. Isn't it nice to get more active. To have the energy to get more active! nrpnrp: I look at clothes and think that either they would fit me and they are too big or they look too small and then they fit. It is a great thing. I do worry about my self image. I still look in the mirror and see (although a difference) still someone that is FAT. Yes, I am still fat. I still weigh over 200 on my little 5'4" frame, but I am almost halfway to goal. I know already that I will need a tummy tuck to be happy with my body after I reach my goal, but I'm afraid...what if that doesn't even make me happy?
  15. Dr. K operates on obese but otherwise generally health patients. He doesn't do pre-op testing. He will go over it all with you. He is great about giving you all the time to ask all the questions you have. I have heard of some getting lab and EKG at their primary care doctor's office. I wish I would have had a cardiac panel drawn to check my cholesterol and triglycerides and such, but that is just to see where I was and how far I've come. I would have liked my A1C checked to see how high my blood sugars had been running. Again that is all just for information. I am anal retentive about having as much information as possible. I even have 3 excel spread sheets to track differnt parts of my weight loss. I guess that's the nurse in me. Dr. K is very kind will give you all the information you ask for!
  16. Sure. It was basically modified atkins. Absolubtely no bread, pasta, rice or potatoes in an effort to shrink the liver and get rid of all the fatty stuff. Three healthy meals a day and protein shakes in between. That was when Dr. K said to me if you aren't hungry then don't eat. That is very important. That was when my eating habits chaged big time!

    Which band to use?

This is the BIG question most ask before banding. I asked it to. My doctor used the Lap Band more but would have used the Realize Band if I prefered. I figured that if he had more experience with the Lap Band then I would do that. I have also heard that it takes longer to get restriction (I hate that word.) with the realize band. I knew I needed to see results to keep me moving forward. I liked some parts of both. They say the results are the same by 18 month out. Good Luck!
  18. I guess that would be me. I'll put you down for a goal of -12. We are going until April 1st. We will still post on Saturdays. Let me know if the time table changes your goal.

asked out for a 2nd date!!

    Congrats and good luck!
  20. I'm sure this is something you have either heard before or have experienced. I am scared of getting banded. Not the surgery or the change in lifestyle, but....what if I don't succeed? Am I hiding behind my limitations and once I have this there is nothing to hide behind? I have lost weight and gained weight and lost it again and found it plus some. I know how to lose weight. I am looking for the tool to help me make this a change of LIFE. I am thinking that I don't want to tell anyone about it. I don't want people to say, "Yeah, she had surgery. She HAD to have surgery." I think part of it is that I am embarrased to admit that my weight has started to impact my everyday life. From the rare airplane ride that I have started to dread because of the seats and the seatbelts to the difficulty with intimacy with my wonderful sexy husband because I feel too self conscious about myself. I don't want my kids to know. I guess I feel that I have failed on my own and I need help. A lot of help. I feel like a failure. Oh please don't be mad at me. I don't feel like everyone that has surgery is a failure. In fact I have been very excited since I made the decision to take this big step. I guess it is the ups and downs of feeling crappy about myself. I recently got together with my sisters and I was the biggest one. Three of us have always been big, but this time I was the grossest. I have been looking at pictures today. At 5'4" and 275lbs of course I look bad. Sometimes you just don't know until you have to look at it. I dress professionally everyday for work, but I can't even cross my legs. I don't feel comfortable just sitting in a chair unles I have a table in front of me to lean on and hide behind. I do feel that some people are less than welcoming to me because of my weight. I want to change that. I want to be able to cross my legs. I want to be able to enjoy traveling because the seats are comfortable. I want to put on clothes and feel good. I want to wear a size 16 or less. How sad it that? I want to wear a size 16. People who wear a size 16 hate that size and feel too big. About 8 years ago I have a thyroid disease and lost weight. I weighed 170 lbs. I desparately want to feel that way again. I want my husband to want to be with me because he finds my sexy, not just because he loves me. (Wow. How many women say just the opposite!) I want my kids to be proud of me. I want to WANT to be in pictures. I want this surgery more than anything right now. I want to be proud. I want to be healthy. I want to love what I see in pictures. Well, I had the surgery at the end of October. I have made this a LIFE change so far. I haven't told anyone really except my doc, my hubby and a friend. Intimacy is SO MUCH BETTER!!! I look forward to flying in April for business because I don't worry about the seats and seatbelts. I think I am now the SMALLEST sister although I won't see any of them until I visit them this summer and they don't know yet. I just bought a size 16 pants and I can cross my leggs and frequently do sitting at my desk at work. I love my band. His name is Band Jovi!:tt1:

    Will i be a success?

Below is my post and I think I will add it to my blog. I wrote this in August when I decided to do this and I was banded in October. I have lost 66 lbs so far. ----------------- "I'm sure this is something you have either heard before or have experienced. I am scared of getting banded. My April Fool's Day goal is 19 lbs (and that means wonderland since I am 218.7 now). That is going to be hard for me to hit and I will be traveling out of town on buisness for a week during that! That is always what derailed my weight loss before the band. It will be tough to work out and eat right on the road! I guess it will be a big test for me because I have to do it again in April! Good luck girls. I can't wait to see how you have done this week! Let me know how many want in on our next challage and what your goal is!
