dundore my sister lives in south county. i will be banded on Oct 22 at St. Alexiius hospital in st. louis. my dr. is Follwell. i have been on a liquid diet since the 9th. 7 more days left. my brother-in-law's sister was banded by him 2 yrs. ago. she is doing great. i have to drive a little over 3 hrs. to my sister's and she drives me downtown to the dr. i live in a small town in southeast mo. and the city traffic makes me a nervous wreck.

indigiogirl i said i was on my post op diet--- i'm on the pre op diet. lack of food is effecting my brain!!!!!!!!

hey morph my surgery is next wednesday too. in st. louis, mo you are lucky. i had to start my liquid diet on the 9th.

what day are you having your surgery. mine is the 22nd. i am scared s#$@$#$$#. i am drinking atkins. i add maple or rootbeer flavoring to the vanilla shakes. (like vanilla flavoring) the root beer makes it taste like the ice cream in a root beer float. the dietician said it was okay. she also said i could have french onion soup, without the onions. i really like it.

i'm so nervous about this surgery i keep saying i'm on the post op diet. i'm on the pre op diet!!!! 8 more days to go after today. i talked to the dietician and she said i could have some onion soup without the onions. i love it. she said i could use flavorings like vanilla to add to my vanilla protein shakes. i also use maple and root beer. the root beer tastes like the ice cream in a root beer float. i put ice and splenda in the blender with the shake. makes a large shake.

SWTGIBEAUT you have done great so far. i've lost 6 lbs. so far on my liquid diet. 8 more days to go. hope i lose 6 more.

joann i'm glad you finally got your surgery date. mine happened so fast i didn't have time to think. went in to see the dr. and was told to start the liquid diet the next day. i like to have a little time to think about things first. i should be glad because i know you've had to wait for awhile. i know you are getting excited. how long do you have to be on the liquid diet?

indigogirl can't have any beans. sure does sound good. i'm still on my post op liquids. 8 days to go after today!!!! taking one day at a time. not as bad as i thought it would be. saw some videos my dr. e-mailed me and they kinda scared me. i know they have to show you all of the things that could go wrong but i am definitally the wrong person to watch them. i just need to keep my faith. will try your soups when i get the ok to eat them.

wintobethin the psych. thing is easy. the first hr. you will be talking to the psych. mine was great for me. i was talking about things that had been bothering me for a long time. i needed that. i went in determined that all i was going to talk about was my surgery. the second hr. was a true or false test about different things. no big deal. mine just showed i was a little depressed. i have been for almost 4yrs. since my husbsand died. so don't worry about it. you will do fine.

BootyBee i too am getting banding Oct 22. sometimes i think about how close it is and i feel like i am going to have an anxiety attack. i have had a few major surgeries and i felt the same way when i was going to have them. i guess it's normal. my dr. e-mailed me a couple of videos to watch on the computer. i almost wished i hadn't watched them.

i'm afraid to exercise while i'm on the post op diet. i'm afraid it will make me hungrier. don't want that!!!!

winsprettywomen i will be having my surgery OCT. 22. i am on about 14 medications. from the way my dr. talks, i will probably be off most of them when i have my surgery. this was my 4th day on my post op 14 day diet and i haven't had to take any insulin since i started.

flowers, where do you find the SF syrups? since i'm post op i'm going to ask the dietician tomorrow if it's ok to use the flavorings. 10 days left one the liquid diet. it is going better than i thought it would. i try to stay home and away from food!! i only get 2 shakes a day instead of the normal 4. i have to divide them into 4 meals. i put them in a blender with ice and splenda and it makes a lot more. i'm afraid to drink too much broth because of the salt in it. i'm afaid it will cause me to retain fluid. i really don't have much of a problem until about 5 o'clock, then i get hungry bad. i've also been eating sf popsicles and juice bars. they make me feel like i'm actually eating because i get to bite them. ha ha i am so tired and i want to sleep a lot. i only get dizzy when i bend over. i guess sleeping is good, when i'm sleeping i'm not eating.

hey pj my husband was in the marine corps in 1972 and we were stationed in Grand Prairie, TX. my oldest son was born there. we are from missouri but i have always told my son that he's a texan. we really liked it there

hey flowers welcome. sometimes it seems like it takes forever to get a response. everyone on here is here to help. i don't know if any of you guys have tried this but, i really don't like vanilla drinks so i put a few drops of flavoring in my drink. i've tried maple and rootbeer, they are really good.

hello newgram the reason the dr. has patients go on the liquid diet is so their liver will shrink. the liver has to picked up so they can get to the top of the stomach. if you don't follow my dr. diet and he gets in your stomach and sees that the liver hasn't shrunk and is too big, he will take you right back out of the operating room. this is for our own good. with the lap band he wants you to stay over night. i'm glad because if you have a problem some one will be there. i bet you are getting excited. it won't be long now!!!

today is my third day on the liquied diet. my stomach is really making noises. the first 2 days weren't tooooo bad. had to sit and watch others eat some of my favorite foods. i just drank my broth. thought about cheating my first day, thinking oh well i have 13 days left, but i didn't. one cheat could lead to sanother. i need to find asomething to keep mre busy. i am having a lot of cramping and gas, is that normal??

3rd morning of my liquid diet. my stomach is making all kinds of noises. just 11 more days of this. i am taking one day at a time.

well , had my tests and saw the dietician today. today was my first day on the liquid diet. wasn't too bad. a little hard watching others eat. i have to have a stress test and echo of my heart before i have surgery. if everything is okay i will be on shcedule for Oct. 22

i finally got to see my dr. today. he told me to start my liquid diet tomorrow!!! my surgery will be Oct. 22. didn't expect things to move so fast. scared and excited. met a lady there that had lap band, she looked great. she said that i wouldn't be sorry that i had it done. good luck to all of you guys!!

went to the dr. today. start my 14 day liquid diet tomorrow. my surgery will be Oct.22. i sure didn't expect it that fast. i'm so nervous. met a lady there that looked great. she said i wouldn't be sorry i have it done. my 2 wk liquids diet sucks. because one of my kidneys is funtioning at 49%. i can't have as much Protein. so i can only have 1/2 a shake 3 times a day. 300-400 calories. i'm going to starve.:eek:

I will be leaving early in the morning for my trip to st. louis. my appt. with the dr. isn't until 1:30 but i want to have lunch with my sister. i'm starting to get excited. i have a friend that lives close to me that is seeing her regular dr. tomorrow to get her released for surgery. she was ready to see the bariatric dr. but after he read her report he wanted her to have a test done on her lungs. i'm sure she won't be far behind me for surgery. she wants to lose weight so she can do things with her little grandson. she said she gets so out of breath. i told her she needs to get on the site. long2bthin some people just don't understand about the lap band and what a great thing it can be. you have done great!!!! i'm sure your parents will be shocked when they see how much you have lost. i just know they are going to be so proud of you. would love to see their faces when they first see you. everything will turn out okay. let us know how everything goes.

hey NaniRose glad you found this post. i haven't been banded yet, but it won't be long. i see the dr. on the 8th. i'll be thinking about you, i am nervous a little but i know it will be for the best that i have the band. i've been reading this site for a while. it is very helpful and everyone is always incouraging you. it is great to see all of the weight loss. i can't wait till i get to post my weight loss. let us know how everything turns out, good luck to you

hey charlene k i've already been approved. when i go to st. louis to see the dr. wednesday and have all my tests done and see the dietician on friday. i'm hoping the dr. will give me my surgery date while i'm in his office.

hey charlene k i'm on medicaid and medicare because of my disabilities. tried to get insurance through insurance companies and no one would insure me. i would start telling them what was wrong with me and they wouldn't even let me finish, one guy told me that i might as well quit trying because he couldn't think of any companies the knew that would insure me. on the road to a new me.
