working out hard and eating right with no weight lost
ksill18 replied to Aries32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seeing that you were banded on 1/07/2009 I would be careful. I was told not to do anything for 6 weeks after surgery. You also have to realize that you have lost weight and your band is now looser around your stomach. Once you have a fill in the next couple of weeks your hard work will pay off. Also muscle weighs more than fat....i have lost weight but I also cut my body fat % by 10% which is huge in 9 weeks after surgery. I am down 44 lbs and got banded on 12/3/08. Stay positive and you'll be fine. -
my advice is try and find a facility that has a good support group. Mine has a psychologist and nutritionist that i meet with every month. You will find that once you get the band your hunger is suppressed.

i just got back from my first fill just now. the doctor did the first fill under radiology. it was so freaking weird...i had to drink barium and he got the fill just perfect.....i will be on full liquids for the next 3 days....already my first couple sips i notice a huge difference in restriction....this is really starting to set in haha.

I can only speak from my own expieriences but i always said oh I can diet and lose the weight.....i'm not fat....then the lbs kept creeping up and up. I went to a weightloss seminar just out of boredom and I am glad I did. I chose the band because I needed help. This isnt some magic tool that melts the fat away. I am 8 weeks post surgery and down 44 lbs. You have to work WITH the band, have healthy food choices and follow the plan. I sure hope you chose the band because doing it alone failed for me time and time again. I am down to 259 and I havent been that low since college 10 years ago. I turn 32 this year and I am healthier and can run around with my 3 kids without getting tired or winded. This has given me my life back. I am on pace to be at my goal by July just in time for a family reunion in Disneyworld and I can not wait to get there. I wish you the best of luck and hope you make the best decision for you!

I am a 1% milk junkie now...haha

wow that sounds interesting. no real change in addictions except for being addicted to making sure I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day, not drinking before, during or after meals. I sure hope I can avoid what your going through. I wish you the best.

you probably did too much too soon. I was told not to do anything until 6 weeks post op. I hope all is well with you.

i wonder how much your liver actually shrinks during pre-op diet....

now with all the weightloss I am going to have....my wife and I were throwing around the idea.....anyone ever have one? how did it all come about? just curious....

do you wait 30 mins after a meal to drink? I never had that foaming ever. Congrats on getting meds cut down. i hope you get rid of them and well on your way to a better med free life.

no no no....someone has given you the wrong info. They look at your BMI now. They want your weight history to make sure that you didnt gain weight recently. I have Aetna and went through the same process (my surgery was December 3rd 2008). You just have to supply weight history for past 3 years and they only look at your BMI now. Also you may want to ask your doctor if a sleep study will help you. I went for one and had sleep apnea(didnt know I did) and that was my co-morbidity.

at my seminar they were steering everyone towards the bypass, when i had my 1 on 1 consult with surgeon he said he would not do bypass on me since my BMI was only 40. He said I would lose a ton of muscle mass and would look way too skinny. I am very happy with the band so far can have my first fill in 3 weeks.

ok do you want it candy coated or the real deal? #1 wii fit is not exercising. you have to walk walk walk...when your get up to it Jog or run. Also strength training is also key. the more muscle you build the more fat your will burn. Also get a food scale, measure out 3 oz of meat and only eat healthy stuff. If your still going to mcdonalds or fast food joints then the band will fail. also dont drink 30 mins prior to, during or 30 mins after a meal. make sure you are getting your 8 glasses of chilled Water a day. Go for checkups every 6 weeks, if a fill is needed then get it done, your doctor will know. Also BE HONEST with your doctor!!! Do this and you too will see results. I wish you luck

my oh god moment was tracking what i spend on fast food over a period of 2 months and seeing that I averaged over $120 a month in fast food on me alone. I was killing myself and i was not going to see my kids grow up. I was banded on 12/3/08 and to date i have lost 30 lbs. I have about 70 more to go and I am getting healthier by the day. I am glad I got the band and do not regret the decision i made.

your husband is insecure and feels that when you lose all the weight you are going to want to move on and get someone else. you need to reassure him that you love him whether you are fat or skinny. If he still feels he needs to sabatoge you then i feel a divorce is in your future. Sad to say. You should go see a psychologist or a marriage councelor about this. -
love it. isnt life wonderful when you can just be free and not worry about what other people think.

I almost put this in the pre-op lap-band section. This morning I got my surgery done and it went very smooth. Checked in to hospital at 5:30AM and left at 11:30AM. Now that I am home I am pretty scared. Every little pain here and there makes me worry that I am doing something wrong. I am drinking 1oz of water every 20 mins as instruted. I had some soft sugar-free jello and it took me like 30 mins to eat a very small portion. Just want to make sure i am not doing anything wrong. Well thats my journey so far in bandland. Talk soon.

I had that moment.....it just clicked
ksill18 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last night after stuffing myself with Turkey and resting watching TV late I had "that moment". it was like something came over me. I start my pre-op diet today as my surgery is 12/3. But what came over me last night was that I was at peace with food. It was kind of weird but I knew my journey was starting and my old way of eating and being fat was going away. But i physically felt at peace and calm about this. I had "that moment". Does anyone know what I am talking about? Or is it just me being weird?
