    Frustrated Dr. Clark Southside Indy??

Hi bioteacher and snereb, yes we need to keep in touch and maybe we can help each other thru this trying time and sure is nice to know that I am not alone in my thoughts and experience. I have decided I am not going to let St Francis get me down and I don't have to play thier silly games. I did some research and found a site called obesity action coalition - Indiana Resources. I Found several support groups around Indy and thought I would do some calling tomorrow. I found out that there is one in Franklin. Closest for the southside of Indy. I want to find out if it is presentations or gain thru experience groups, which is what I am looking for. If ya'll want me to let you know what I find out I will.

    Frustrated Dr. Clark Southside Indy??

hey there bioteacher, I have had some no so good thoughts on St Francis also, not real happy right now it has 4 months since surgery (Nov 19th) I have lost 51 lbs, my big problem is that I went on vacation, ate things I shouldn't have, didn't exercise for 2 weeks and not I am in trouble and dont' know how to get back on track, went to St Francis support group and found out it was more of presentation type of meetings, gee the night I went it was about plastic surgery to make us look better and the next one is on cooking classes, no one to talk to or give advise....I am not sure on how to get back on track, got in real trouble at Dr office because I gained 4 lbs and didn't see him, but seen his assistant and she wouldn't give me a fill.....I was told I had to lose in the next month and go back to St Francis to talk with Dietician.....felt really bad when I left Dr office, sat in parking lot and cried. I lost 51 lbs in 4 months and when I seen Dr Clark last month was told I was above average and doing good, this month told how lousy I was and had bad habit and needed to get it under control, gee is lesson not to tell the truth that I feel off the "band wagon" on vacation. I am not a fan of St Francis, no one calls you back and are really short with you when you ask questions. Am dissapointed in after surgery care. I am trying to find a different a support group, if you find one let me know
  3. Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

  6. congrats on the 50 lb mark, I am glad to hear that there is restriction ahead. I was also banded on Nov 19th. I had my first and have felt no restriction and have been worried. I get my second fill on Feb 3rd and am hoping that I will have restriction. I biggest fear is that I will fall into old habits. When I get discouraged I remember that 40 lbs in two months is an accomplishment. I have been at a plateau for a couple of weeks now and hoping that the fill will help put me back on track.

hey there, I was told I could only walk for 6 weeks, did they tell you could exercise? I miss going to the gym at lunch
  12. hi everyone, congrats to all, I haven't been on much since the surgery, it went great, I decided not to fill pain meds and just take liquid tylenol and it worked, I don't do pain meds to easy, I sleep for hours and out of it. I had surgery on Wed 19th and went back to work on Monday. Worked three days and then off for the holidays. I made it thru the holidays just fine, was so happy, ate cream chicken soup and applesauce and bowed and said thank you when everyone laughed and clapped LOL While everyone ate desserts got a cousin to go for a walk with me. I am up to 1 mile a day on the walking now. Haven't got sick and feeling really lucky after reading some of your post. Tuesday I go to mushies and looking forward to it :cursing:
  13. you may think I am crazy but I have been told to walk, walk, and walk, so day after surgery, I went to mall with my mom and a friend to just get out of the house, I don't sit still very well, I got a shopping cart and pushed it around to hold on to and sit down occasionally, but I walked and was tired when I got home, but I think it has helped with the soreness also. I go outside everyday at least three times and walk, I havent tried the basement stairs yet to do laundy but have had help with that, but I have to do stairs to go up to bed and Ijust do them slowly.
  14. Hi everyone, I had my surgery the 19th, so 4 days into it and having no problems except the gas issue and went yesterday and got gas x. It amazes me how each doctor is different. My surgeon was Steven Clark here in Indianapolis, and one requirement before I left the hospital was I had to be able to eat 2 oz of full liquid items...I chose mashed potatoes and strained cream of chicken soup. Kept them down and shortly thereafter left the hospital. I am on full liquids for 14 days, but it includes oatmeal, scrambled eggs, baby food meat, which isn't bad if you add salt or a little seasoning, yogurt and sugar free applesauce. I find myself forcing myself to eat, I am not hungry either, but then I think the shakes I drink 3 times a day helps also. I will be anxious to go to doctor tomorrow to see how much weight I have lost this first week

Hi everyone, I had my surgery on the 19th and doing good, still sore, but have been making myself go outside and walk, walk and walk more. Yesterday went to the mall and walked. Today, I got out and walked again I am like Keri, I haven't been hungry, but having to drink Protein shakes in between meals to meet requirements and am sure that these help the hunger also.
  16. hey everyone, me back again, I met with my nutritionist and I am also going to be on the two week liquid diet prior to surgery, I will be on vacation in Hawaii two weeks prior to surgery, which I am not having a problem with, I have convinced myself the trip is NOT about the food, but the sightseeing and relaxing. The question I have is about the protien shakes and finding the right ones....any ideas???

Did You Have Sleep Apnea and Not Know it?

I snored also, but I didn't grasp for air either, so when I took the sleep test it showed that I did have sleep apnea. Alot of what you said is what I experienced. I was always tired and also woke up with headaches. In the afternoon I would get sleepy. Doc told me these were all the signs. I was surprised at the outcome of the test. Also I have UHC and I just got approved and having surgery Nov 19th, so good luck and don't give up
  18. My surgery date is Nov 19th also, I am excited and looking forward to it, I am trying to be positive and look to the future, the outcome will be worth the effort it will take to get there, be strong, be kind and win, win, win....no long term goals here, each 10 lbs will be a major accomplishment and I will look in the mirror and smile at the person I look at and say..."see, I told you we could do it" LOL :tongue:
