  1. I am a little over 6 months post op, how many calories are you eating now? I am getting about 900-1000 calories, 80g of protein, 50g of carbs. Anyone else have a starting weight at 360ish at 5'9", how much did you lose at 6 months? My surgeon doesn't offer an aftercare support team and the nutritionist (had to get a referral from my primary) that I am seeing doesn't like giving numbers. I also don't feel I can ask him as he will just refer to the paperwork he gave me at the start, which just says under 1200 calories and 60-80g of protein. I am very happy with the weight that I have lost so far, 100lbs since surgery, but it has been very slow the last 2 months or so. I still feel that I should be losing at a faster rate than I am which is only about 1-2lbs a week. Is this just an average weight loss when I weigh 263lbs at 5' 9", haven't been down to this weight in over 15 years.

    Tortillas

I had one around that time and it was fine. If you are worried just have a bite and see how it sits in your stomach.

How to get all my protein in?

Finally got another referral to a dietician as my Surgeon doesn't offer a dietician after surgery, but couldn't get an appointment to see her until Oct. 19th. Really not happy with my aftercare after this surgery. If I had known that after surgery I would basically be on my own, I would have chosen another Doctor. I am happy that I didn't have to do the long process to get surgery and that it went fine and so far no complications but otherwise the Doctor sucks. I am still basically eating only turkey or chicken and trying to get in a little bit of vegetables, I am supplementing with a green powder drink in the morning. Eating has lost all enjoyment now and I know that I can't do this long term as it's not healthy to only eat protein. I am just waiting until my appointment to change what I am eating now.

How to get all my protein in?

That would have to count as my meal. I would drink a protein shake if I was allowed. For right now, I’m just stuck with eating a chunk of meat until I can eat more.
  5. Just had my second follow up with my Dr. (who I'm not very impressed with anymore) and would like some help figuring out how to get all my protein needs in. I am supposed to get 80g a day but only eat 3 times a day 5 hours apart, no snacks, and I can only physically eat 4oz at a time Not allowed cheese or protein shakes, I don't really like yogurt. No added carbs that aren't already in food ( which isn't that big of a problem). I am also supposed to be adding vegetables in but don't see how I can eat vegetables and get my protein. I just requested a meeting with a dietician and hope they can help. Just a little discouraged after my appointment and needed to vent.

What stage of food are you on? I loved a enchilada/bean dip during the pureed/soft phase, the ricotta bake and just made a chicken and cauliflower "mac" and cheese casserole. I made most of these without meat in the pureed phase and just added ground turkey when I moved to the soft food stage. I found egg white wraps and made a roll up with those for lunch with tuna or ham. and breakfast has been scramble eggs. Adding more variety to them the further I move in my stages.
  7. I am 1 month post op from Gastric Sleeve and am wondering what time everyone gets started eating and drinking water? I am on the soft foods stage and getting about 50-60g of protein in a day and 64oz of water. I really want to start adding in a protein coffee but think I need to get up earlier in the day or use that as my breakfast meal. Can anyone share the meal schedules with me?

    July 2023 buddies

I had VSG on July 6. Haven't had any issues getting my water or protein shakes down. My dr has me on a clear liquid and protein shakes until tomorrow and then I can move to the full liquid diet. So ready for a thicker substance. My only issue is that my largest incision hurts when I move certain ways (mostly bending), Is anyone else still having incision pain?
