Hi mmm i have had five fills to date Unfortunately like flirtylass i have had to do it all the hard way without any restriction. We are the unlucky ones that will need there bands filled up to the max before we get right restriction. Some folk will get it after 2 or 3 fills which i would of loved but i dare say if i did not have the band in i would not have lost as much. Ye flirty soup is great:thumbup:. And you know me im sitting here with my special liquids that realy fill me up.lol -

Hi all welcome and good luck to all the newbes who have surgery coming up you wont regret getting it done. I had my weigh in today and fill and im down 9lb this month so well pleased with that .I had a bowl of home made soup blended down tonight to test the restriction and there does not seem to be much there but it is early days.I will be able to tell in a few days if this fill is the one. -

Hi mandy i was on the nhs waiting list for two years for the band .I was then told by the surgeon to come back and see him in six months as there was no funding. For me this was the final straw and thats why i booked with dr chris. When i had the op i went to my dr to see if they could provide aftercare .He wrote to the surgeon who was going to do the band on the nhs and he wrote back and said that there was not any funding for aftercare either. But if i wanted to go to him private he would do my fills for £300 each i dont think so.If the doctors in this country were doing the op as cheap as dr chris and giving the same standered of care we would not be going to belgium. So if i was you i would get your op from dr chris and get your fills from him or wls group who do a package for fills and not for £300 each.x -

Hi all i just thought i would give yous an up date after my fill on tue.I have some restriction I think. I had poridge for breaky that went down no problems.I had weight watchers chicken curry for lunch that went down ok but after i had finnished i got a tight feeling in my chest. And for dinner i had chicken peas carrots and potato on a tea plate and that went down ok.Same thing as my lunch a tight feeling after i had finnished.I could not have eaten any more if you put it down to me as it felt uncomfortable so i dont know if this is restriction.Has anybody that has restriction had the feeling of tightness in the chest .It feels as if the bands getting steched. Its not the same feeling as getting stuck as i have had that plenty times. -

Hi gary ye she found it no probs .She said to me do you want it standing up or lying down EHHHH i think i will take it lying down after the near fainting experience,So she asked me to lie on the table and lift my two legs up as this brings the port nearer the skin. She found it straight away and put the 1ml in and sooked it all out to make sure ther was no leaks. So everthing seems fine fingers crossed -

I also have the johnson and johnson band it is a (sagb).I asked him what size it was and Dr chris told me its 14cc but when i checked the white booklet he gave me it says max capacity 11cc.Just check it out to make sure he has not said the same thing to you.The only thing was the bands length is 14cm so i dont know if this is what he meant. -

Yes the first one with her took a little time to find the port .Once she has found it she keeps it in your notes where it is situated so the next time it is easyier to find.Yes it is empty to start with. She will put in about 2-3ml first time and when she does this she will sook it all back out to make sure it has went in and then she squirts it back in. -

Hi gillian thanks for that.Well thats me back and i got 1.25ml in this time thats me got 7.75ml in a 9-11ml band so hopefully in a few days time i will have some restriction.Thats good that you can get it done fortnightly if you want. If it was me i would be going fortnightly untill i had restriction.I am apprehensive every time i go for a fill but realy there is nothing to worry about. My first time i went for my fill with wendy she could not find my port lying down so i had to stand up .She then found it straight away and asked me if i wanted to have a look to see how much was in it .But when i looked down and seen the needle sticking out my belly i nearly fainted the colour totaly drained out of me.lol.This time i got it lying down i was on the table and off agiain inside a minute. She said right thats you i did not even feel the needle going in.I did not even need a plaster as there was no blood at all.All in all it was a bad month for me and i only lost 2lb but she said i have lost body fat and gained muscle. So i will just have to get my head down and do better this month. -

Hi garry yes wendy from wls is realy nice and explains alot to you .I tried twice to get my fills with dr chris in edinburgh once after my op in oct and was told i would need to wait till dec as there was no appointments for nov left and when i had my first fill with him in dec i tried to book for jan only to be told there was no appointments left and i would have to wait till feb.So for me that was the final staw.Flirtylass had told me about wls group and i booked up with them.It is also easyier for traveling as it is only 15 min drive instead of 1 hour going to edinburgh. The package gives you peace of mind to know once you have paid you know you will get the restriction inside the six months. The lady michelle that runs wls group is realy freindly and she will make sure you get booked in for a fill which are once a month at the nuffield next to great western road. And yes they are set dates.Any other questions just ask. -

Anyone in Glasgow been banded on NHS??
bobobaldy replied to xebonyx's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi i live in the glasgow area.I was on the nhs waiting list for two years for the op .I had to go and see a physcologist plus a dietician twice plus had all the blood tests plus a endascope.I went back to see the surgeon and he told me to come back and see him in six months as there was no funding for the op.So after all this i ended up going to belgium and got it done private as there did not seem to me that i was going to get it on the nhs .It seems to be a postcode lottery if you get it in your area.Hope this helps. -
