What did you wear on surgery day?
MiaHalliwell replied to lisah25's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I bought an awesome Tinkerbell pj set that the pants were a little big on me. The shirt was comfortable but because of the swelling it was a little snugger than I though, LOL. I wore elastic waist pants and a hoodie home and I did wear my bra which I bought brand new, LOL. As soon as I got home I got back into my pj's -
I was the first person banded by my doctor. I had every confidence in him. Remember that doctors being trained have to assist on many before they do one themselves. Also, Inamed usually has representitives with the surgeon the first few times that they do it to make sure that everything goes smoothly. It is natural to be nervous, but don't totally discount the guy because he hasn't done thousands. If he is a sergeon then he knows how the body works and is more than capable of doing more than one type of surgery. He has decieded to broaden his knowledge and that is great for you. Good luck!

I am a nursing student/ student nursing assistant. My job at the hospital allows me to schedule myself for whatever days and hours that I want. Its actually pretty nice I go to school every other weekend fri, sat and sun. I have 3 kids and I was a stay at home mom untill they were all in school full time.

I have been able to do it right along. I have had 2 fills and I will be getting my third next week.

Carol, it isn't a contest. Just something to push yourself to hit the onderland mark. If you haven't hit it yet then please don't drop out. Its great to have you here :biggrin1: . Liz, I feel your pain. Aunt Flo is on her way, but I have been lucky this time, so far anyway. I hope you find the right amount of calories for you. I am sorry that I can't be of more help. I am just plugging along myself as it is. On a happy note for me! I have hit my goal for this month :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Here is the picture to prove it :biggrin1: -

Tricia, thanks! Thats my goal for this month, but that will have me at a 17 lb loss, and that is great, but you know what is going to be a great victory for me... when I finaly hit the 20 lb mark. I might see if I can get a fill soon. Keep up the great work everyone! -

I was a definate 190.0 this morning. 1 more lb till my original goal for this month wooo hooo! -
First of all, Welcome!!! I was banded on march 16th this year. I had a low BMI to start with so my weight loss is a bit slow and yes it is sometimes hard to deal with. I choose the band because of it being adjustable and just much safer. I have had no problems at all! I can eat whatever I want, but I choose to eat what is a better choice out of the things I can eat. I do cave into cravings once in a while and that might explain my slower loss. I am on target with the 1-2 lbs a week and my doctor is happy with my weight loss. As the last person said, with the band you may be able to eat stuff that isn't great for you but you won't be able to eat as much once you find some degree of restriction. I have not hit my "sweet spot" yet but I have had 2 fills and I think I am close. Even though I don't have superb restriction I still have to control how much I eat, and I listen to my body, if I am full I simply put the food down and either save it for another meal or throw what I have left away. No choice is ever easy but you can't yo-yo diet and expect to lose and keep it off. I did that for so long and at one point I went from 190-145 on my own, but then I started eating carbs again and I packed the weight on again. With the band, I have read that others have stopped losing or hit a plateau but they did not gain and that is importaint. Talk with your doctor and make the choice that is best for you. Good luck with your journey!

All I can say is hang in there. I am losing slowly as well. I also feel like I can still eat way too much. If you have a 10 cc band it sometimes takes a few fills before you feel restriction. You have to make smart food choices and excersize. The band is your tool, not a magic cure. You have to work with it to make it work. That is what I have been told. Good luck to you and you made a great choice in coming here to ask for help. Everyone here has been a great sore of strength and support. Hang in there and the loss will come. (((((((Hugs)))))))

I weighed myself monday and it said 189.8, woooohoooo my goal! Before I get too excited, I weighed in yesterday for the thread and I am still stuck at 191. I hope it goes back down quickly. -
I have always been able to feel my port. I was a lower BMI bandster. Mine is in the right upper quadrant close to center. Mine still bothers me, it gets sore easily.

Roni, You look awesome!!! I can't believe how many similarities there are between you and I. When I hit my next goal, I will post before and during pics. Keep up the great work!!!

OMG!!! Was this a waste of money???

I had the same thing happen to me as well. I was able to start on soft foods at 3 weeks because of the hunger. I have had my second fill last thursday and I am feeling restriction and it is great. I was worried like you are, but I too lost a little weight in that stage and it felt great to see the scale go down. Hang in there, remember that with an unfilled band your stomach is almost the same as it was before surgery, so it is to be expected. Good luck! -

I wish I had thought to do that, but I think once I hit 189 I might take one because it has been so hard to do. I have set another goal. I have 5 lbs to go to maintain a 5lb a month loss. I would like to lose more a month but if I can do 5 a month that would make me happy. I have lost 1 lb so I am playing catch up with last month, but thats ok. Good luck everyone! -
Very interesting. Thanks for posting this.

I weighed in yesterday at 192 lbs. I lost 1 lb. I have 3 more to go to get to my goal. I am going for a fill tomorrow so hopefully that will help. -
I will be 10 weeks post op on thursday. I am still having tenderness at my port area and it is annoying. I mentioned it to my doc when I went for my first fill and he said that it would be sore because he was messing with it. The thing is, when I wear jeans the waist band pushes on my port or just below my port making it sore. I can't wear hip hugger jeans because I have way to much hips at this time, lol. The solution is to not wear jeans, but I like to wear jeans and by the way they fit me I can tell that I am losing weight and it is great. I just can't take my port bothering me. It really is only an annoyance, not bad pain, but it is still sore. Does anyone else have this problem? Has anyone elses port bothered them this long after surgery? Thanks in advance.

I will try them. Thanks!

I wish everyone the best of luck. Is anyone doing anything particular to drop the weight? I am increasing my activity, once my allergies stop killing me, LOL. -
This is exactly what happens to me. This is why I was wondering if this bothered others the way it bothers me.

I got a 1 cc fill on thursday 4/27. I didn't really feel any restriction when they were watching it go down under xray, but they said that the liquid was hanging up a little. He was going to add another .5cc if I said that I didn't feel anything, and I really didn't. Then he took me to his office and had me eat 2 small pretzels and those went down easily. I have heard where someone goes for a fill and feels no restriction and then boom they have restriction after a week or 2. Could this possibly happen for me? I have lost a couple of lbs since my fill but I still don't feel full with a small amount of food, and I have absolutely no problem with any kind of food. I haven't tried bread yet, and I am a little nervous to try it, LOL. He said if things are still going down too easily in 2 weeks he would schedule another fill right away. I was just wondering what everyone's take was on this. Does it sound like I will probably need the next fill in 2 weeks?
-
I haven't gone yet. I will know tomorrow when I go. My doc had to order the needles he ran out. I will be done under fluro. They are going to start doing it in the office soon. I can feel a small restriction but I feel that I can still eat too much, so I hope that this next fill will help.

I can't wear Old Navy pants, they don't fit me or my daughter right, lol. It stinks to because I have a credit card for there.

This will be a good thing. The last challenge helped me try to get to 190. I didn't make it, but I have less to go to get to 189, so I am going to kick my butt into gear and excersize more. -
I'll start a new one.
