sunsett...that is wonderful!!!! I was banded on Feb 2, 2009 by Dr V. I am so excited to find someone else that is seeing him and has done so well. If you remember way back 2 years ago, I am just beginning so the going is slow and tedious. I live in Fleetwood,, east of Boone so I attend a support group in Boone. Best of luck although you don't need it. If you have any advice for me this new in the procedure please tell me. Thanks... Denise

:rolleyes2:Hi...I am from Boone NC and do not have a surgery date. I have attended the educational classes and have finished all the medical requirements. I will meet with the nutr/exer/psych on 11/3 and will have jumped through all the hoops. I am now practicing the after surgery eating and having trouble eating enough protein. I also am practicing the 30 minute rule which is no liquid 30 minutes before and after your meal and not during the meal. This is really tough. Any suggestions for these obstacles???

I am having no chewing 30 times, just not being able to drink with and after meals. As far as exercising, I am a homemaker and have plenty of time but just not motivated. I just feel like I have gone through all of this training and medical tests and still have to wait to see if my insurance will approve. I think I will feel alot more motivated after I get my surgery date. Why did you have to meet with your social worker more than once?

restless...I am denise from boone, nc. very interesting reading your reply for several reasons. i am going to my first dr visit tomorrow. i have attended the seminar and i have tricare insurance. we are retired military and i wondered how difficult tricare was to deal with. also, i am flying to san antonio 10/23 to visit my longtiime friend. your attitude is great!!! what is a fatty liver. i had one person on this sight say the pre-op diet was to shrink your liver and that was really interesting to my husband and i. i would appreciate your conversing with me via this sight or email. look forward to hearing from you. restless monkey!?!?! i always say i have monkey brain!!! -
That sounds like a plan!!! My husband and I are taking our motor home to Charlotte on Oct 11 for the race and everyone is planning the menu. I will not have the procedure done by then but hope to be on some kind of plan with the surgeon starting a weight loss. Sounds like you are doing great after surgery, especially when you only had this done 8/28!!!! I am excited and so ready to get onto a program!! Thanks for all your responses. Every little bit helps!!!

That was a great game!! How did you survive tailgating. I am a Seminole and we travel to the games. I have not had my surgery yet and am just curious about our future tailgating gatherings.

Mitch....I will meet with the dr, nurse and financial tomorrow in Charlotte. I do not have a date set so what will this visit entail? I do have insurance that will probably approve the surgery but I am just curious what the dr and nurse will be doing with me tomorrow. Thanks for the info you have already sent. I appreciate all bits of advice, etc.

I live in NC around the Boone area. I have my first consult on Tuesday, Sept 16 with Dr Voellinger in Charlotte. I attended the seminar with Southeast Bariatrics on 8/25 and still am a little confused about the process. After the consult, does anyone know what happens from there? I would appreciate any info you can give to take away some of the confusion and anxiety I am having. Thanks.....D:confused_smile:

Yes I had to complete the seminar and obtain my certificate to send in with the application package to the Dr. I have Tricare insurance since we are retired military and they do not require the 6 months.

I am going to Dr Voellinger in Charlotte on Tuesday for my first consult. Can you tell me what happens after that? Do you have a liquid diet for two weeks prior to surgery? I would appreciate any info

I have my first consultation on Tuesday and I am really excited. I am a little confused about the process, i.e., lifestyle management before and after and operation.
