For the first time in years, I'm under 200 pounds. Woo hoo. Lost 34 pounds pre-op and now 24 post-op. Surgery was on October 2nd. Weight loss has been slower than I expected, but my nutritionist said that I have lost 48% of my excess weight and am right on track. Yay!

Thank you so much for your response. It could be head hunger. I'll have to pay attention to the difference between head hunger and real hunger.

I had my VSG on October 2nd. I started real food this past Monday. I'm losing an average of 3 pounds per week. My problem is that not only am I hungry, I seem to be able to eat more than what I should be. It feels like I still have my entire stomach. Anyone else experiencing this? My surgeon says I'm doing great, but I'm not so sure.

I was told there was one. So far it's true for me.

Hi there. It sounds like you're doing well. As for me, I'm 60, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed 223 at time of surgery. I have only lost 12 pounds so far and am at the dreaded 3 week stall. I just have to be more patient.

Post op pain wasn't too bad. I still have one spot that bothers me. I haven't resumed all of my normal activities yet, but I'm getting stronger.

I'm 10 days out from surgery. The only complaint I have is that I'm still really really tired. I'm usually a side sleeper, so sleeping on my back has been challenging. I'm looking forward to going to pureed food soon.

How is everyone doing? I'm feeling pretty crappy, but today is better than yesterday. I haven't been meeting my protein or fluid goals, but I'm really trying hard. I am feeling run down, but I think that's normal. Hoping I feel stronger soon.

Tomorrow is my big day. I have to report to the hospital at 8 for a 10 a.m. surgery. I have had a lot of surgeries, so I'm not particularly worried about going under or anything. I worry about pain management and the 6 weeks after surgery and sticking to it. I have to remind myself that this is a tool for me to use and that I need to very conscious of what I'm eating. Had my final pre-op appointment with my surgeon today. He gave me all of my instructions, a list of meds he called in, soap to wash with and all of my appointments for the next 6 months. One week to go!

I'm on say 7 of my pre-op diet, but I struggle with not having soda. I catch myself reaching for one in the fridge and have to remind myself that my soda days are behind me.

I just turned 60 and am scheduled for VSG on October 2nd. My BMI is 40, so I'm expecting a slower rate of weight loss. Maybe I'll be surprised and will lose weight faster than I expect.

I just started my pre-op diet today. I'm very fortunate and feeling very thankful that in addition to liquids, I get to eat 7 ounces of protein a day. Two weeks to go until my surgery.
