Hey surgery twin! I am on the pre op diet too and it's been difficult. Just over a week left, we are almost there! 🙂

If you haven't tried them yet, bariatric pal has awesome Protein shots available. I love the orange. It's like conentrated Tang! 100 calories, 15 grams of Protein. Other really good Protein Shakes that got me through it, Redcon1 Protein shakes are 0 grams of sugar 250 calories and 40 grams of protein. Also KaChava is a good powder shake with alot of protein and super foods in it. I still incorporate these in my diet post surgery and it definately helps. Hope your surgery goes well with no issues!
Thank you so much for that information! I've been looking for a good Protein Shake for a while so this is super helpful 🙂 I hope your revision went well!

If they aren't concerned, I wouldn't be concerned 🙂 did they explain why there was no need for a pre op diet?

Let me know if anyone creates a Facebook group or chat, I'm not sure how to do that or I would get one going!

Just weird. Like fried food, bread and ect. Just a big adjustment that I am ready to make!!! I need this for me and my family! Food has always been center of my life and I dont want it to be.
I think it's totally natural to mourn the loss of food! It was what we have known for so long and it is a huge change. I am also ready to live to eat and not the other way around. It will be such a nice change!

17 minutes ago, Melody57 said:Most of my questions are on food. For pre-op I’m allowed one meal of 4 oz of Protein and 1/2 cup of veggies. So right now I’m not sure if I can use a sugar free Salad Dressing as part of that or is it ok since it’s barely any calories and no sugar. I can email them so that helps.
So glad you get to have a meal! That's awesome, I have heard that it makes it pretty bearable for pre-op from other people I have talked to. Getting so close, cant wait to hear all about it!

I'm really looking forward to mine! Were there any questions that you thought to ask while you were there or that you thought of after the fact?

1 hour ago, tamra. said:I am getting so nervous even though 8/15 is weeks away!!! How many of you have a liquid diet prior? I have one for 2 days before surgery; my list is small.....broth, popcicles, juice, black coffee....
Also, how are you handling the non-positive people? My mom felt the need to tell me things that can happen AFTER....I just can't....
I have a 10 day all liquid diet leading up to surgery, and I know its going to suck but we totally got this!
As far as the haters, just do your best to ignore what they say. If you are anything like me you have done TONS of research on this and have spoken to your medical team. If it is just coming from a place of concern on her part, maybe hit her with some research that she can refer back to. I like to tell people that my risk for obesity related complications is much higher than my risks for surgery. I am content with my decision, and thats all that matters

18 hours ago, emgo said:Hi friends! My bypass date is 8/7! It feels surreal that it’s actually happening after such a long process for insurance approval. Some days I’m really excited and some days I’m terrified. My one week liquid preop diet starts 7/31.
Congratulations! So exciting! How are you feeling about the liquid diet, for whatever reason it's the thing I am most nervous about.

I’m happy about this, even though weight loss is only part of the reason I’m doing it. They’re addressing my Barrett’s Esophagus too, which will be a relief.
How are you all feeling?
I'm so excited for us all! I had to look up what Barret's Esophagus is, and that sounds like it would be really uncomfortable. I am sorry you have had to deal with that, and here's to hoping for relief and weight loss for you!
