October 2023 surgery buddies

Congratulations losing 48 pounds in six weeks-that is great! As to the stall, I had the exact same issue. It is to be expected, I was warned about it by my doctor. I thought I was prepared, but when I didn't lose for over two weeks it really did mess with my head. I think I am out of it now, but I did extend my exercise a bit, drank more water and tried to make sure I was eating very healthy. The stall between 3-8 (mine hit at 7.5 weeks) weeks is expected and normal, and you will have more stalls. I get it; I really do. I felt the same way you feel and was so frustrated about losing/gaining the same pound for 18 days. Measure yourself as one person suggested and just remember that it will pass. It is so frustrating, but hang in there. You can do this! -

I won't be at three months until the end of January, but I am in a stall (two weeks now). I have been at the same weight (give or take a few ounces) since January 3. It is really frustrating, but expected. I have done really well otherwise. I have not cheated and sailed through the holidays (and Disneyland) without being tempted (well, I was tempted but did not give in). I am very proud of that (and my daughter has been making bread, cookies and muffins weekly--I have not had any of it). I think I am a slow loser, but am happy with what I have lost up until the stall. I need to drink more water and exercise more (though the last week we have had ice storm upon ice storm), but am getting in the protein. I am trying to concentrate on how to get a variety of healthy foods as opposed to eating the same thing. I also need to meal plan more. Is anyone tired. I get enough sleep but sometimes feel my energy is low. Anyone else having issues with that? I hope everyone is doing well. I too am curious to hear how everyone is doing. -

You will do fine. Being anxious is normal. I had the sleeve on 10/27 and had no issues at all. I was never even tired. At times I question whether I even had the surgery (which I have heard from others) because I have had no pain, nada. I was tired and dizzy the first day after surgery, but that is normal. I am losing weight (and following my doctor's recommendations exactly), and I have no hunger (except some head hunger--which I counteract by trying to focus on what is really going on--smells of food being one). Remembering your why is a very good way to deal with head hunger or any other obstacle you might experience. So many people say this, but it really is the choices you make on a daily basis. As to wiping your butt, they want you up and walking ASAP to get rid of the gas--if you can walk, you can wipe your butt. Good luck!! -

I had surgery Friday also. Everything went well, but I have this pain in my shoulder/neck. I am far enough out that I do not think it is gas pain. Has anyone else had this kind of pain? I am guessing it might be from how I was laying on the operating table. I feel pretty good. I am not having trouble getting water or protein shakes down (though I definitely need to drink more as it is slow going). I haven't had to nap today at all. The first two days were a bit rough as I am pretty sensitive to anesthesia and the medications are too much for me. Now that it is over, I am doing okay. -

Kendrajones Thank you for the information. It is always good to know what to expect. You are lucky to have your sister staying with you. Just keep taking care of yourself. I ended up having my stomach bleed because I overdid it after my hysterectomy (because I felt fine, just tired). I delayed my recovery and had to be even more careful. So, I think taking it easy in these early days leads to a quicker recovery. I heard getting the water in the first few days is hard and that leads to the woozy feeling. My surgery is October 27; it will be here before I know it. Being so close, I wish it were tomorrow so I didn't have to anticipate it so much. I am ready to be done and move on. Good luck!! Keep up posted. Remember to take it easy! -

Kendrajones. Thank you for sharing! I think the one thing I am worried about is how I will feel after surgery. I am glad to hear you did so well. I've had a hysterectomy and a c-section (not in that order, haha) and did fine. So I am sure. Just remember to be careful. When you feel okay you can overdo it. How are you with drinking? Are you hungry (some people say they are and some say hey are not)? Good luck and keep us posted. -

I start my pre-op diet on October 13; does anyone else start that day or close to it?
