When to get new clothes?!
Arendiva replied to AmberFL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my largest I was size 24. I'm currently size 18 and I still have things in my wardrobe that are size 16. Once I shrink beyond that I will either have to buy new clothes, go to a tailor and have my current clothes altered or rock out baggy clothes until my weight stabilizes. I'm trying to have a no buy year for 2024 so my plan for this calendar year is to make due with belts, tailoring , baggy clothes and dresses until next January, with the exception of underwear and bras which I refuse to wear incorrect sizes for. -
Messed up preop diet
Arendiva replied to hrichardson89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're fine. My surgeon didn't even have me do a pre-op diet. He was fine with me even eating normal food the night before,I just had to fast by midnight before the surgery. I legit had lobster risotto 13 hours pre-op. My surgery went fine and things have been going great post-surgery. -
Maybe buy some free hand weights to use at home. Strength training is supposed to help with weight loss since muscle burns more calories. You could do some basic arm, back , and chest exercises while relaxing in front of the tv at the end of the day. Much less tiring than cardio.

I've really been enjoying reading the non-scale victories thread. But since I haven't had the surgery yet obviously I don't yet have any of those. It has got me thinking about what my goals/ hopes for the future are and I was wondering what things others are wishing for. For me: 1) Regaining my fertility / becoming a mom 2) Being able to shop for non-plus sizes 3) Being able to hike / bike without foot or knee pain 4) Getting rid of my sleep apnea / not being tired all the time 5) being able to comfortably sit in stadium seating 6) Lowering my cholesterol

I'd like to get to 150 because I need to be under 155 to have a "healthy" BMI.

Day 3 post op and then the next time was day 5.

I've really been enjoying drinking bone broth (not to be confused with stock or regular broth). The bone broth I buy is 10 grams of protein per cup. It goes down easy.

I was approved to go home on the afternoon of the 22nd. I’m doing much better now that I’m home since I have a much better selection of stage 1 and stage 2 foods at home. Hitting my fluid goal is still a challenge but I’m determined to push through. On the bright side I have very little pain.

I had my surgery 10/20 I’m still in the hospital because I wasn’t able to progress to stage two. I have been having trouble keeping fluids down. Things have improved these past few hours though so I’m hoping to get back home tomorrow.

I don't have an assigned pre-op diet but I've been choosing to do 2 liquid meals a day and then a healthy supper. I've also been keeping to 1200 calories.

If you don't mind me asking what is the post-surgery pain level like? Have you been able to comfortably move around / resume normal daily activities?

So we're almost half way through the month. How are people doing so far with their surgeries and/or pre-op diets? My surgery isn't until October 20th but I'm already down 6 pounds this month from pre-op dieting which I'm pretty excited about.

It's been 15 years since I was on the dating scene, but I met my husband on eharmony back in 2008 and we are still very happy together.

How long from first doctor visit to surgery?
Arendiva replied to KD in CT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My initial appt was July 23rd and my surgery is scheduled for October 20th. So just shy of 3 months for me. -
So, what are people nervous about or currently struggling with? I'm trying to pre-emptively get in the habit of not drinking 30 before meals until 30 minutes after meals but I'm struggling with that. Drinking fluids with meals is so auto-pilot for me that I feel like that is going to be the hardest habit to break because I don't even think about it. Eating makes me thirsty.

Yay! I'm so glad that there is a group for October sleevers. I'm sister did the gastric sleeve surgery 3 years ago and she speaks very highly of having a month group to chat and process with. My surgery date is October 20th.
