Are we going to start a new one month challange? Lets say Get to onderland or 190 by June 21st. Is anyone in? I am close to 190 but I am struggling so bad and it is driving me nuts. I am going for another fill this coming week. I hope by tuesday. Good luck!

Congrats on giving up the cigarettes! Thats huge! I was at a teleconference with my doc and he was asked about the weight loss before surgery and he told the person as long as they didn't gain anything they should be fine. About the liver, that makes sense I guess it depends on how much you weigh right now. Good luck!

Members Being Banded In March 06
MiaHalliwell replied to vlb11752's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on March 16th. I was wondering where the thread for March was, LOL. I was done by Dr Munshi in Syr, NY. I am almost 9 weeks post op and I have lost 12 lbs. I wish it were more, But I am right on track for what he wants me to lose. -
I can't be the only March bandster here, LOL. Who else has had their surgery in March?
-
Ok, so I am 2 moths post op and I have lost 11 lbs, nothing to sneeze at. I am down to 195 lbs, but after my fill I was down to 191.8. I want to know why the weight had to come back, and I haven't lost. I am definately eating less but I think I can still eat too much. I will be honest and say that when my daughter made her first communion I had tons of left over stuff like rye bread dip and pumpernickle bread. I figured that the bread is better than white bread and the dip is low in carbs, so in small amounts it couldn't hurt. Also, I didn't eat anything else when I ate that for a few hours, And I also am guilty of eating taco dip. I know that my poor choice of foods and lack of excersize is a problem. Tomorrow I plan on making better choices. I refuse to sabbatage myself. I know that I am still within the 1-2 lbs a week, but if I don't start losing soon, I will be at a low, or whatever you want to call it. I was so hoping for this to be a super success and I would lose a ton in the beginning and then expect to stall after a few months of good weight loss. After all this and my port area is still tender. I can feel tenderness with certain movements and it sucks! I can deal with that, but not losing is making me lose my mind! I think I need to look at the food thread and get some good healthy ideas. Ok, I am done ranting. If anyone reads this, thanks for reading my vent

Great job! I can see the difference in you. I think that we have a hard time seeing the changes in ourselves because although it is a change it is a slight change and we still aren't happy. You have made a good size change though. Even if you can't see it, I bet your clothes tell you different. The bathing suit for instance, you can see how it fits better. It looks like it is comfortably around your back and not stretched at all. Great job, you are an inspiration to me, who is at the beginning of my journey and struggling.

I called my doctor's office today and tried to set up my next fill. He told me the day I got my first fill. "In 2 weeks if you feel like the food is still going down too easy, call me and we will get you in the next day." So I called today trying to get in for wednesday and he made me make an appointment at the office for a weigh in and to see his PA. Then he will concider a fill. That just makes me mad. I understand his point, but don't tell me one thing and then do another. Its annoying!

well, I didn't make it and I went backword. I am so bummed out it isn't funny. I am just too lazy to change my ticker.

Way to go Bandayed! Congrats!!! I unfortunately don't think that I will make it to my goal of 190 unless I receive a miracle. My daughter's communion was saturday and I think I retained a lot of water from salty things. Although I couldn't eat very much at one time. I didn't eat a ton but I am thinking that maybe I chose the wrong things. I weighed at night and I know better, but when I weighed sunday I was back to 196 and I was at 191.8. So we will see if I have dropped the water or if I gained for real. I think I am going to have to go for another fill because I can still eat too much at 1 sitting and I am not feeling a lot of restriction. I know what I said earlier about not being able to eat much at my daughter's communion, but I munched here and there. I am so bummed out! Pray for me please, even if I don't make my goal at least maybe I can be back to 191.8 or even 192. Good luck to all of those who are so close, great try to those who just missed it,and congrats to those who reached their goal.

This morning I am 191.8 :clap2: I am so excited!!! 1 more week to get rid of the 1.8lbs to reach my goal. It has been so long since I was at this point. I am excited now imagine how excited I will be with every 10 lb loss I have. To be honest I am excited with every lb I lose, LOL. Congrats to those who have reached their goal of 199, you are truely an inspiration!!! :biggrin1:

I got my first fill on 4/27 and I really didn't feel much restriction. I had 1 cc put into my 4cc band, and he was going to put more in because I couldn't feel it. He opted against it, but I feel that I am able to eat too much. I do stop myself. I don't eat everything on my plate if I think it looks like too much. I try to stop when I am saticfied which is something for me since I am use to finishing everything on my plate. My doc told me that if in 2 weeks I am not feeling any restriction that I can call and get another fill.
-
Sounds like your doc and mine are thinking the same. I don't think I swelled because solids went down just fine, but I think my fill kicked in finally!!!! I am feeling restriction and I am so excited! I appreciate everyone's responses because I do trust him and I did question him based on what I have learned online. He just told me that he is following Inamed's guidelines, so I trust him completely, like someone said, he is the doc for a reason. I was just a little upset when my friend said, "No hes not!" Her doc is more experienced, but like someone else said things are always changing. Thanks again

My doc is new at the lap band thing, but I trust him completely. I was sent home after my surgery and was told that I could be on mushies the next day, and I found that it isn't that way with everyone. Then I found out that every doctor does it differently and that I was ok. I got a fill on thursday and he told me liquids till dinner time and then I could eat just to make sure I followed the rules for eating carefully. I questioned the liquids for 2 days, exc... He says that he is following the Inamed guidelines and that doing that isn't necessary, but my friend who was banded the same day in Florida says that he isn't. Should I be concerned? I am doing what my doc says to do, and I know that there are different ways, but I am so confussed.

Ok, first of all I am going to warn you all that my husband can be a jerk. I was thinking that if I give him an answer that he will leave it alone. I belong to this board, another board that I don't go to very much, I have a message board, I moderate a different message board and I have been asked to run a support group for the band. My husband wants to know if anyone thinks that by me having a message board and being involved in a message board is enabaling people to sit on the computer and not change their activity level. He says that sitting on the computer all day is 1 of the things that possibly caused our obesity problems. He says by creating a message board that people can go on a chat all day defeats the fact that we all need to be active. I don't think I am doing a very good job at getting his point across because I don't agree with him. He was asking me what good is it to have these boards, and I gave him many reasons over and over. I also told him that I was sure that nobody stays on the forums all day long. How much time do you spen on message the internet and what are your thoughts on my husband's question? Myself, I don't agree with him and since I am a very busy person, I spend very short amounts of time online, but when I am in downtime, I can spent a couple of hours online, just like he does at night when everyone else is sleeping. Please don't shoot the messanger, but I wanted to give him his answers. Thanks for your time everyone. Hugs

As soon as I get done with this post. I am in Syracuse, NY and I will be having it done under floro. Wish me luck. I will post again when I get back. I just wanted to burn some time before I left, LOL,

You were right it was anti climactic, LOL. It was cool to watch and I felt the band tighten. He had to poke me twice. He put 1 cc in my 4cc band. I am on full liquids till dinner time. My doc said I can eat a meal for dinner. He was going to put another .5cc but he thought the way the barium hung up in the stomach before it passed down was good for now. Then he said in 2 weeks if things are going down to easily he will get me in for another fill. He has invited me to a meeting for WLS to be a spokes person for the band. This particular meeting will focus on the band. Then I will be getting a band only support group going.

I haven't lost for 2 weeks but I got a 1cc fill today, so we will see next week.

My husband wanted me to ask this.
MiaHalliwell replied to MiaHalliwell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My husband always says this about the house and it isn't as bad as he always makes it out to be. A lot of you were asking if my husband has ever had a weight problem and I can only say that he had a small weight problem but took care of it. He is a body builder so he is heavier than what they say he should be. He only has a small amount to lose in his ab area and he will be back to buff, LOL. I guess he wanted to know if sites like this was enabling a person to sit around on the computer because people enjoy coming here. I don't know he is a pain in the butt. I told him what I wrote because it is basically what he wanted me to ask and I told him that some were offended and some agreed to a point with him. My thought is this most of us come on here for support and usually when we are relaxing. Lately it seems that I can't do anything right. I am trying to start a support group for my area since they just started doing it here and I have my own message board and I don't spend a lot of time on the puter but he thinks so. Thank you all for your wonderful comments. I haven't read each and every one of them yet, but thanks for not shooting the messanger, LOL. -
I had another NSV today. I put on a pair of tan pants that were tight on me before surgery and now they are comfortable. I didn't think a 10 lb loss could feel so good! Here are pics of me at 8 days post op, the swelling at this point was minimal. Also a pic of my at 5 weeks and 2 days. (wearing the shirt mentioned in my last post. Sorry I tried and tried to get the first pic to be the same size as the second but nothing worked. I can see a small difference in my girth.

Seppi, I go for a fill on thursday as well. In my journey to be 190 by the deadline I have hit a small NSV. I bought a shirt at Walmart that was on clearance for $3. I love this shirt, and I couldn't wait to wear it. It is a size 16/18, and it did fit when I bought it, but it looked bad on me. I have big hips and I had a roll in the area of my surgery that I think was there before surgery as well. Anyway, I have put this shirt on 3 or 4 times and taken it off because it didn't look right. This morning however, I tried the shirt again and guess what! It actually looked ok! The roll in my surgery area was significantly smaller! I was so excited that I couldn't wait to come on here and share my NSV. Also, my scale yesterday read 195.6 lbs. I am not going to count it as a lb lost until I see it again, but it was good to see, LOL. Ok, I'm done :biggrin1:

Here I am to throw a wrench in what everyone has said. When I came home I was on mushies right away. I too was hungry because I was afraid to eat. My doc told me that anything I ate had to go into the blender. I say follow what your doc says, but I would call and tell your doc your dilema. The doc may ok you to try mushies, but I wouldn't do it unless ok'd by your doc. Till then a lot of people have made some great suggestions. Good luck to you and hang in there it will not be forever. Hugs

Happy Easter, how did you do with food and candy???
MiaHalliwell posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I did well. I had a party yesterday and the only bad thing I ate was some chips. My friends and I are all trying to lose weight so we tried to keep it as healthy as we could. Easter (today) I had only 1 hurshey's kiss, 1, small bunny that comes in the bunny money mix, and a mini cadbery egg. I didn't know that they came that small, I was excited, LOL. I had ham, mashed potatoes, that I only ate 2 bites of, corn and 2 home made perogies, for dinner. For Breakfast, I had 3 small pieces of keilbase (I spelled that so wrong), 2 small pieces of ham, and 2 cinimon buns. Later on after dinner when people were eating pie, I had taco dip. It is low in carbs, lol. All in all, I would have to say that I am proud of myself. I didn't finish my dinner and I only took small portions at breakfast so I wouldn't throw anything away, that drives my FIL nuts, LOL. I did great in the candy department because I could easily put away a ton of chocolate, and I stayed away from desert :biggrin1: . How did everyone else do???
