So if you have had issues with flatulence since the lap band surgery and you know what the medical reason for it is, please share. I'm just wondering why I am having so much now, it has been 2 1/2 months since surgery. Thank you!

anyone else had major constipation to the point of being in the restroom for up to 6 hrs a night since being banded? if so, has anything helped you besides otc laxatives and meds? my dietician says it's from not getting in enough water. she has told me she wants me to limit vegetables, fruit and the only fiber i can get is a little fiber one cereal with a yogurt at night. she tells me not to have any kind of bread including whole wheat. i've read that alot of people on here eat a variety of foods but my dr's office and dietician aren't as flexible. i told my husband i'm not taking my food journal next time i go and i may try to eat whole grain items till i see that i'm not losing more weight. is everyone else's dietician so strict? 'cause i've read a few threads on here that others eat whatever they want, just in moderation. any responses are appreciated.

mango24, thanks for the quick reply. i have put miralax in my drinks but didn't result in any movement. when you use metamucil everyday, how often do you go? i usually go about every 4 or so days and then it's like concrete. i have used enemas the last couple of times but the only thing that shoved it through, painfully i might add, is milk of magnesia. sorry, it's tmi! -
I HEAR SO MUCH ABOUT OBESE PEOPLE BEING MOSTLY EMOTIONAL EATERS BUT DOES ANYONE ELSE JUST SEEM TO LOVE THE TASTE OF food? I HAD SURGERY ABOUT 5 WEEKS AGO AND FIND MYSELF STILL WANTING JUST TO WOLF DOWN FOOD JUST TO HAVE A MOUTHFUL OF FLAVOR. I THINK I'M JUST OBSESSED WITH FOOD. PLEASE TELL MY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO IS OBESE BECAUSE OF THE TASTE OF FOOD. I JUST WONDER WHAT TO DO TO GET OVER THE OBSESSION. HAS ANYONE EVER HAD COUNSELING WITH THE LAP BAND EXPERIENCE? I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH IT. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

thank you all so much for the replies. i know that we would not need weight loss surgery if we didn't like to eat but i sometimes wonder if i made the right choice. i see that alot of the replies came from ladies that have been successful at this journey so i wanted to ask another question. do you feel like it is your willpower that is helping the weight loss? i still feel like it is a diet 'cause i've had one restriction and feel hungrier now than i did before it.i thought this was supposed to be the end of "diets" that don't work. :smile2:

I have noticed alot of the recipes on here have alot of ingredients that aren't in the average kitchen. I hate wasting food and that seems alot of what i do when i experiment with new recipes. Does anyone have recipes that with ingredients that can be used in multiple recipes and not be a waste of money. Also, i tried a recipe on here 'cause i've read that tilapia fish is a mild fish but found it absolutely repulsive! I would love to eat fish but i'm not sure if i want to continue wasting money since i've tried a few different kinds. Any ideas?

Do I need someone to spend the night after surgery?
MEJONES replied to I'm With The Band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband had to sign papers when i was being released that he was responsible for me. Also, my lap band experience hasn't been as easy as most on this board. I had a slight complication during surgery, the surgeon couldn't get my bleeding to stop when they closed me up so they had to sew onto my muscle all around the incision. I was in extreme pain so i had to stay in the recovery room and the hospital way longer than expected. I came out of surgery around 3:00 and didn't go home till around 7:00. My doctor told me i was going to be hurting more than normal for a while. My husband had to take the next day off from work 'cause i couldn't get up by myself and i needed alot of help. I don't know what i would have done without him! It has taken me exactly 1 month to not have alot of pain when bending over. So you never know if you may not be as lucky as others. Don't mean to scare you, just saying that it is always better to be prepared. Just wanted to give a different view for you to consider. Good luck! -
thanks for all the replies!

anyone else have problems removing the glue from around your incisions? i can't seem to get the glue off and i had surgery 3 weeks ago! how did you get yours off?
-
I will try the pencil eraser, thanks for the tip. I have tried alcohol, soap, shampoo, body scrub, body wash and my fingernails with no luck. To the other reply, I guess my question was too vague. I took my strips off but I was referring to the glue residue that was left behind. Sorry about that, I guess I thought everyone should know what I was thinking.lol:cursing:

HELLO EVERYONE, I HOPE I'M DOING THIS RIGHT! I HAD MY LAP BAND SURGERY ONE WEEK AGO ON SEPT 3. IT WAS NOWHERE AS EASY AS LAPARSCOPIC GALL BLADDER SURGERY LIKE SOME COMPARED IT TO. I THOUGHT I HAD A DECENT PAIN TOLERANCE UNTIL THIS PROCEDURE BUT I'M SOME BETTER NOW. DON'T WANT TO SCARE ANYONE WHO'S CONTEMPLATING THE SURGERY SINCE I'M HOPING IT WILL BE WORTH IT ONE DAY!

THERE WERE A FEW FACTORS THAT ADDED TO MY PAIN, I GUESS. MY SURGEON HAD TO STITCH ONE OF MY INCISIONS INTERNALLY 'CAUSE IT KEPT SEEPING BLOOD AND COULDN'T GET IT TO STOP. THIS CAUSED A BIG DENT IN MY STOMACH AND IT STILL HURTS THERE WHICH MY DR SAID IS NORMAL. AS IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH I STARTED MY MONTHLY CYCLE A FEW DAYS INTO RECOVERING AND THEN HAD AN EXTREME CASE OF CONSTIPATION ON DAY 7. I AM FEELING BETTER EACH DAY SO HOPEFULLY WILL BE ALOT BETTER SOON.
