  4. Hi Lou Ann,

Havent heard from you wanted to see how things are with you. I havent had a fill yet. had some trouble with my incision. But have managed to keep 21lbs off without a fill. If my incision is healed i get to have a fill dec 5th. So how are things with you?

    Vegetables?

Good luck. Just remember that everything you eat should be moist. This isn't a vegetable but last week I made a mistake of eating a few bites of very dry chicken. I also didn't chew very well( I was in a hurry). Well, I paid for that. It was soooo painful and I just wanted to throw up. It was obviously stuck. I had some drool coming out of my mouth. So I took a few sips of water and walked around a bit. This really helped, although I still had some pain there for the rest of the day so I ate very soft foods and warm liquids for the rest of day. Since them I either put fat free gravy or make sure everything is very moist!

    Vegetables?

I eat vegetables and have no problems. Others do. I can eat a small salad with romaine lettuce, spinach, tomatoes and cukes. I stay away from raw broccilli and cauliflower. I can eat them cooked. I eat cooked green beans and peas also. I stay away from corn so far. I've only been banded since Sept 17th.

    I lost 100 lbs.

Congrats! I think that is sooo awesome. I have lost 40 pounds since my banding on Sept. 17th. I also have not had a fill and feel the restriction. Is this uncommon? Or are we just lucky!?!
  8. Hi Renea!

Not heard from you. How are things going? I am doing great and feeling very well. Hope you are too!

    Newly banded in MI

Hi Jennie! I also live in Michigan in a small town close to Kalamazoo. I lived in Traverse City for many years prior to moving here. My husband and I both worked for the State Hospital at the time and it closed so we transferred down here. He is now retired and I work at Bronson. Anyhow, I was just banded myself on Sept. 18th and am doing well. I am not scheduled for my first fill until Oct. 31st and am a little nervous about that. I will check out your blog site! Take care, LouAnn

    4 days Post Op

I am 3 weeks post op and doing very well! It does get better trust me. I've already lost 30 pounds(16 with my pre op diet and 14 post op). I was eating so poorly for 10 days I think that's why I lost so quickly. This past week I lost 2 pounds which is about right. I'm one of the lucky ones who already feels the restriction. I can't eat more then an 1/2 cup of food for my meals......... I don't get hungry until it is meal time. That is so awesome to me. My surgeon told me every one is different, some feel the restriction right away and don't need a fill for a few months, others are hungry still. This truly is the best think I have ever done for myself!:tt1: Today I started walking more and walked a mile but my legs got all wobbly so I guess I have got to build some stamina back up as I was walking 2 miles a day before my surgery. After 6 weeks I will rejoin Curves and start a more vigorous excerise routine.

    4 days Post Op

Yes, this is normal. I did still had nausea and that tightness until about 8 days post op. The pain in your shoulders is gas and walking helps the best for that. I was only consuming about 500 calories aday until about my 10th day post op. Everyone is different but what you are experiencing is not uncommon. Of course, if you are concerned you need to speak with your surgeon and/or his/her nurse. Good luck on you venture. It is truly worth it!
  12. Hi just wanted to see how you are doing. I go back to work tonight at 7p. I aready have in mind what to take to work. I am on pureed foods. I am worried that I eat to much. Probally not but still worry. How are you doing with eating. I guess after almost 4 weeks of liquids it is scarey when we eat. I go back to doc oct 16 for another post op visit and he then will talk to me about a fill. Hope you are doing well.

    Renea

  13. Yes, you will be able to lay down. I had a lot of pain and burning and once I thought my port had moved(it hadn't) I was able to be more comfortable after about a week, but even after 2 weeks I still had some burning at times. I'm now 3 weeks postop and it is so much better. If it continues to bother you after a few more days, call your surgeon's office. I'm so glad I've had my band done. I've already lost 28 pounds (combo pre surgical diet and what I have lost post op) and feel so much better already. So will you!

    Newbie from chicago: HI!

Great advice Restless Monkey and welcome newbie. You don't have to stay with this surgeon. shop around. He/she can't be the only one. Talk to others in your area who are banded and see what their experiences have been. Good luck
  15. Thanks so much! This is very helpful. I knew that could happen. I just didn't know what pb meant.
