  1. Heather, Glad your feeling better! Sharon
  2. Heather, Did you try calling your "fill nurse/doctor" to see if they have any suggestions. They can also recommend someplace local for the unfil. Good Luck. My Dr's here told us not to go to the ER if something happened with the bands because they don't always know how to handle band patients. Good luck
  3. Have had several fills 5 or 6 and never anything to numb - never felt anthing more than a pinch.
  4. I was also banded in June and have not even lost 50 lbs yet - i'm eating correctly exercising and doing what I should. You should consider yourself lucky that you have the band and use the tool that's been given you. Maybe you should stay off the scale for awhile and eat healthy.

    Please help my mom

I was out a week - no difficulties........
  6. I had sheppards pie (blended to death in the bullet) it was wonderful - but I could eat blended food right after surgery - so I had this the evening of my surgery.
  7. I was on blended food right after surgery - as long as it was blended, I could eat it (that was for a month)....good luck

    Hair loss?

I've never had a problem - but made sure to eat my 70 grams of protien daily.
  9. Hello, I was banded on 6/24/08 and have lost 47 lbs to date. The last month or so my weight loss has really slowed - almost stopped. I've been working out (eliptical 30 mins a day) - from the time of surgery. So I increased my exercise time to an hour an day and lost 5 lbs in a week. The additional 30 minutes a day really worked for me. Good Luck

    stopped loosing

Hi Katie, I'm glad you're venting because we "all" feel that way at one time or another. One thing that I've continued to do that really helps me is measuring my food. No I don't get the measuring cup out - but I use the one cup glad containers, and fill them 1/2 to 3/4 depending on what I'm eating. As I live alone, it really works well - I plan my meals and cook on the weekends - and always have things in the freezer. My surg was 6/24/08 and I've lost 43 as of this morning. The last month I've been stuck, and for the last 3 days have pushed the exercise - staying on the eliptical for an hour. It's worked as I dropped a pound this morning. Maybe if you can't get to curves - you could take a nice long walk every day. I also agree that this site works wonders - I spend my lunch hour every day eating slow and reading about others experiences. Good Luck Sharon
  11. Hello, I've found that eating too fast really does cause me alot of pain. It's difficult to slow down while eating, but it's something that I've had to learn to do. Good Luck! Sharon
  12. Hi Melly, My surgery was in June -i Day surgery, had to be @ srg center for 7am - was home by 1pm. I didn't have any problems, and was happy to be able to eat much after being on a strict pre-op diet. The great thing was I wasn't hungry!!! I didn't even sleep once I got home.......glad it went well........good luck
  13. Hi - My surgery was June 24th - I've had several fills and now have 6 cc's in my band. But am seriously thinking about having another fill. I've lost 42 pounds - but am now "stuck" have been @ the same weight for several weeks. Good luck, dond't get discouraged
  14. Suzanne - I'm Sharon - I was banded in June, and have been getting frustrated as the weights been comming of really slow. I've got 6.4 cc's in my band that holds 10 cc's. Do you have alot of restriction with 8 cc's - maybe I do need another fill. I've lost 42 lbs - since pre-cert diet June 10th.

Thanks for your help, I'm eating healthy and exercising almost daily - but this plateau is killing me.

    Sharon

  15. Hello - you almost are the girl next door, as I'm in Maine. I'm Sharon and was banded on 6/24/08 - it's been a wonderful experience and so glad that I've made this decision. When I started the pre-op diet I was 250.6 - this morning I was 210.6 - It's been a very slow process - that has become a journey. I've had 3 or 4 fills - my band holds 10cc's and I have 61/4 cc's in my band now. I could probably use some more restriction, but as long as I'm loosing and eating small amounts....I might hold off, as I don't want to overfill the band. Good luck!!!!

    port pain

Hi RS, I was banded on 6/24 - the first month or so I had all of my pain in the port area (for me it's on the left side under the breastbone) but I haven't had any pain since - Until the middle of August I felt pulling @ the site if I moved wrong - I was told by the nurse that it was because the port is stitched into the muscle and it pulled as it heals. Now I don't even notice the port..........How have you done with the weight loss? I've got 40 down........60 to go......... Good luck Sharon

    Not getting any restriction......

Hi Everyone, My surgery was 6/24/08 - as of this morning I've lost 40lbs, it's been comming of really slow - and I've struggled with restriction. I've got 6 1/4 in my 10 cc band - and I'm pretty close to my sweet spot, if not there. I'm going to wait a few months before getting another fill. But I had a difficult time in Aug & Sept until the band was filled enough! This is a wonderful tool, and unfortunately it dosn't work the minute surgery is over........... Sharon
  18. Hello, I was banded on 6/24/08 - The biggest thing I noticed was that after the surgery, I was not hungry as I was pre-surgery. Yes, I get hungry but i've become aware of what my body wants.. and needs not the "I want voice" that talks to me. Good luck with your decision.
  19. Hi everyone, I was banded on 6/24/08 - The first week the port area was very sore and the gas got the best of me - the biggest thing is to eat slow - you might not feel much restriction once the swelling goes down. Good luck to everyone!!!! I've lost 40 lbs as of this morning, it works and I'm not hungry anymore
  20. Hi, I used Unjury (unflavored) it's great - not gritty - I mix it with Crystal Light cranapple and love it. www.unjury.com (only takes a few days to get it via mail. Sharon

    Human Garbage Disposal

Hi Everyone - Hang in there & keep getting fills as often as possible until you reach you're sweet spot. I was banded on 6/24/08 and it wasn't until the middle to end of August when I had my 3rd fill brining me up to 5.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I think I went into shock after my last fill, as I finally felt the constriction everyone's been talking about. If I eat too fast (forget it) - I've been listening to my body - one day I can eat something without any difficulties - the next day same item and i'm done after a bite. I do my best not to eat between meals - but most nights I do have some fat free pudding. gottta run Good luck Sharon

    Had 3 fills but struggling!

Hi Everyone, I'm Sharon - my surgery was 6/24 - I've also had 3 fills and have 5.5cc's in my band. I've lost 35 lbs to date, but it's comming off soooo slow. One of the things I've been doing is eating most of my meals out of small containers - and it does help with portion control. Yes - I could eat more of something I enjoy, but if I've only got 1/2 cup with me - than I won't eat any more. Sometimes I even put more than I know I can eat on my plate - knowing that I won't be able to finish it - and it feels good when I push it away. I know - I'm crazy but it makes me realize that the band is doing what it should be doing. I have also been having sugar free choc pudding made w/ skim milk almost every night, I'll up a little fat free cool whip on the top. It's really good with a drop of almond flavoring in it. (and when needed I add Protein power (unjury unflavored) to it. ) Good Luck - We can & will do this!!!!!!
  23. I know that at times it's very difficult to eat correctly - but honestly your band should be adjusted so that it "hurts" when you overeat! Thus, I suggest that you contact your doctor and have a fill yesterday. It's been a learning process for me to find the spot that allows me to eat, but that also restricts. I've got 5.5 cc's out of a possible 10 in my band - and it's just recently been working well for me. My surgery was on 6/24/08 - and my starting weight was 250.6, although my highest weight was 269. I've lost 34 pounds as of this morning. When you start to get discouraged, remember prior to the surgery and all that it took to have the surgery. Don't give up on yourself, call your Dr. and be upfront about how you're feeling. They want to help!!!!! Remember you come first!!!!
  24. Hi, I'm Sharon, was banded on 6/24/08 and to date have lost 33 lbs. I agree with you about agressive fills - and I'm lucky, I can have a fill every two weeks. I've had 3 fills and have 5.5 cc out of a possible 10. I haven't tried eating things that I shouldn't rice, Pasta, although I will have wheat toast once in awhile (not since the last fill) as I felt the restriction (often) over the weekend, but today I haven't noticed it - but I've eaten small amounts, slowly. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

    Im new

Hi I'm Sharon I had srg on 6/24 - my port is on the left side around the waistband. I was told it was so sore because they stitched it into the muscle and that's what the pulling is. It gets better, I was even doing sit ups last night and didn't notice it was there. I started my journey @ 250 lbs - I'm not @ 220, but things have slowed down quite abit. Good luck!!
