  1. Oh and most importantly....Happy Birthday!!!
  2. You got this! I have been to birthday parties and such that are full of food/drinks. It does suck to follow guidelines, but it gets easier! Before you know it you will be able to have some of the food in moderation! I am not looking forward to the holidays either, and I won't be making my treats this year. 3 months going strong, it is easier every day!
  3. I am 3 months PO from VSG. My surgeon and dietician were not on sync. Post OP instructions were different than what the dietician said. Make sure you clarify everything on your post op, ie timelines, restrictions. Break up with food! I was at the point of hating food before surgery, it helped with the post op. I am being pretty strict with what I eat so far. I still mainly eat protein, very few starches/carbs/veggies/fruits. FOMO (Fear of missing out) does suck at first. Head hunger for me was the worst for 2 weeks post op. Exercise is still my downfall, my arthritis is still wrecking my knees, but less and less as time goes on. Be prepared for constipation. Find out your Dietician's timeline if you drink coffee/alcohol. Every single one is different, they don't follow a guideline. Some are super strict and some are more relaxed. Find you protein drink you like, you will be drinking quite a few of them. I need to drink one everyday to make protein goals. Find out what medications you can take before/after surgery. If you need to change them get it done before surgery. I am allergic to tylenol, so I am still able to take NSAIDs (Ibup) when I need it at a lower dose than before. i had to give up my knee meds as they are nsaids. Also if you are on blood pressure meds you will need ones that aren't a diuretic. Get your supplements before surgery or right after, you will be taking them within a few weeks. Try and get chewable everything. Pills suck to swallow at first.

    Patient

My hunger is back (started around week 8), not as bad as it was before...but so has the head hunger. If I crave certain things I know it is head hunger so I ignore it. Glad you got it done!!
  5. My surgeon recommended starting with the sleeve, and then at a later date it can be revised (if needed). If you start bypass then the sleeve would do no good.
  6. I have used premier protein the whole time, I do have some isopure protein powder as well (unflavored). My surgeon/dietician recommended premier. I have had no reactions to either of them.
  7. My friend is 3 years out from her surgery, she was still loosing up until a few months ago, she is stable at 120 now. She has a physical job (construction) so she doesn't go to the gym. It did slow down a lot took almost a year to go from 135 to 120.

    TMI Poop Talk

I pooped at the hospital, day after surgery. Right now it is 2-3 days between, I am 9 weeks post op. If I hit 3 days I start taking colace or dulcolax.
  9. I am using BariMelts multivitamin with iron...I may switch up in a few months.
  10. I am 2 months PO and still using BariMelts multivitamin w/iron. It is chewable, the taste is decent. Once I am done with this bottle I will move back to pills.

    Weight gain/stall 1 month pist

I had my surgery on 8/15 as well. I am still losing steadily. I am still around 400 calories a day, even on soft foods. First week after surgery was 3.4 pounds down, 2nd week was 14.4, 3rd week was 6.8, 4th week was 6.2, today was 5.4 lost each week. 36.2 pounds lost since surgery (I am on the larger scale for loss tho LOL). 56 pounds down since Pre Op started. 75.2 pounds down since life style changes. You will get there, my daughter had the surgery the same time I did, and she has hit stalls where she gained .5 pounds one week. I weigh in about 3 times a week, but only 1 is what I record. I am going to start weighing in only once per week. Your body is adjusting so it will take some time.
  13. I sit at a desk so I went back to work the following Monday (Surgery on Tuesday before). My daughter who is a nurse but doesn't lift patients etc, took the second week off as well and went back to work. She is on her feet all day and didn't have any issues.

    August Surgery

It should hopefully get better soon! I was lucky and didn't have pain. But the fever I got around day 10 had me in my head for sure.
  15. We wondered the same thing, as drinking protein shakes in between our puree meals (2 oz), like suggested, were putting us higher calories (800). Our NUT never responded to neither of us. So we never got an answer. 19 days post op...still losing tho.

    Protein Powder

I am only day 15 post op, so I have only tried Isopure Unflavored and added it to broths etc. I live on the premier protein!
  17. I went from being super constipated to having diarrhea the next day. body is still making adjustments. Hopefully you find something that helps!

    Reaching protein goal.

Are you still supplementing with protein shakes? Or even still adding unflavored protein powder to drinks/food?
  19. Been having a low grade fever since Saturday. 100.8 was my high. Can't see my surgeon as I did it in Mexico. However he is quick to respond to messages. I am allergic to Tylenol so I am having to take Ibup. He has me taking 600mg every 8 hours. Fever is under control at that point, but it has been 3 days. I have an appt with my Dr tomorrow. No pain or swelling or anything like that, so hopefully it is something that isn't a complication. That scares me the worst! Will ask the Dr for ABX tomorrow, and hopefully he won't trash me for going to Mexico for surgery. Surgery was 8/15.

  22. I had the same problem this morning...pretty backed up. Bought colace to start tomorrow. My friend used ducolax every morning and she hasn't had an issue since.
