I can't see why the weight isn't falling off for you. Dang, you certainly are eating very lean and low calorie. Seems unfair. I'm clearly nobody to give advice since I ballooned to nearly 350. I only know for my body and if I hit a stall I have to eat a bigger amount for one day then back down to low calories and it seems to jolt my system into more weight loss. My sister had gastric bypass - lost 85lbs and starved herself on cabbage to get down to the 100lbs loss so she could get her knees replaced. Once replaced and she started eating a normal (for us) diet and gained the 15 lbs back but has maintained her weight for the past 3 years. Th beef gelatin has no flavor, none. I can't eat sugar free jello due to the sweeteners they put in it. Many sweeteners are inflammatory and due to my super bad knees I can't stand any inflammation of that kind. If those products don't bother you then you could do sugar free jello, add some extra unflavored beef protein and have a tasty snack. I should add some foods make me retain water - like any tomato product and any wheat or rice. I've no clue why but if I eat those my feet, ankles and lower legs swell. I've been eating mostly paleo for the past 7 years. Has the Dr given any explanation? Any advice? My dietitian keeps telling me we are losing inches not necessarily pounds. I call BS. All I know is I have 17 more pounds to lose to get new knees. After that I hope to lose another 60 so my hubby can buy me a face lift (he doesn't know it yet) SURPRISE DEAR LOL -

I get your frustration. I gained 5 lbs after Christmas and it just wasn't coming off. Last week I graduated off of Hint water and can now drink any water however I did change my diet. I know this is going to sound weird but it worked for me and I'll be 67 in a few weeks. I eat high protein, no sugar, sweetened with erythritol yogurt then my coffee with a small amount of sweetened flavored creamer and whipping cream. Lunch is usually a protein bar and a cheese stick. Protein bar is sweetened with the erythrirol.. Then the snacking begins - I make jello cubes out of unflavored beef gelatin, monk sugar and allulose, unsweetened kool aid and water. I make it thick and cut into 1/2" cubes. Place a hefty serving into a baggy and I can eat as many as I want. I snack from 3 til 8 on jello cubes, not non stop but maybe 3 baggies worth. I too was hungry all the time until I started eating the jello cubes. IDK why it works but in 5 days I lost 6 lbs. I pee non stop but that's ok with me. My jello cubes are about 35 calories a baggy but it's all protein and if you take a tryptophan with it it becomes a complete protein plus its tons of collagen. I've lost a lot of hair the past 6 weeks so trying to fight that. My surgery was 8/14 and so far I've lost 91 pounds (lost 45 before my surgery). I need new knees something awful so highly motivated. 17 lbs to go. I did join the gym 2 weeks ago in preparation for the new knees. Gotta get these old legs strong again. I hope things break for you soon. -

I too have had a fair amount of nausea and the thought of eating meat yuck. I did find a great way to get my protein and collagen. I make jello cubes with unflavored beef gelatin (all protein and collagen) water, unsweetened kool-aid packets, monk sugar and allulose. Chill then cut into cubes. Makes a fantastic snack plus it turns into a liquid. I've lost 4 lbs in 5 days where I was stuck, not losing and struggling to get my protein and water in. Not anymore. I'm hoping my hair stops falling out soon with the added collagen. We all need to find what works for us. I'm so glad I finally found a way as I'm working to get new knees. 17 lbs away from qualifying. Best of luck to you -

I had a thick head of hair, thankfully, however I've been shedding like mad for the past 6 weeks. (Surgery was mid August). I've been taking all my vitamins and one for hair skin and nails but sure doesn't seem to be working. My dietitian suggested to start taking collagen, she also said my hair loss should stop around 8 months. Unflavored beef gelatin is all collagen so I came up with a recipe for jello cubes and just started that. I'm down 87 lbs. My face has been breaking out something awful and I'm nearly 67. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I wish everyone great success. -

I'm down 78.8 however 45 lbs I lost before surgery. I've been averaging 2 - 3 lbs a week up until this week. My fault cause I've been eating too many carbs. Back on track after Thanksgiving -

I too had a stall (RNY) and was shocked because my food consumption was almost nothing. I checked with the surgery NP and was told this is quite common because my body was focused on healing not losing weight at this point. Once I started eating more and after about 5 weeks post surgery I started losing ~ 2 lbs a week. Seems slow but I'll take it. I Just keep plugging along and we will get there. I was so hoping for new knees by Christmas but at this rate (I still have 40 lbs to lose to be at required BMI) I guess it'll be by early Spring, hopefully. -
That looks really good

Mine hurt like mad when I was drinking things with Stevia in it. Looked up the side effects of stevia and leg cramps. Quit using it and legs feel so much better. Just my experience.

Hi Penny, How's the thyroid doing? I read your post seems you're having issues with getting proper help. The place I got my surgery is pretty much no help at all. I have a monthly appointment and all they seem to want out of me is raving reviews. I'll review once I'm completely done with them. Sure hope you can get the help you need. Crafts - Currently I'm prepping for a craft show end of Nov. I've been making lightbulb ornaments for the $5 gifts and I'm making some really neat clay and decoupage ornaments that will be more expensive. I'll also make the string trees. Haven't finalized my to do list yet. Still struggling to feel good and not sick at my stomach all the time. How many weeks were you when you were able to eat regular food? The thought of anymore pureed is disgusting to me. Hope you get some good results soon. TTYL Peggy -

I had to do injections for 2 weeks and bailed after 10 days. I feel sorry for you. For the first week or so my belly was so swollen I couldn't ever feel the shots, but soon after they started burning and ouch. -
Surgery was 8/14/23. Been on pureed diet per instructions since 8/20. Followed the diet completely however starting last week I'm constantly feeling sick to my stomach making it hard to eat. Some days I can't eat at all where other days I may only get 2 tiny feedings in. I can't stomach plain water anymore either when I used to only drink water aside from my one cup of coffee a day before surgery. If I can't eat my 5-6 feedings a day, 3 meals 2-3 snacks) I won't lose weight but the thought of food is yuck. Anyone else have this issue and able to resolve it?

It was a recipe recommended by the dietitian and in the plan. I started at 348 and am down to 295. I was 303 day of surgery. I'm also 66 yrs old and at that age everything moves slower. I'm following my plan 100% with reco food items but can't eat as much as I'm supposed to. Eating 6 times a day via pureed or protein drinks is a struggle. All I can manage is 2 Protein drinks and 1.5 meals whether chicken salad puree or tiny meatballs with spag sauce puree plus 48 on H2O. I'm day 15 post op and keep improving everyday. I can't wait to see 210 - I'll get there sooner or later. Wishing you great success! -

Hi Penny, I ended up with low potassium after surgery and had to stay in the hospital on those awful beds and few extra days and then told to go see my primary care doc, who is great. Love my PCP. Eating is hard - just had chicken salad puree for lunch - it's all I can do to stomach it. Kind of gross. I hope you can get your thyroid under control and soon. I would think it would play a big part in weight loss. I only feel better when I drink my protein shakes otherwise I have no brain function nor energy. I actually felt good yesterday with extra energy, I was shocked. Today I'm a bit laggy because for whatever reason I'm not longer getting past 5 or 6 hours of sleep at night. I'm lucky because at 66, I'm retired and my hubby is very neat so there isn't much demand on me. I am trying to get back into crafting but that's hardly demanding lol. I have a end of Nov show to build stock for. I can take my time. Wishing you well and not to hard of days at work. Just think a year from now we'll be a lot smaller and for me new knees!!! -

I think I misspoke, I did lose 3 lbs week one (plus the 6 lbs of water weight from 4 days of IV fluids) and 5 lbs week 2 in total 14 lbs but really I shouldn't count the water so 8lbs. My sister reminded me this very morning that an 8 lb loss in 2 weeks is amazing. I always want to hurry up and wait. As for the meatball recipe it was 1 of 4 recommended recipes except I added the ricotta trying to get my protein up. I'm supposed to be eating 5 to 6 servings of 2 oz of meat a day and I can't seem to get past 1 1/2. So far I can do one meal and 2 protein shakes or visa versa. I fear my metabolism will stall if I can't get more in but for now it's day by day. I appreciate the input though. Everyone is so helpful in this group and I'm loving it. -
I'm pretty concerned about saggy skin. I've lost 55 lbs and my arms and breast have become deflated. Not a pretty sight. I have a lot of weight to lose still. I figured I better join a gym once healed and at least I'm older and nobody is trying to date me these days...thankfully. If I stay on course and lose all the weight I intend to I think I'll have to get the skin reduction surgery. I'd rather not but lets face it, at my age nothing goes back. My face has slowly been sliding down for the past 10 years. I often wonder if it ever stops. LOL All kidding aside - at least we'll look great in clothes.

I'm almost 2 weeks post surgery. I'm feeling much better and starting to tolerate food somewhat. I managed to find a protein powder made with stevia and none of the sucralose which throws my joints into chaos. As long as I drink my protein 3 times a day I'll feel alive the following day. Yesterday I ate something besides mashed potato's. Meatballs, spag sauce, ricotta and parm cheese all pureed into runny much. It was delish. Could only get 1/4 cup down at 10am and I stayed full the rest of the day. Tried to force another "feeding" in at 3pm and managed to bloat. Maybe ate 1/8 cup and had to quit. I hate the bloating. Burping seems a luxury these days. I have 2 more weeks of the puree stage. Weight loss is super slow at this point. I know that'll get better too especially as I can increase my "feedings". I look forward to a new life with new knees (I'm already halfway to new knees YAY). -
I'm 9 days post op. Was cleared to eat puree food yesterday. Ate about 2 TBL of egg salad and I was so bloated the rest of the day. I'm apprehensive to eat today. Anyone know how long it takes to get your strength back? I feel like a blob. What makes this challenging is I cannot have artificial sweeteners like sucralose, aspartame, saccharin, as they are all inflammatory and I have arthritis in my hands, feet and knees. Hard to find protein drinks. My daughter was able to find some last night and it will arrive sometime Wednesday. Anyone else having these challenges? How long until I start to get energy back and brain function? Anyone else find it hard to eat? Any advise will be greatly appreciated. I should add I'm 66 yrs old. Thanks everyone Peggy

You've given me some hope. I managed to find some protein powder thats made with stevia and not the joint inflaming aspertame or sucralose. Cost an arm and a leg but I'm at least starting to feel better. Nana naps 3 times a day for me but today I've decided to get my butt out of the recliner and make some crafts. It's only 6 am so we'll see how that goes. Can't wait to drop this weight and watch my grandson play some football. -

I know the feeling well. I was so hungry the 5 days before I was given the OK to eat pureed food, then I made egg salad, eggs mayo mustard, it was ok but gave me terrible bloating. Never touched it again. Been eating instant mashed potatoes and protein drinks. I'm so hungry for real food. Wish I had a good understanding of what exactly I'm to do to make pureed chicken. Sounds very dry and ick to me. -

Had mine on Aug 14th. Was on my "liquid" diet which was anything but liquid for 4 weeks. They called it the liver shrink and was basically 500 calories worth of salt free canned green beans, 6 oz canned chicken, 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese and 1/2 cup beef gelatin jello. I dropped 25 lbs on it. Now I'm 12 days post op and started the puree diet 4 days ago. I've mainly been drinking protein drinks and eating instant mashed potatoes 1/4 cup at a time for a daily total of 3/4 cups. I know that's not right but eggs made me sick and I've not been to the store yet for chicken. Not sure what I'm supposed to be doing really but I've dropped another 6 lbs since surgery. I think I'll get some baby food if I can find it without sugar or natural sugar. I've no clue how to puree chicken or turkey. I'm pretty lost in all of this. Looking forward to getting brain function (I made myself a cup of tea with monk sugar, drank nearly all of it and when I went to wash the thermos I realized I forget to add the tea bag) SMH, and energy back. Tummy feels fine now, swelling is mostly gone. How are you doing now? You're just a day behind me. -
