    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

Probablly the best thing I do it record my meals on www.sparkpeople.com If you have started with the dailyplate then that is GREAT! I keep my carbs low and my protein high. I eat a lot of turkey, chicken and some red meat. I love cottage cheese. Although it is a soft food it helps the drier meats go down easily and is another Great source of protein. Remember no bread, potatoes, rice or potatoes. That will limit the cravings after it is out of your system. EVERYTIME....EVERYTIME you start looking for food ask yourself if you are hungry. Really hungry. Not head hunger. Not...it will taste so good. Is your stomach empty and that is why you are going to eat? Ask yourself that EVERYTIME! That made such a difference for me. I have done that everyday for 6 months. It took about 3 months for it to become a lifestyle...a habit. Cheryl, If I can do this then so can you! Turn you frown upside down and realize that you already have the best tool for weight loss. Many people would love to be exactly where you are right now. You are one of the lucky ones! Take advantage! :cool2:

This is not hard to do at all!

Positive is the ONLY way to be. You will have hills and valleys, but it is the best thing I've ever done. There are things I have given up....and it has so been worth it!!!

    A light turned on.

Michelle, I get on the Wii every morning and weigh myself. I have seen it say I am obese for about 5 months. I can't wait to hear what it sounds like when it says I am overweight. I will get there and so will you!
  5. mymy, Can I ask how much your vaneers are goiong to cost? I was thinking braces or vaneers. I know....I'm in my thirty's too!

  6. Sarah,

Honey don't EVER cancel because you haven't lost much weight. That is one of the biggest and most important reasons to get a fill. Remember you doctor has seen it all. It seems that they will jump all over you and you story is very personal, but not unique. Remember one of the best things about the band is that it is adjustable for those times that you do fall off the wagon. Bypass isn't and this is one of the best reasons to have the band.

Hang in there. Jump back on the wagon. Walk for 30 minutes if you don't feel like working hard. That is better than no exercise and it will make you feel better about doing something for your health. Starting up is ALWAYS the hardest part.

    Friday Weigh-in

Well I can't believe I am at 196.0 I have all but lost 90lbs. Wow! We are all a sucess stories! See my success story at Lap Band Surgery Success Stories | Lap Band Of The Rockies - Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum My Doc put me on his website!
  8. Thanks. I don't like the idea of bypass because of the malapsorptive issues and it is not adjustable or reversible. I have a friend that had it done 4 years ago and although she dropped a lot of weight she is starting to regain and she says she can eat anything and everything she wants just as before with no change in how she feels except ice cream.

I like the fact that if I fall off the wagon I can get an adjustment and jump back on and over time when the effects wear off I can get a fresh start with an adjustment. So far I can eat anything I want...I chose not to. I haven

t tried much bread and no pasta, rice or potatoes. I love my band. It is awesome. I hope you found my blog and checked it out. I'm so glad I started to keep my journal. It is great to go back and read and remind me of how far I have come and the drive I have found.

    Good luck!!!

    My Journey

Congrats! I too started n the 208's and I am about to the 180's and from a 24 to a 14-16. I too have a 145 goal. Isn't it amazing? Picking up clothes that never look like they will fit and they end up being the perfect size. I still haven't gotten used to seeing a size 14 on things I buy. You are an inspiration. Keep up the great work.

Letting people in on my secret....

Today I have taken a huge step for me and decided to share my experience with others around me. Until now the only people that have known has been my hubby, a friend that I told in Nov/Dec and last week I told another friend as she went with me to my latest fill. I have shared my story with the girls I break with at work. Why? Well I was at work in one of the nurse's stations and someone was nice enough to pay me a compliement. I said thank you and when asked told them that I was watching what I ate and work out . They kept going on and more people started until finally I just politely left. It made me uncomfortable because I felt like I was lying by omission. I kind of felt like I should tell them the entire truth. I talked to my friends that knew and they said that people would wonder anyway. I know it was my decision and a little part of me will always want to keep it to myself, but part of me wanted to share it too. I still wonder if I did the right thing. It is still a little confusing. My friends at work were really supportive and happy for me. We will see what happens next.

    The fill has kicked in!

Okay....so much for it taking 10 days for the fill to kick in! I had a fill two days ago and I can tell!!! I even have to really watch my bites I haven't had to do that in months. I have to admit that I am a little worried about how tight I will get in the next 10 - 14 days. I guess we will see. Maybe this will get me just where I need to be. For the first time I didn't schedule my next appointment. We will play it by ear. I am hoping that it will be 2-3months or more before I need to go back. My six month banniversary is coming up. I will post pics soon. I can't believe that my next goal is the -100lb mark. So far I am down 86!!!

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

HUMM.... Do you keep track of everything you eat on a site like sparkpeople or the dailyplate? Those are great to see where you are doing well and where you need to improve. Do you know your calorie intake? I think it sounds like you are doing the right things. Do you need a fill. It sounds like you aren't in the "green zone" if your weight loss has slowed or stopped. That might jumpstart you again!

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I know what you mean. I am a ways away, but I too am worried about maintenance. I've never been there before. It is a challenge I can't wait to take on!!! That is AWESOME! I wish i would hit -100 by 6 months, but I've got another 13 lbs to go. Oh well it will be here by month 7! You have done great! I can't believe that the 190's are on my scale! I'm sure you feel the same way. Seeing the 180s will be surreal!
  21. I did take my friend and it was great! My 7 hour drive FLEW BY! I told her about it and she was very curious and I loved answering questions about it. I don't answer questions since I keep this to myself. I think I made the right decision to share it with another friend. I have one more that I will share with when the time is right. Thanks for asking. Funny thing with this fill....it is my noon meal that seems to be tight. Morning and night is no problem generally. Strange. I'm glad your fill is doing great things for you too!

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

nrpnrp: Wow look how close you are to goal! That is amazing! Way to go!
  23. I'm not sure what to put down. I weigh 198.6 which is still kind of unbelieveable! So I have 13.6 to lose to hit goal so I guess I might have been off on my goal to lose. So I guess put me down for -4.9 unless our weigh in starts next Monday. I just got a fill on Friday and usually it take about 10-14 days to kick in. Not this time! It has kicked in. I have to watch my bites and chew. I haven't had to do that in a long long time. We'll see what this next couple of weeks has in store!

    Dr.Benavides

I drank a shake a day or more as directed. It helped to get my protein in. I also started keeping track of my food on an on lin journal. I use www.sparkpeople.com. You can also use the dailyplate.com or lapband has one too now. I baked my chicken and also baked turkey breast for the week. I loved to eat my turkey breast with cottage cheese and peas. I love it, although it might sound gross to some.
