jojoyoung replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i had a second fill yesterday and had 1.5 mls put in taking me to a total of 5.5mls. my doctor told me that after a week or so the restriction wil once again disappear but next time i have a fill in four weeks time the restriction should stay and i will be on my way to losing some weight as i have not lost any since surgery back in oct 08. -

=TropicalLagoon;1103679]Wow Mattyllew Sounds like we had two totally different experiences. You really do seem to have suffered with the pain. I am totally fine and have been since about day 5. I have taken no painkillers since and the only pain I suffer is mild and bearable - mainly laughing, coughing and bending over (tie shoes, load dishwaser, washing machine, etc) Well done on following all the dietry advice too. No wonder the weight is flying off. I actually cooked a roast chicken dinner for the family today and took great pleasure in putting a selection of veg, together with some mashed potato, a couple of slithers of chicken and gravy and mushing it all up like baby food. I enjoyed every tiny mouthful I took and felt no restriction at all. was only expecting a few tablespoons equivalent, but managed the lot, and still felt hungry after. I will resort back to liquid foods tomorrow though. I don't want to do too much too soon. I don't want to risk stretching my stomach pouch after all. Maybe it's too late and that's just what I've done. We shall see on 22 Jan I guess. I may just hang around after my fill at 2.45 to say hi to you. Good luck with it all - ncie to have a guy's perspective. TL hi tropical, just wanted to know how you are getting on, are you going to bristol on the 22nd, if so my app is 2 o'clock and my friends at 2.15 so we should be able to have a quick chat. i had a fill last month 1st dec so this will be the second. i'm afraid to say that my band has made no difference to my appetite whatsoever, also i feel hardly any restriction i have not been on the forum for a while because i didnt want to give any negative vibes, i'm just hoping next fill will make a difference. -

hi flirtylass well done, i am so pleased for you, also a little envious. i was banded 4 weeks ago ( well four weeks this fri) i have not weighed cos i too scared as i dont think ive lost any weight, i can eat anything and everything with no problem and was desperate for a fill this thursday in bristol. Unfortunately it has been cancelled as there was not enough people to attend, so now have to wait till dec 1st. What if they decide to cancel that date as well. there are no other appointments available any where else in the country this side of christmas, i feel pretty much let down. i am really pleased for you and it was stories like this that made me want to have a band. but now i getting down and worried that its not going to work for me. Sorry for being so negative. -

Hi Sally, no sorry not heard of Dr Frering, as for an appointment on the 23rd Dec . I went with a friend and we were both banded on the friday, myself in the morning and hayley in the afternoon. We went to the hotel saturday afternoon and we both felt exhausted and a little sorry for ourselves (which is how we would expect to feel after having an operation) Sunday morning we had our flights home, both hayley and myself really struggled all the way home, and we both said that if had to do it again we would give ourselves more time to recover maybe another day or two. Also we were both in the same pain so there was no one to help us with cases etc. I appreciate that everyone is different and i have read on the forum that some are fine and out shopping the following day after the operation and you could be the same but if your not that lucky then its not going to be easy and you definately need someone with you to look after you. ( simple things like putting your surgical stockings back on after a shower lol) I dont mean to sound negative as i am really positive about my banding and was very impressed with Dr Chris and his team but just make sure you dont rush your return home. -

hi vanessa, before we could leave the hospital we had to go for a x-ray, we had to drink this disgusting laxative drink standing on a board with a xray machine in front of our tummy and swallow when told, so that he could make sure that the Fluid was going down ok. afterwards he asked us if we wanted to see the x ray. Do you have any probs eating anything at all? -

hi vanessa, i've booked my first fill for a week thurs in bristol so im exactly a week behind you with the band and the fill. im not sure how much weight i have lost, too scared to weigh but if im honest i dont think ive lost much at all, im still eating for wales and everything goes done as sweet as a nut in fact if i didnt see it for myself on x-ray i would say dr chris forgot to put it in. i'm really ready for this fill. my friend hayley does not need a fill as she has real restriction and has lost well over a stone, it just proves that everyone is different. -

where are you living sparky? I have just booked an appointment for the 20th at 11.30 the lady didnt say anything about having to cancel if not enough people, so hopefully she has had other appointments also. I havn't weighed cos i will get obsessed, weighing day and night so i have chucked the scales. Just had two slices of toast with banana on top, willpower not my strong point so i'm desperate for this fill. My friend who was also banded the saame time as me has lost over a stone and says she doesn't need a fill yet cos she still not eating that much, i feel and eat the same now as i did before i was banded, getting seriously worried its not going to work for me. -

I'm back to work today, still feeling sore around the port area when bending or twisting. I'm a bit concerned about the quantity i am able to eat, by the weekend im sure i could of eaten a full roast dinner, i'm trying really hard to stick to a low cal diet but finding it more and more difficult. Is this normal or am i just a gutsy madam. I know that frederick was visiting bristol and cardiff today for premises so the news from sparky that he has appointments in bristol on the 20th is great news.
