Hello Susan, Congratulations! First things first...men have different metabolism(s) from women so don't put your self on the road to comparison in the weight loss category. As far as the discomforts...When does it occur? Is it constant? Is it relieved by change of position? I had a large esophogeal hernia repaired as a part of my surgery and I swear it made my life a little more miserable than the average bear. It took me longer to get the sipping/swallowing mechanism back in check and even now (I was banded on 9/22/08) I get pains of discomfort in my chest and right side if I swallow too much fluids at any one time. It is going to be a personal journey for everyone. I frequent another board that is a bit smaller than this one and the story is the same in that everyones experience is totally different. Some people lose lots of weight in the short term other take a little more time but patience is the key. Do you have to/Have you returned to work yet? I find that the more active I am the better I feel everyday. My biggest issue right now is this port. And I am sure that in time the site will be less sensitive and all will be well in the band world. 1dirextor@gmail.com if you wanna dialog about this some more.

I had my surgery on Sept 22. I got back to work on October 6. For me, I knew that recovery would take a minute. It's just one of the caveats of age I guess.

Gawd bless every one of you that went back to work within a week of surgery. I am 44 years old and knew ahead of time that my spring had been sprung long time ago. I asked for two weeks and right about now I am contemplating 3 LOL! I do go back on Oct. 6 though. Right into an installation and training class. I think I will be making the engineers quite angry cause homie is not crawling around a rack on Monday. -
I had surgery last Monday. The last thing on my mind is a bikini. Hell, I've never worn one, but I digress. My surgeon did a fab job at closing the incisions. I have nursed my steri-strips to avoid any movement of the incision site. Looks like they won't even be noticable in the coming year.

Not me. I was too busy trying to grasp the concept of sipping and walking and sleeping and sipping sugar, then Water, then sugar and breathing so I didn't get blood clots and all that other malarkey...
