When did the eating pains/esophagal spasms(?) stop for you?
Trisha95650 replied to Penguin733's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad to know I’m not alone in this feeling. I am 3 weeks post-op tomorrow and honestly wish I would have taken more time off from work. I don’t like the sick, foamy, feeling while trying to work. I don’t tolerate chicken breast very well. Eggs are usually ok but I can only eat one. Currently, deli sliced lunch meat is the best I can do for food. My doctor sent the portion of stomach that was removed off to pathology, and it turns out I have H. Pylori. On top of all the foamies, I have to take two nasty antibiotics, pepto, and omeprazole for two weeks which further adds to the foamies. I do not enjoy eating either at this point. I’m sure that will change with time. I’m down 18 lbs. in three weeks so that is a plus. -
24 hours after surgery - pain and difficulty drinking
Trisha95650 replied to Fjallagras's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you doing any better? I took liquid acetaminophen I got from Amazon and the hospital gave me liquid gabapentin. I only needed the pain meds for 4 days. I wore an abdominal binder until yesterday, so for about a week. That helped tremendously. I had a hard time drinking liquid. I would take a few sips and set a timer for 15 minutes. Then, I tried 12 minutes. That seemed tolerable. I’m now at probably 2-3 oz every 15 minutes but I haven’t been timing it. Chicken broth with unflavored protein powder mixed in is my favorite “meal” right now. Between that and two or so protein shakes, I’ve been able to keep up on my liquid and protein intake. It’s been a challenge to learn this new way of life, but it seems to be going well. I too had regrets after the surgery, but I don’t any longer. This is a life saving procedure for me, and I’m determined to be successful. -

Seriously! I thought there was something wrong with me, too! I have been cold since my surgery in 8/17. Glad to know I’m not the only one. -
I had my surgery on 8/17 and was not nervous. I did get anxious after I got home but I still had anesthesia-head, so it has gone away. I took pain medication for the first 4 days but I’m on day 3 without. My doctor gave me liquid acetaminophen (cheaper on Amazon) and liquid gabapentin. Of the 5 incisions, only two are still sore, so I continue wearing my abdominal binder. That has been a real lifesaver. Good luck to you on your journey. You got this!

For those of you who have gotten the sleeve do you wish you had gotten the bypass?
Trisha95650 replied to Tinkerbell1991's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also choose the sleeve because I didn’t want to reroute my intestines and have the possibility of malnutrition. It’s been 6 days since my surgery and I haven’t had any issues with GERD, although I’m not eating solid food yet. So far, I am pleased with my decision. -

I had my surgery on August 17. I didn’t have to do a 10 day liquid pre-surgery diet, thankfully. However, I sure miss food. I’m hungry all the time.
